Just reiterates the fact that spending a bit more for a piece of gear, that you rely on, may greatly affect your safety.
Bollocks, a proper knife like the American k-bar fighting knife should be able to cut steel bolts with a hammer and withstand bending and chipping because its made from 1095 high carbon steel and has a full tang. Terrible design, in a survival situation you would want the knife not 4 matches a button compass a bit of fishing wire and some hooks.
When I bought this knife years ago, first thing I did was epoxy Blade to the hande from the inside. The bolt was a little loose. Since then I've used it when hunting to limb small limbs ( with saw) going up a tree on a climbing tree stand, light hacking at brush. It has held up. I wouldnt bet my life on it. But it has served its purpose.
Mat 👍 Saves a lot of time. Same thing I do on EBay too. There's too many "good" reviews that say "Fast shipping. " or "Looks good " Thanks, but how's the product and what minuses are there, if any.
Good strategy ... for most products. You see, this knife has been marketed since _Rambo: First Blood_ was released -- in 1982. It was trash then, and it's _still_ trash. It's a gimmick, like Star Wars action figures. Buy it and put it away as a _cheap_ collector's item.
You're quite right about it being dangerous to its user, as it _always was_ a bad design. Don't worry though, as this is just a fad. We went through it when _Rambo: First Blood_ came out in '82, and again a year later with _Survivers_ starring Robin Williams. We also went through a "Chinese Throwing Star" (aka shuriken) fad about the same time, but I haven't seen a resurgence of the "Saturday Matinee" _Kung Fu movies_ that sparked my generation's awe of ninjas.
No offense, but how if the buyer can't do sharpening knife person?? Or worse, there is a sharpening stone but the buyer is just make a bit sharp knife into a dull knife??
I got this same knife about 7 years ago before I knew anything about quality gear, I’ve now been more knowledgeable about knives and EDC gear but that same little kid inside me always likes those huge cheap gody knifes, so much so I still have that same knife all these years later and I STILL us it around the ranch believe it or not. It’s used for those times I don’t want to abuse my benchmades or spydercos. Sad to see it fail so horrifically
My knive makes a vibration noise with the handle. When holding the knife. I thought it just had a weight inside it. Because it feels good when holding and shaking it. But it has me wondering if it's suppose to be like that. Like if the metal that keeps it together between the handle and the blade. Lose or if it made bad that cause it to be making that sound. Does your handle vibrates when u move it. It's this same compass rambo knive made in China. The handle vibrates when shaking the knife. Does yours do that.
I bought this knife a few years back. I found it exactly as represented in this video, which is, to say the least, "not ready for usage out of the box." I spent some time putting an edge on the blade. I don't intend to use the sawback. The survival trinkets that I received in the hollow handle are a little different as to mixture. But yes, eventually, even with light use (I never used it for batoning) the handguard separated from the handle. Thus followed me spending an afternoon welding every bit of it together, from the ground up. Now, it keeps a decent edge (with attention) and it performs well in light-duty work. It has become one of my favorite knives, but note that I essentially had to rebuild it to make it worth anything. It does well for the things I use it for, and I like to think that it might function adequately in a life-or-death situation. But it is by no means the knife I would carry into the woods or into combat. It works well for stuff around the house and in our yard. I wouldn't buy it again, even though I kind of like it - I suppose because I now view it as something of my own creation.
Do you think it’s worth getting the smallest Rambo knife ? Though I got PT II’s, I actually like the weight to it but by cheap ruko knife and small-medium buck knives are probably better.
I bought one of those just for fun and right out of the box the blade was loose! I took the knife down in my shop and tore it all apart and rebuilt it from the ground up including tightening the blade the right way and apoxying it in place. I sharpened the blade rewrapped the handle with the proper cord. I used duck decoy cord it is just as good if not better the the actual Rambo knife I gave it a more decent survival kit. I busted out that cheap compass and filled the but cap with JB weld with a bullet casing in the center so now the butt can be used as a hammer! I was pretty impressed with it after all I put into it so I ordered a hand made custom leather sheath for it with the ez lap sharpener just like the Rambo II knife but custom made for this one. I would depend on it much more then I would have right out of the box! It still would not be my go to knife but it is nice to have out by the campfire and just basic camping!

Yes companies care about getting money and making a profit. I don't fucking get this generation. Do you think companies and businesses exist to not make money?
I sold my 89 United Cutlery First Blood Part II after i aquired a genuine LILE (the real thing) but now in 2024 after i seen a guy on a knife forum using it in the wood (splitting wood) i say : "Damn...have to get one back in the knives collection , since it was the MOST SOUGHT AFTER knife in the 80's. I had the HARDEST time to search/seek the good old United Cutlery version (better made than the Mastercultery/Hollywood Collectible group ones...) but i FINALLY found one in awesome shape in Japan. can't wait to receive it and stab it in my wood display at home. such an ICONIC design. in my opinion its THE movie time of all time even before ANY other Rambo movies / Predator (1987) etc etc.
How do u sharpen the top spikey knife hair piece. I can sharpen the actual blade. But the top I don't know how. I always taught it was just for looks. But then I see people using it as a hacksaw. Cutting wood. Which is good for survival in the jungle when u want to cut some trees branches or something.
My Randall 15 has served me through many years of camping and hunting. I'll guess it's worth more now than the $180.00 I paid in 1981. I'll stick with what works.
If you buy a 18$ knife for your survival kit, you would probably not know how to survive is someone bought and equipped you with a 500$ survival kit. You get what you pay for. However, if you are out in the woods and the only thing that you have with you is a crappy cheap knife like that, realize what you have and make use of it. It is still a piece of metal that can be sharpened. Don't abuse it past what it can handle. It may be a piece of crap, but it can still be a survival tool. Use what you have and improvise.

I was just checking these knives out on amazon last week for maybe gifts for christmas ....so thanks for the heads up . I saw another video about the Rambo Survival Knife from ...Harbor Freight and it held up a lot better than that one you just tested and I think the harbor freight knife is $8.00 bucks ....(ha) !

Built like a tank. I pick it up when I grab my keys heading out the door. Made in China. Go figure? 5 years now. Not one problem. Makes you wonder???I beat it to death. $250.00 for a folder? Check out harbor freight. $10.00. Go look. I started with a buck 119 over 50 years ago. Still have it. Sog, Benchmade. I've got them all. Then I found this. Unreal. My favorite.
Lol..lol. omg that had me laughing so hard. When you seen the one match 😀 . I don't know how much surviving you gonna do with that.. oh man that was good. 👍👍👍✌️
There is a knife called oerla OL-0021SD an it is super sharp an has a thick blade also double sided an I can cut paper with it easy it only cost 30 dollars
I have a harbor freight rambo knife, it came out sharpened. I think most hollow handle knives wont make it throught woods. The serrated works fine. I could change the items like more matches or stronger line and few hooks, not just one and tablets to clean water

If that was the only thing I could find....I would love it!!...and cherish it....Survival is about what you got or what you can find to survive with....In a survival situation you won't have your $300 survival knife....or all that fancy equipment, 👍💯....Would I buy it nope....would I use it?....hell yeah!!......
I sure would like to see how a quality knife goes through the wood. Also, maybe see this same knife tested after being sharpened. I know it is a piece of junk as tested but could it be sharpened and pass your tests? Thanks for the video.
Mine has NEVER failed me,, i ordered 1 year's ago and hung it over de fire place,, been there ever since,, still as dull as de day i received it !! LOL.👍😃
Love these cheap survival knives test. I like to see them fail. Makes me feel better about my $50 knives 😁 the saw be better to use as a fish descaler than a wood saw lol. Had a fun time waching you put the knife to the test. Thanks for sharing. 👍☺
Bought one of these about 30 years ago. My 17 year old brother managed to break it just lije yours ... Bought a cheaper Hultafors instead and a Mora for my brother, Still have both but the Mora live on my dads farm ..
I’m confused I purchased the knife I did not get a match I tested it the handle did not come off my fish hook was not rusted so I don’t under stand I say order it out of the box because I’m not saying you did but you could’ve messed with it a little so show us it out of the box and we should look at it.
Thanks ya thats mostly with china brand products etc. I actually want to make this knife and of course the hollow section must be steel pipe welded onto blade at least. I plan on using a thicker dimension pipe. And i would take it to a guy to sharpen blade or just to get the angle.i will than keep it sharp. I will at least put in lots of matches, flint, good quality fish hooks and maybe add a medical kit hehe. Not in the knife of course 😆
Tops Knives make some beautiful blades and Cold Steel are more affordable if you are on a tight budget.... This knife looks gimmicky and just not practical for general purpose use in the field.
everybody: this knife is trash
uk roadmen: i'll take that

- Did you see it saw?
- OH SURE JOHN. I saw it a minute ago here somewhere.. let me find it and bring it to ya.
Great series! Thanks
I'm surprised it survived the first few hits with the log, that means it is strong enough to cut normal stuff without breaking.
It's a good knife for basic stuff, that's about it. But you know muricans, they think Rambo was real or something.
I sure would like to see how a quality knife goes through the wood. Also, maybe see this same knife tested after being sharpened. I know it is a piece of junk as tested but could it be sharpened and pass your tests? Thanks for the video.
The four thumbs down are from owners of the knife who swear by it..... and live in their moms basement.
Mom's basement has better knives than this. My friend told me...
Lee D I’m in my moms basement and I’m not stupid enough to buy a $20 Amazon knife🤓
Mine has NEVER failed me,, i ordered 1 year's ago and hung it over de fire place,, been there ever since,, still as dull as de day i received it !! LOL.👍😃
What watch are you wearing?
Nice spear head, even has a lashing hole. Lasted longer than I would've thought. I'm going to like this series. Thanks.
Если не ошибаюсь то у оригинада этого ножа была крестовая отверка на краю ограничителя, а с другой стороны плоская
What kind of watch do you have
Wes Seay Casio
Love these cheap survival knives test. I like to see them fail. Makes me feel better about my $50 knives 😁 the saw be better to use as a fish descaler than a wood saw lol. Had a fun time waching you put the knife to the test. Thanks for sharing. 👍☺
and it have a kinder surprise to haha what is inside of the dagger
Looking forward to this series!
Bought one of these about 30 years ago. My 17 year old brother managed to break it just lije yours ... Bought a cheaper Hultafors instead and a Mora for my brother, Still have both but the Mora live on my dads farm ..
On the plus side, you can make a pretty neat spear now.
Is the knife Alexa enabled? Maybe it spied on your watch and mimicked where it said North was?
5:40
It breaks
And I’m sitting here like, no way an inexpensive Chinese hand crafted heirloom breaks in 5 minutes.
This must be an anomaly.
He just don't appreciate fine knife's 😃 LOL 😃
Caution! Designed for a Rambo tiktok- Not a movie🤣
What kind of watch is that you have an how much was it
I’m confused I purchased the knife I did not get a match I tested it the handle did not come off my fish hook was not rusted so I don’t under stand I say order it out of the box because I’m not saying you did but you could’ve messed with it a little so show us it out of the box and we should look at it.
Not in the knife of course 😆
are hollow handles cheaper?
5:40 🤣 Sorry.
Hahaha xD got a good laugh when you were batoning xD
Do you have a recommended rambo knife?
😂😂so we sacrificed a full tang piece of steel for a a quarter of a free motel sewing kit and the bottom corner of gammy’s purse🤷🏼♂️
Tops Knives make some beautiful blades and Cold Steel are more affordable if you are on a tight budget.... This knife looks gimmicky and just not practical for general purpose use in the field.
Thanks for doing this. You’re saving a lot of guys from making a bad purchase.
