Hey, pianist and mediocre bassist here... I'm curious if you can explain the difference between this rhythm and that found in Billy Joel's songs esp around 'The Stranger' and '52nd Street' album era .. songs I think like Rosalinda's Eyes .. his producer Phil Ramone is said to have used a "backwards samba" a lot , and I agree ubt what makes it bacwards? im one of thos epeople who just doesn't get time signatures... I can play and get into 'flow' on the piano after a shorter than normal time period of ghosting tracks now, and switching to 3/4 for a song like "Piano Man" isnt' too hard at all.. I find it's more about not thinking about it, but feeling it out... but not really explainable in words, either. Do you think though that I could just have an intrinsically flawed or slow sense of rhythm and that it'll always hold me back?
