- AMERICAN ASSASSIN MOVIE REVIEW - Double Toasted - Dylan O'Brien and Michael Keaton star as Obrien plays a man being taught to harness his skills as a hitman by Michael Keaton, all the while Keaton tries his best not to tap into his role as Batman from the Tim Burton film. Whether he succeeds or not, Keaton and Obrien remain baddasses throughout a film of action, gunplay, and a whole Hell of a lot more. I remember seeing the trailer for this and, 'Atomic Blondie' back to back and my partner said, "It's amazing how much I don't want to see this movie compared to, 'Atomic Blondie'.
Judging by this and other reviews, we dodged a hell of a bullet.

He kinda has the temperament that Jason Todd has as Red Hood. He was already a skilled fighter, but he got way more lethal and skilled in a short amount of time because of anger.

I like action movies, but i found the motivation for the main character kinda lame.

The set up for this couldn't be more different from the books. He doesn't meet his girlfriend until "Transfer of Power" which is basically what "White House Down" and "Olympus Has Fallen" were both loosely based on.

I remember my first view of these guys reviews. It was God's of Egypt and they made me laugh so hard. They were around 30k subscribers and now they are at 86k. Now with a proper youtube account myself, I am proud to have subscribed on this day 9/22/2017.

If there's one positive that could be said about this movie..it is the attempt at a more equal stance on gender and violence. A lot of movies have a very sexist double standard where they usually only have male villains and/or only have male characters being hurt and/or killed while having the female characters either painted as can do no wrong or..even when there are ones that are bad..they do not get hurt or killed like their male counterparts no matter what they are doing or have done.
This is the second movie that I've heard Glenn Beck recommend on his show, the other being Ben-Hur. It's official, Glenn Beck has horrible taste in films.

I wish some more of these movies would also focus on the other terrorists our country has to worry about--people like neo-nazis, white supremacists, etc. We all know about that rally that happened where a woman was killed and many others were injured. A lot of people are quick to focus on that stereotypical image of what a terrorist is (someone from the Middle East with or has brown skin or something like that), but some of the other terrorists that we need to worry about also are hardly talked about or called for what they really are. Some even say that people like neo-nazis are worse, because they are in the country tearing it apart from the inside while parading as proud Americans.

In the books, the GF was kill in a bombing. The actor was not convincing to me, not believable to me. In the books he is the Punisher, but smarter. It wasn't gritty enough, I didn't think the lead was right for the part.
I think what could have elevated this movie to the next level is if they at least brought in Michael Dudikoff as the program's hand to hand combat instructor, specializing in ninjutsu. Maybe, even have Jason Biggs do a small cameo as the program's main chef, who owns a bakery.

Yeah i'm kinda sad to hear this film to be not as up to par as I thought it would be. Like i'm just waiting for like that modern-day Clint Eastwood film. You know like those classic westerns, or any action film about a lone wanderer. Like the kind of character you wouldn't want to fuck with. But this film man is fucking dumb, like those classic action films weren't exactly the smartest films, but they weren't dumb ether. At least shit made sense. It's with stories like these it's best to leave the main character's background a mystery. Like the man with no name cause even if you do come up with a background for a badass character that does make sense, it will most likely be very generic or typically. So it's best to leave it to the viewers imagination and wonder how such characters get to where they are now.
From the looks of the film, it looks like a typical action film with the hero being a hipster with a stupid haircut.

These guys obviously purposely overlooked their so called plot holes. He was already a government trained agent of sorts otherwise he wouldn't know the things they portrayed him to do. Overall it was a good fun violent action film.

Its a clean, concise decently shot action flick with some brutal violence. All their criticisms are completely exaggerated. As an action junkie, I had no real problems with this.

One of my only gripes with DT is that their criticisms are very often over exaggerated for comedic effect. I haven't seen this but it strikes me as a movie that gives you exactly what you came for and is as advertised.
