This story is so wild. Riku becomes ansem, who is actually xehanorts heartless. But xehanort heartless is actually xehanort in terras body 10+ years in the future and the heartless behind him is terra. I bet they are gonna throw another twist in the future to make it even more deep lmao
And Terra bestowed the keyblade to Riku, so it's doubly appropriate that he turns into the corrupted version of Terra when he himself is corrupted by darkness, just as Roxas resembles the sleeping heart of Ventus when Sora falls to darkness. Don't ask me why Vanitas looks like Sora because Re:Mind's handwaving of "why not" is bullshit lmao
I can explain Vanitas. Vanitas was ripped out of Ventus' heart, but Sora's heart when it was new touched Ventus' and filled into the missing space, which made Sora resemble the part Ventus needed to become whole. It's also how Roxas looks like Ventus since he is to Sora as Vanitas is to Ventus.

Well,as much as he may be a disappointing boss,at least he's a dramatic boss. (As a note I do find it funny how Riku during his darkness dash attack goes "Sloppy!" at the end when not only is it really easy to dodge but you don't even get hit by him the entire fight)
I know Riku in 358/2 days is an easy boss but it feels appropriate. I think it's supposed to show how much stronger Roxas actually is compared to Riku, and also drive Riku to become desperate enough to use the darkness within him.
I feel like Riku's intended to be a wind-down from the events that was the not-final-but-feels-like-it-boss that is Xion, which may be why he's not that hard.

I dont think that was actually Terra. That could have just been like a representation of Guardin by Riku, but not 100% Terra. Plus, why hasnt he used guardian in kh2?
I personally think of this more as an Epilogue Fight than a Final Boss Fight since it felt more like the end of the roller coaster that this game was (and because your scripted to lose).
It's confusing, because Riku replica sounds pretty good, and dark riku sounds amazing. So the va can still voice-act, he just completely failed with regular riku...twice.

he is pretty pathetic.its possible to just stunlock him in phase1 and you dont even have to dodge most phase2 attacks because glide exists(in fact,i think i once managed to just outwalk his helmsplit because i was lucky)

Through all my times of playing Kingdom Hearts, I've never figured out how the hell Roxas can wield two Keyblades. Is it because he now owns Xion's? It would make sense for her's to be called Oathkeeper, while Roxas going through antagonizing pain, has the Keyblade Oblivion.
It's becuz sora had two hearts in him at the time, his own heart and ventus' heart. Only *one* heart can hold *one* keyblade at a time, but apparently if you have two hearts in you, you can hold two keyblades, this also applies to roXas, because roxas is a part of sora
What happen to riku “way to dawn” with his eyes open, not needing the damn blindfold. Second, doesn’t he have that dark form of his from KH1 and CoM since he pretty much accepted the darkness. Third, why he transform to Ansem? Was he cursed to look like him if he used the darkness, or if someone has reached a Darren extent to higher level in darknesses, that they changed to look like ansem, but if that was the case, how did Ansem looked before? Fck Disney for their subliminal crap and Donald’s healing
He has the blindfold to hold back the power of darkness. He turns into Ansem at the end because he had to embrace the power of darkness to beat Roxas in an attempt to bring back Sora from sleep
Riku was not a difficult boss, especially in story mode, his moves are easy to read, and Roxas is OP as hell in story mode, if you really want to impress me, try doing this mission in mission mode, with just the base Kingdom Key, I bet you'll have a lot more difficulty
i dont know why after do a really good battle like the battle vs xion, square enix do...this, for me is the worst final battle in kingdom hearts games, riku is really easy to beat, why square enix don't do 2 rounds of this boss? the first battle this shit battle, and the second battle roxas with two keyblades vs riku with his ansem form, doing it more hard and fun, and of course don't doing this so easy for riku, because holly god, riku defeat roxas literally in one second, atleast a good battle where riku win but with problems, because this is so bad, for me the worst final boss in kingdom hearts game.

As much as I like how the Oathkeeper looks, It's still a weapon leaving the user too open with Its finisher and long second combo attack..
It always sounded super weak to me audibly, that high pitch chain sound. Compared to Oblivions chunky sounding hits

The fight is meant to be this way to show that Roxas was by far stronger than Riku

Used the remastered cutscenes on ps4 and emulated the ds version of the game for the gameplay

Actually those Neoshadows have reduced defence so that you feel like a badass like in the KH1 Secret Ending.

What happened to Rikus voice actor..... Compared to here and kh1-2 to Kh3, he's so bland in the recent game. Barely any emotion.
