After fighting King in a dark church with the sunlight beaming down through the stained glass windows, and this song coming on, I feel like I have finally experienced the true battles of life
Man. Remember that time where Paul's theme was like, horns going over the stand up bass? And then Herbie Hancock came in on the theremin (or some shit)? That's when I knew this soundtrack was high energy, but not high volume.
I remember King 1 ending from Tekken 2. It was so nice seeing one of the most intimidating fighters in-game with vicious jaguar mask, huge muscles, badass theme, and scary roar to be orphaned kids guardian and the most kind-hearted character in-game:)
King I was a respectable wrestler who won several competitions. But at the end of the day, the bell he cared the most wasn't the one used to mark the end of the round, but the one inside a church.
Man 1:34 is so ominous yet inspiring at the same time. It makes me feel dread for something that's going to challenge me in the near future. At the same time though it makes me feel like I have the strength to confront whatever it is and defeat it.
Ryan Smith heartbroken as i am too about what happened to King 1, King 1 is honestly nowhere near the wrestler King 2 is nowadays. But having taken 3rd place in The King Of Iron Fist Tournament 1 is a hell of an achievement for a pro wrestler.
I'm a fighting game purest. I played Tekken 2 to death when I was 7 years old and this theme ALWAYS stands out as one of my favourite of any fighting stage
This, Jun's theme and Kazuya's theme were late 90s fighting game-era defining soundtracks. This song more than any other, though, just wow... it was the visual that was attached to this song. The dark church with King in that outfit? Pure perfection. The only other character, stage and song that was as good as this combination was Li Long's theme on the river raft from Soul Blade.
by far. Its not even close , T2s soundtrack was godlike. gameplay wise its not that great but the story, the atmosphere, the music were the best in T2. Very original and ahead of its time with how they used actual characters devil/angel as literal character development for Kazuya, depicting the main antagonist as being someone with a good/evil battle raging inside him, not to mention the fact the main character/protagonist is an outright unsympathetic evil villain (Heihachi).
What kills me about this piece of music, is all these years and no one seems to realize the last 30 seconds or so of the song, in its normal presentation, is a spin on some of the music for the final boss battle in the first Splatterhouse game.
@@nathanniesche6380 Start here at about the 1:33 mark: th-cam.com/video/mhPXuXyHlco/w-d-xo.html Then here at the 30 sec mark: th-cam.com/video/-nqi4I0PXu4/w-d-xo.html Depending on which rendition you listen to of Kings music, will depend on how much it borrows off this piece. It's harder to notice on some versions of the track. Its already a very blink and you will miss it kinda thing, and the piece of the music is only a small part of the entire song on either Kings track, or the boss track in Splatterhouse, so its not completely easy to spot. The tone of the small piece is also changed from, I guess the best way to describe it as on the original, or like Splatterhouse on TG16/Pc Engine, as hopeful or optimistic sounding to keep you motivated during the fight. Where as in Tekken 2, its tone is changed to almost being frantic and hopelessly doomed??? Also worth noting, Yuichiro Komoriya, who worked on character design for Tekken 2, had also worked on Splatterhouse as a "special artist". I have seen it listed in a few places he was also credited as helping compose the music for the game also.
Tekken 2!! What a time to be alive!! I remember playing this on PS1 whenever my cousin brought it over!! I didn't appreciate this amazing music then, but my GOD I do now!!!
This whole theme has in some extraordinary way told the entire arc of the original King... just for that alone this has to be top 5 greatest Tekken themes
I loved playing Tekken 2 just so that I could listen to this song. I don't know if anyone remembers, but if you had Tekken 3 you could unlock a mode that let you swap out that disc for the Tekken or Tekken 2 one and play the songs from those games in a theater mode. I enjoyed that feature quite a bit.
Pure nostalgia for Tekken 2 and this song espacially. Just started playing tekken 7 a few days ago and I just can't help myself learning my old favorites Yoshimitsu and oc King and Armor King. Even though I miss the old T2 King ( "new king" and other fighter in general look way to buff) I am having an absolute blast experiencing Tekken way over 20 years later. T2 was my first tekken as a lil kid playing with my dad on the good ol' ps1. Know all grown up , Tekken 7 feels a whole lot new and fresh, but in now way unfamiliar. From now on I may follow this great legacy of a fighting game with great interest!
Well a good thing about King 2 is that he knows what revenge does to a person, and that if he killed Marduk that it would hurt other people, so he withheld his revenge and now look at him!
I just wish there was a way for King I to know one of his orphans turned out to carry his legacy well to be King II especially knowing too that Armor King I, his rival turned friend has trained him and showed him the compassion King I showed AK I as guidance for life
Not really, but most certainly with Tekken, Tekken 5 was easily the last Tekken with a near flawless OST. Tekken 6 had some good ones and then it was down hill from there. There's a reason most people don't play with the original music in T7.
1:34, when I was a kid whenever this part came on I got super sad and I never knew why, I probably realized that This King dies at this point in the timeline (cuz I also had Tekken 3). Back then I didn't realize =/
Frankensteiner. "what do you mean you can't block it and if you duck you take damage " That moves broken 🤣 Even tho i was they guy saying this, good times.
Does this song kinda sound like Long Train Runnin by The Doobie Brothers at the chorus? I don't know. My parents would dance to that song in the backyard while I was in the living room playing Tekken 2 and King's Theme would come on and I thought they sounded so similar
King 1 will always be the tragic masked wrestler hero sacrificing himself for the poor homeless and orphan children. King 2 is just the talented showoff disciple that has to keep the "King" dinasty at the top of the game.
King 2 originally still had those goals but because of the original hatred of Tekken 4 King, AKing, and Marduk's stories have just been trashed. King 2 was trained by the original Armor King and was one of the orphans that King took care of after all.
I hope if there is going to be Tag Tournament 3, There is Original Armor King and King instead King II and Original Armor King's little brother. Don't get me wrong, i love King II very much, and Armor King II is good too, but Original is always original. And we haven't seen King I after Tekken 2 (1995) and Armor King I after Tekken Tag Tournament (1999) so i think it's time to make comeback!

King 2 ends up being a bit of a drama queen, and not the cool kind. I mean, the "hey guys, let's stop fiighting *whine*" kind.
Syndicate Operative in plus king 2 is a traitor turning against his armor king being on marduck side and Craig killed the 1st armor king.
Yeah, original king had a roar that made you fear for your life, king 2 sounds like a teenage Simba.
@@theawardgoesto1 King 2 had some of King 1's roars in SfxTK.
