Amazing. There is no one form. The intent is more important than form. That way each person's journey and intent us unique. This was inspiring to say the least. Thank you for sharing.

The more I´m in yoga and the more I´m learning about yoga (10+ years), the more I have solid standings that ashtanga yoga is not, at least from the anatomical view, a healthy yoga to practice. If we look closely to some asanas, they are not healthy for sure and they are not biomechanically correct for bodily movements and needs. My understanding is that this is very physical yoga, with many chances to hurt and make some dangers to the body. I mean.. waiting in asana on 2 cervical vertebrae is not ok definitely, and Virabhadrasana 1 is also a dangerose posture.. especially for knee and hip on micro level. It is better and safer to do it with heel up. Anyway, it is not an easy yoga also. Sharath here is in very good shape and fit, but still.. I more trust Hatha yoga than astanga yoga with all this asanas. Sorry if someone feels insulted, this is just my subjective opinion! Namaste

Oh, it is fine if you learn it right with qualified teachers. Sure, it is best suited for younger people, but I am 57 and I still do the Ashtanga practice. First and second series, mostly now, and there is no reason one cannot adjust for certain poses if one has particular body limitations, but a qualified teacher is tantamount to success; learning the first series by oneself is a challenging endeavor, and should only be attempted by somebody who has a lot of experience in a discipline like kung fu or gymnastics, and even then there are some poses that may tweak tendons and ligaments too far or in the wrong direction. But I prefer Ashtanga to Hatha, it offers a base of strength and flexibility, and keeping this in mind, the combination can prevent injuries if you don't let the ego push your practice too much.
