An amazingly appropriate teaching for this day and age. So many are in fact being led astray by those who claim this, or that, or simply have a YT channel. Many blessings to you and yours Pastor Brian!
I am so glad you said to stay away from NAR churches. NAR teaches that what they say, if it does not "contradict" the Bible is from God, even when extra Biblical. They also twist Bible verses rather than looking at Bible verses in the context of surrounding Bible verses, the Biblical book it is from, the Testament it is from - Old or New, and the Bible in its totality. Thank you also for mentioning the Bereans. They are my standard when hearing teachings. In fact, as you mentioned Bible verses, for example from Ephesians, I have been looking the verses up.
"And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven"- Acts 2:5. "And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit"- Joel 2: 27-29. "Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God"- Ezekiel 39:29.
"where we're picking up rocks and okay you sure you're hearing from God?" 😂 One things for sure the Holy Spirit can make you laugh. Thats my 2ct of prophecy. On-topic, in the NAR movements most of them boast about the gifts and prophecy, when I visit such a church most of the time it wont sink in my spirit. The cards are throwing arround how many ministerie of healing and prosperity it goes hand in hand with it. I try to avoid it most of the time directly. I speak in tongues, and sometimes I have I believe a dream from the Lord, but I dont jump right off to my printer and make a whole fuzz about it. I keep it personal in my living room. Peace and Shalom from the Netherlands 🕊️
I worry about what will happen to people who follow false prophets. Does the Bible tell us? As an ex JW I have had to leave behind close friends and I really worry about how it will turn out for them as they are lovely sincere people who seem to have a passion for God. It seems cruel that in the end they may be separated from God. Can you help me come to terms with this one as I find it so hard.
You are a truly gifted pastor teacher. Your strong foundation and stance upon the holy scriptures is very encouraging.
Yes, this is a needed teaching for today. Too many are falling for false teachers! I'm thankful for your excellent teachings.

There is a distinction between the offices and the gifts provided by the Holy Spirit!

I believe that the last days began at Pentecost in the book of Acts.
Joel 2:28-32, Acts 2:17, and Ezekiel 39:29 identify with the House of Israel.

The offices were used in the establishment of the Church and the gifts for the equipping of the Saints for evangelism!
