Lucky first guess with Teotihuacan! Good eye spotting the terrain. Had you gone into the Yucatan peninsula (or further south!) you would have noticed the vegetation and temple designs to be quite different. That photo was taken on the Temple of the Sun. Brings back memories of when I was living in Mexico. It is a nice day trip out of Mexico City. My guess is that the photo was taken in that crowded tier below. It looks like where you dropped the pin is a no-access point for tourists (See how that tier is empty, with people bypassing it to go to the top).
I've done a little bit of my own detective work, because it looked off perspective wise, from where he put the marker. I actually believe he is right at the top, but to the right of the steps as you climb up them (2 tiers up from where he put the marker). It also looks exactly the right height and distances to scenery/buildings, after watching a few TH-cam videos of people who climbed to the top and filmed panoramic shots. BTW, in some videos it looks like many of the closed off sections, are sometimes open to the public. This is especially true of the entire top section. Check out this video for example: th-cam.com/video/dWhIJP4rgy8/w-d-xo.html Which has a lovely panoramic shot from the top section from 3mins 17secs. Especially check out the last few seconds of the shot, 3mins 41 to 45secs....It looks like in the photo, he was stood very close to where she filmed it and was probably likely stood where the kid waving the bottle is. BTW, any videos or photos shot from that lower public section you suggested, just don't look anywhere close to being high enough. Plus, when you think about it, you're far more liable to sit down to take a rest, roll a cigarette ;) and take a photo, when you are at the very top of something. If I'm right, then I think he might be very close to being 25 metres out (Google put's it around 23 - 27 metres out). This is especially true, if you class it as being uphill. For example, 5 metres an a map, could mean climbing 25+ metres up a steep slope like a pyramid. Or as another example, if someone is stood on top of a cliff, while you are stood at the very bottom, you are still going to be hundreds of feet away from them (just vertically, not horizontally). However if it was shown on a top-down map, it would look like you are stood right next to each other.

Thanks for pointing out it was a joke very clearly or I would have thought you were serious
HELLO!!! I want to spend time with celebrities. Just kidding. GAGAGAGAGA! I only want to spend time with my two girlfriends and record videos for TH-cam with the 3 of us. OH YEAH. Don't hate me for living the best life, dear ni

man I love this series
i can't imagine what it's like for the guy who sent in that last picture. To just watch this wizard pinpoint the location on the first try, insane
Find a fan videos are my favorite. This guy is pretty good. Wow. Yea, you can play the game but to pick people out of nowhere is crazy. Thanks Wizard.
I felt the whole of England's hearts break when Rashford hit the pole.
I’m in Australia and I fking felt it
Maybe if you stopped whining and throwing yourself at the ground you could've have a chance, but hey we also have the best goalkeeper
@@Slenderbanana880 haha a Belarusian(bc of his name) calling the Italians "Our Team" while calling the American an Englishman, you love to see it
@@Cinema_Zerkalo pipe down.
On a side note, any new films coming to you soon Mr Cinema?
@@alexg1778 no need to, it's just fun competition talk (that becomes really fun when you win)
Sadly for now I'm just an amateur connoisseur, maybe one day I'll sniff the feet of my actresses on set too
Thank you Tom! After yesterdays devastating penalty defeat and the bullying from my friends and colleagues, this helped a lot to cheer me up again.
Best wishes from Berlin!
I love how he explains his thought process of finding the right spot by choosing the picture he saw at 23:26... while the picture belongs to 5. Monte Alban - not 6. Teotihuacan, which he has chosen ^^
Amazing Tom! Enjoying GeoDetective and the finals at the same time. 😀
Searching for Avalon Garden and Gifts in Google….30 seconds later. There it is.
I love these vids. Most times Tom has an amazing method to track down the location but the first one is a quick Search.
To be fair to Tom, it might have BECOME a common result because of us viewers all googling it at once
@@Wise_That fair enough. I just think sometimes Tom misses an obvious method and goes down his rabbit hole. I still think it is entertaining….
Hands down favorite series on the channel 🍻
The second one was so satisfying
Thanks for another fun video, Tom. These always brighten my day. Never stop believing! 🐅🐅🐅👕🏴
“Most of you probably hate England” 🤣🤣😶 love u tom
What is to like about England?
"It looks different doesn't it?" - Amazing observation of the distinction between two images..
Mr Thomas GeoWizard sir, do you think you'll ever do more Street View Bingo videos? I miss them.
22:12 I like the rambling about his thought process, but not realizing he copied the name of the next image (not on screen) :)
Geowizard is one beautiful man
I knew exactly where it was when I saw it.. much love from Canada
Tom: "Although I think we can win"
Narrator: "They, in fact, did not win."
I feel you Tom, we lost back-to-back finals in 2015 and 2016 in Copa America penalty shootouts. Fortunately Messi finally lifted the cup on Saturday! Football always gives rematch, you just wait!
Yes mate, I`ve been sitting here anxiously waiting for a new episode, I absolutely love these videos and the irl stuff. Going to order myself a kebab for the show :D
That distinctive "CIBC" sign in the background combined with the street name could have saved you a lot of time there
Anyone already mentioned that he should have just googled the first one? Can't find any...
Great video as always!
I know right? 1000 comments all the same, geez
Love this series just as much as straight line
Just for you, i'll be happy even if England wins. Cheers from a german italy fan.
But then
Been to Teotihuacan many times, absolutely recommend it !! A whole Mesoamerican city with two huge pyramids you can go up (sun and moon) and plenty of ruins to explore and learn about. I had an unfair advantage but recognised it from the thumbnail, glad you got it quick too!
Hey, sorry to correct you, but Teotihuacan it's an Aztec city not Mayan, most of the ruins south mexico are mayan, and most on the center mexico are Aztec or other similar cultures.
@@fernandoanciola8012 you are completely right - in all my excitement for seeing the ruins on this vid, I did get confused. I think technically its not even an Aztec city either, I think it was there before the Aztecs but this isn't a history lesson :) appreciate the correction
"So what brought me too it was this mountain, this structure" he says while looking at a completely different structure from the one he actually chose xDDD
He actually chose the correct one, photo was above the name. When he finished, I went back to the time when he first oppened the site and you can see it. I was also thinking the whole time, wow he got so lucky by searching the wrong name
@@SuperPuris I went to the site and the photo was indeed above the name. It's just dumb to be honest. Who does put the picture above the name instead of under it? Now you have the picture, then the tittle and then the description. Who ever made that site, should learn had to structure a text properly. :P
Loving these challenges! You should add a link to the blurred photos in any new videos so we can play along!
In Bobby's picture, the photo taker covered the camera on top left and now I can't unsee it
That is going to haunt me forever now.
what ?
It’s always so much more fun watching these episodes when he is in an area that you live around.
The intro hits different after the Euro UEFA final, the waiting for England continues...
Thank god.
@@TheLibermania So you supported Italy I guess
@@Arvidholders I supported nobody. To be fair during the tournament came a huge Anti England mood up, but i didn't care about Italy and i actually bet that England wins the cup. So i really didn't care.
Both Age of Empires 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 installed. What a man of sophistication... 🎩
Thank you Italy, great win!
Sorry Tom.
these are my absolute favourite videos of yours tom, keep up this series :))
you'd better hope england's as good at locating the goal post as you are at locating your viewers
Well at least they have Raheem Sterling! It was just confirmed that he will be appearing in the Tokyo Olympics as part of the English diving team!

You should do an IRL adventure version of this. Have fans send pictures from a small country like Luxembourg or a single city and roam around pinpointing the locations without using maps.
At this point, I’m afraid that he already knows our locations! 😅Great one mate!
What

you are correct unfortunately
Tom can be ridiculously clueless and thorough at the same time
Can you use your skills to help Rashford find the goal?
tommy this vid is helping me get over the loss
"There might be a big structure here"....I'm guessing they are actually sitting on the big structure there.
Loving the new yellow background!
Watch a Geowizard vid to help ease the heartbreak from the match and immediately hit with more pain... why is the world so cruel
You are absolutely amazing!
Have you ever considered using your awesome powers for good?
There are databases of pictures of missing children that need to be located and your skills could make a real difference.
Also organisations like Bellingcat have used similar techniques to pinpoint sites of mass murders in Africa and the Middle East and to track Russian movements in Eastern Ukraine.
In all fairness the pictures of the missing kids are from before they went missing, pretty sure they won’t still be there or their parents would have found them.
@@steve5x565 No, i'm talking about children that are still missing and being abused and their abusers upload photos to show others. Just like Interpol has the "Trace an object" project, there are websites that show for example the views from hotel rooms where missing kids are held.
@@soupfork2105 Well that's silly on behalf of the criminals. FBI agent, Geoguessr veteran, whatever - they're always be at least oneperson able to find location from te vaguest clues
The pyramid is massive. What a cool Aztec site, and reviews are full of praise. Now I want to go there.
27:16 Ouch :-P
For future reference, the term that would be used to cover all of the various structures made by Aztecs, Inca, Maya, etc would be "Mezo American."
It's awesome that you got it so fast, but this would help you cast a wider net.
