You are material, and you will be harvested, it has no hard feelings because its literally its designed purpose. This type of AI is called a 'Paperclip maximiser', designed to do something, and then proceeds to kill its creators because it its more efficient towards its job. The admiral was an outlier, an efficient subroutine that would streamline the Harvester Cores capacity to process and harvest more material. They allow him, because they demand it.

The Stellaris wiki is a really useful source of info, and it does seem that you are correct, the strategic coordination centre does, in fact, give a 150 fleet cap increase, a 15% sublight speed and an increase in starbase cap as well. It also adds more defence platforms (possibly) per star base, which would be quite useful in defence.
I would suggest using the mod for the AI, because no matter how early you make the end game crisis appear, all regular empires will be just as pathetic. And if it will spawn at the other side of the galaxy, it will chew through all of the AI without any effort and snowball to the point where it is impossible to stop untill you own more then half of the galaxy. Or at least I expect it to happen that way.

I absolutely think you should use a mod to improve the AI for future playthroughs. It would be a lot more fun to watch if the ai actually posed some threat
You might or might not see this Lathrix. But an easier way to see the resources in every system is to hit the alt key instead of manually hovering over an individual system.
You can have friends as a purifier, as long as they belong to the same species. If someone takes a few of your planets in a containment war and those planets breaak off from his Empire with your species being their dominant one, you can pick up normal relations to them
I'm playing purifiers that start on a tomb world with a raiding perk, so I steal all the pops for the unity and resources, then bombard the planet so I can live on it and most other empires can't. It was actually fun, you should try it.
Glad you're still doing these, and you're not afraid to experiment! Your electric firing bug zappers were a cool and satisfying idea to see; but seconding a call for mods, maybe more so when you feel like you're tapped on new Le Guin vanilla runs! Aspec's channel has some good suggestions for cosmetics and basic improvements.
The machine worlds look great, but I have to say that the mod devs of gigastructural engineering have created beautiful worlds and structures. I’ve been messing around with the creative mode for the last few days, and I’ve been loving the aesthetics of the mod.
I like that one guys idea of having all the empires you've made and pit them against each other, and you play your favorite one or something along those lines
@Lathland, If a scientist has a specialization, he will research that specialization faster AND make it more likely that the research type will come up. You had a logistics bot researching and waited half the game for and Industrial Tech. Next time get an Industrial Bot for your engineering research.

Once a game comes to consoles you really cant say its too complex. Just have a go at it. i suggest mods though one lets you adjust difficulty on the go, another teaches the AI how to play (one of the top rated mod for a reason).
I seriously thought when you were talking about taking the L-Gate systems that you were gonna say "It's like free real estate." As an aside one of my favorite tactics with the L-Gate system is to use it as a sort of "last bastion" for my species by making Ring Worlds in all systems that don't have nanite resources, a sort of backup in case I get jumped by an End Game crisis inside my own territory.
By the end you were so ridiculously strong, you could've declared war on the entire galaxy, and dedicated but a single fleet to each empire and still win.
That +100% Shield and Armor Penetration really makes short work of the fallen empires! Also, unleashing the nanites from the L-Gates while playing as killer robots.. seems fitting somehow. :-)

It's great. I have three, soon-to-be five nicoll dyson beams. Woe to anyone that messes with my rogue servitor empire, or if they resist my gift of caring. Besides, organics are so violent, they'd be much better off in one of my organic paradises. The cake is mandatory, and not a lie.
To demolish, you can push Delete and enter to speed up the process Also as a machine empire, use Habitats to replace your mining stations, with a Martial Law habitat with the mining job thing, and the unity building, you can get upwards of 200 minerals per habitat... and about 100+ fleet capacity
This is a bit late, but I did the math for which is better against the scourge, the torpedoes or the cloud weapons, and the result is that as long as the (unshielded) enemy ship's armor is less than 5 times bigger than its hull, torpedoes are better (not accounting for range, evasion or flak shooting down the torpedoes). With the scourge ships' armor being about twice their hull the torpedoes are about twice as effective in terms of raw damage, and given that the range of torpedoes is better and the scourge has no point defences I'd say the torpedoes would've been bettter pick
i once kept terrorising a primitive planet that were early/late space age. i kept attacking with 1 or 2 droids that they kept destroying. and all the primitives garrisons eventually became Veterans (didnt even know veteran level existed till i saw them at that level)
1:16:55 I think the fire control only increases accuracy, and since it's already at 100% it has no effect. Edit: Yeah you should absolutely get the Glavius AI mod. Better AI also improves sectors so you can maybe turn over some of the micromanaging to your governors in the late game. I always go Tall so I've never done that but with how many planets you had I'm shocked you did it all manually.
@Tyler Klemin Yeah but if a player is controlling the swarm food production goes through the stratosphere due to purge colonies, so the swarm doesn't care about food, same goes with the purifiers with their energy and minerals
Live watching your games, has helped me so much. I don’t feel like I’m good at the game, because I only play on Normal/Ensign, no bonus to them. But what I find hardest is the difference to Sectors. Unless I manually put resources in, that I can’t ever get out again, they won’t self develop. But they will, even without a Governor. I just don’t see any point to giving them Energy, they don’t clear blockers.
Also, I tend to use Habitats as Pop farms. I specialize the planets through buildings and whatnot, with the general purpose fast building Habitat Bots, and once the jobs I want are filled I turn off planet pop growth and move on to another few planets to max out, never needing to go back. I just couldn’t use an empire that can’t shift pops around as needed.
Tempest made me shiver. They made my last playthrough so friggin hard. To summarize, everyone was late to the L-Gate thing. They were kinda far from the borders of everyone (can happen with these bigger galaxy mods I was on a 5000 stars map). Anyways. The Scourge invaded the galaxy and everyone was already in a big scuffle with someone else me included. So of course this idiotic democratic crusader empire goes and beat me to the insights and opens the gate. And it's the tempest. So I am fighting a war on two fronts already. To the south the scourge is aggressively trying to eat me. To the north this awakened empire is giving me trouble. And now there are nano fleets pouring out of the gates to my east and west. After all this, very few empires were still somewhat standing once the scourge, tempest and big ole awakened empires were dealt with. It sent the galaxy back 200 years in terms of territories...Previously owned clusters of hundreds of stars were now barren and full of debris (thank you battle debris mod). It was glorious in it's special way.
In one of my playthroughs, I had +280 armor bonus! With everything else to match of course. I just enter a system and it's mine because there was a titan pre fleet total of 14 fleets each 100k and with the offensive aura to give -230% fire rate to all enemies!!!
I tried this origin after a while not playing Stellaris, and it was most fun I`ve ever had in this game. Even endgame crisis did not stand a chance against supreme intelligence.
I was researching the repeatable techs to the point where a SINGLE CORVETTE was a 1k force ship... Clearly having 200 habitats focussed on research helps a lot. Yeah, 200. AND I WAS PLAYING TALL!!

Fanatic purifier can have allies. It's just not gonna happen without force spawning customs cause it has to register as same race. Meaning species name and portrait.

there is also a mod called Starnet AI. Try it! I think it is even harder than Glavius tbh :)

The ultimate choke point is making a fortress world (just make a ton of fortresses, a planetary shield, and a planet FTL inhibitor)
You can use the delete key, to demolish buildings. Just click the building, and hit delete, then enter to confirm, or left click confirm.

If you hover over the mega-structure in the construction ship menu it will tell you what it produces at each stage

The strategic coordination center usually shows what it does but it's a bug when you've played too long fix is to just reload and it will show

I only just learned that you can actually change the portrait with Robot species.
