This was the fourth straight time that Arizona played in the Elite Eight ('03, '05, '11, '14) where they had the final possession of the game and missed a tying or winning shot at the buzzer. Three of those were in this same building in Anaheim.
I find it curious how both Pittsburgh area coaches Sean Miller and John Calipari ended up being a game from facing each other in the tournament a number of years 2008 - Xavier lost to UCLA who Memphis dominated in a rematch 2011 - Connecticut held off Derrick Williams and Jamelle Horne attempts on game winning threes 2014 - Wisconsin holds off Arizona in OT 2015 - Wisconsin, riding the hot perimeter shooting of Sam Dekker knocks off Arizona 85-76. 2018 - Arizona was overwhelmed by Buffalo’s shooting in the Round of 64.
I forgot how terrible the reffing was in this. That offensive foul on Nick Johnson with 3.2 seconds left had me seething mad 7 years ago, and I just watched it again, and it is still bogus. Arizona got jobbed. 2015, on the other hand, Arizona got spanked. But the refs won this game for Arizona. That is the single weakest offensive foul call of all time.
I love how Steve Kerr was a commentator for like all these old games I watch. Him and Mark Jackson literally traded positions. Too bad Mark didn't get a ring. He really should for the Warriors first championship cause he built the base for that team. The rest of it Kerr but Jackson did help them with defense first.

Man those 2014-15 Arizona teams were so close of making it to the final 4. Could’ve had a better chance of beating Kentucky in both years
