This was one of my 1st GameCube Rentals back in the day. I had a blast with it. It’s a shame we haven’t gotten a reboot of it yet. Also this reminded me of the sequel staring The Rock lol. Great Review, now if you excuse me, it’s time to go listen to Saliva and 00’s rock
That’s awesome to hear it was one of your first GC rentals, and that you enjoyed it! Haha I tried the one with the Rock in it (Nowhere to Run), and was like “yeah…this isn’t very good.” 🤣 Glad you enjoyed the review man! Definitely go listen to some Saliva, as I’ve been driving around town blasting their Spy Hunter theme all week 👍.
Sure thing! That’s awesome to hear you’ve been getting back into the GameCube lately, and more so that this was one you used to rent often! Luckily this one is still on the cheaper side to nab 👍. Feel free to check out the various other GC content here, as I’m trying to do the console and its library justice through this channel! Thanks again for checking out the review!
Man, I love and miss this mindless, arcade nonsense. I love me my final fantasy and Witcher Skyrim, etc. But this stuff right here is the majority of my gaming memories as a kid.
Same here! The gameplay loop here is just so dang fun! I do wish the GameCube version was ported better, but it’s still a great time. Thanks for checking out the review!
Love the comparisons between all the versions, I still remember this being the first game I ever saw and played on the PS2 all those years ago. They really did a great job bringing the gameplay and style of the arcade classic to a modern era and I wish the series was still going on today. The Interceptor is such a badass vehicle and still one of my favorites in all of video games. Another great review Marcello!
Glad you enjoyed the comparisons between all 3 versions! I’m enjoying incorporating that in multiplatform games ever since my Batman Dark Tomorrow review if there are noticeable or drastic differences. Paradigm Entertainment nailed bring the classic gameplay to the 6th gen consoles. The Interceptor is still my dream car haha. Thanks for checking out the review man!!
I feel like I'd heard of this before but now that I'm taking more of a look this game looks pretty damn good. I'll definitely get a copy whenever I have enough spare money to buy more video games if I find a copy for a reasonable price.
It’s a damn good game for sure! It’s definitely a cheap game across all platforms (under $15). I would say the PS2 version is the way to go if you can, otherwise the GameCube version is good as well (despite the technical issues in the port). Hope you get it one day! Thanks for checking out the review!
Funny story I left that comment when I was 3/4 of the way through the video and then saw that you also said it's a damn good game at the end. I don't have a PS2 so it's between Gamecube and Xbox for me.
It’s a great game honestly! The PS2 version is the way to go if you can, but I always loved this one from my childhood. Glad you enjoyed the review, and that it now interests you!
Amazing video, i didnt play that game, but at the time it was very popular... i miss the arcade on your house kind of games. I hope you review in a future the western videogame called GUN.
Thank you man! Definitely a great game, and I agree, I miss those “arcade at your home” style games. GUN is one I definitely want to review one day! Maybe I can get to it this year! Thanks again for checking out the review!
I had no idea this game existed. I'm 007 Agent under fire there was a car mission that I always thought was fun and wished there was more to that. I think I'll have to check this out
Glad you now know about the game! If you enjoyed that car mission in Agent Under Fire, you’d easily enjoy this game as it’s more robust. Thanks for checking out the review!
Glad to hear the review has you more interested to bump this up on your backlog! Thanks for checking out the review man, and hope you enjoy it when you play it!
Sucks that they rush the ports cause it’s pretty obvious that they did also sucks that SpyHunter would go downhill after the first one cause the sequel and the third one would essentially killed the franchise forever
Yeah, unfortunately Point of View was working on multiple ports for 4 games at once, so this one is the one that sadly suffered. Spy Hunter 2 had a really good soundtrack, but the gameplay was a massive step backwards. Nowhere to Run I tired and was like “nope.” 🤣 Thanks for checking out the review man!
Haha glad you liked that line. Honestly, the first game that came to mind was Virtual Hydlide in terms of the pixelated texture filtering 🤣. Thanks for checking out the review!
I did not have the four horsemen prophecy being fulfilled on my bingo card for this video. I remember a lot of this information from the "Have You Played" that you did on this. Super cool how they continued the plot of the 1983 game. Those guided cluster missiles would be my favorite. Haha nice dig at how terrible the economy is today with the chicken joke. The xbox version is super dark, I thought you had a filter on it at first. Great review, I have it on the PS2 so I'm happy to play that version.
Lmao about the prophecy bingo card. The guided cluster missiles in this game are easily my favorite weapon! Haha yeah, I had to make that economic comment…was the first thing that came to mind when I tried out this mode lol. Oh man, the Xbox version is insanely dark and that was unfiltered! Glad you have the PS2 version, as that’s definitely the original developer’s vision. Hope you play it in the near future, as it’s not a long game at all! Thanks for checking out the review man!
Thanks man! Yeah, the arcade classic being included in the Xbox version is a nice touch, wish the GameCube version got it too. Luckily the Midway Arcade Treasures is still an avenue to go to play it on the 6th gen consoles 👍. Glad you enjoyed the review man!
Funny how'd you recommend the PS2 version since the PS2 is my favorite 6th gen console not only because of exclusives like Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper, but the amount of games you can play especially with PS2's extended lifespan beyond release of the PS3 (Mostly licensed games, PSP and Wii ports and yearly sports games, but then there's games like Persona 4) and PS1 backwards compatibility. I grew up with a PS2 and am planning to mod it to store my favorite games as well as find unusual regional versions of games (Usually exclusive content), Japanese and Europeon exclusives, etc.
The PS2 was a phenomenal console, without question! Yeah, this time the PS2 version surpasses the others, but was also a case of rushed porting by another studio that wasn't the original devs. The PS2 being backward compatible with PS1 was a massive win, and allowed me to go back and experience several PS1 games back then since I never had a PS1. Thanks for checking out the review!
the OG xbox is one of the few times I preferred 3rd party controllers, I have a gamestop one that moves the white and black buttons to basically where the bumpers were on the 360
A controller with bumpers like that definitely helps! Funny enough, I’m working on an Xbox related episode where I’ll showcase a new 3rd party Xbox controller as well 👍. Thanks for checking out the review man!
@@GameCubeGalaxy That will be interesting, there were a lot of weird things with the xbox, I have the FPS controller and the light guns that look like actual berettas.
Nice review! This looks like a fun game! I used to play the NES version back in the day! I will definitely add this one to my want list but I'll get the PS2 version as it looks better and will probably be cheaper! Great video and keep up the good work!
Thanks, Dan! It really is a blast to play! As much as I still enjoyed playing it on the GameCube, the PS2 version is definitely the route to go here. Glad you enjoyed the review!

Thank you so much for this!! Been getting back on my cube lately and used to rent this as a kid constantly, i think its time to find my own copy.

@@GameCubeGalaxy It was a fun game, I remember really having to be in the zone to get anywhere in it though. I wouldn't call it mindless :D

I haven't put much time into this one outside of testing the disc so the review is appreciated.
I'll be moving it up the list of games to beat.

@@GameCubeGalaxy Spy Hunter 2 was basically Die Another Day for this franchise. Too much focus on Sci-Fi that lead to losing it's identity.
