Another great video, thanks. I watched a few other videos about this job, but yours is the only one that showed where to pry on the valve cover to remove it. There was another good tip in a 2UZ valve cover gasket video by Timmy the Toolman, using a screwdriver between the spark plug tube seals and the valve cover to pry them loose if you don't have seal puller.
It's been really difficult to fit filming videos in to the schedule lately. In order to keep up with the day to day shop work I've got to have the videos line up with something i can film in the evenings or weekends (and also have the free time).
@@OTRAMM I think the majority of people don't understand just how difficult filming is and how time consuming it is. It's almost like you have to have someone dedicated just for filming and the rest of the people taken care of the business side of things.
@@NigelNaughton yep, back when we were less busy I could just film during the day. We've gotten quite busy and I'm currently the only tech in the shop. Makes it hard to keep up.
So glad to see you back! THE most underrated YT 80 series mech. You've enabled me to do so much to my 80 series that even other people recognize. Yeah I'm cheap. But YOU my friend are magic. HIGHLY recommend OTRAMM to ANYONE needing Toyota 80/100/200 series work. Hope to meet you soon! Cheers!
ive got the parts in to do this just havent will'd myself to do it yet about tired of the oil seep hitting the exhaust and that hint of burnt oil. you made quick work what will probably be a weekend job for me
@OTRAMM thanks. I'm doing mine now. Back passenger side, lower back corner by firewall. I have about a cm of stud that I can grip and I estimate only 5 or 6 threads are in the block. Pb blaster, atf+acetone, mini butane torch and I can't get the stud to budge, in either direction. .. I have kroil on order and I'm contemplating an induction bolt buster. What am I missing try to work a handful of threads?
@@eliesh11 it's just a really crappy design. The bolts go past the head on the bottom. The bolt stickout rusts and then is too big to come out. It just takes a lot of patience to work them free. Occasionally I have to drill and retap the holes
@OTRAMM yeah. makes me reluctant to do the driver side. The sparkplug gaskets have also been brutal to remove. I bought your gasket removal tool, but it has not helped. They are the original factory gaskets but it's like they are now melded into the aluminum valve cover...

Please show broken bolt extraction next time. Ty!
I don't know that there'd because video left after I edit all the swearing out :)
I miss this guy 😁

I agree. Definitely miss the weekly stream , he’s a wealth of knowledge. It’s super time consuming to film.
@@OTRAMM You're the only tech in the shop?!?! WTH?? That's not right. By a long shot. Not asking for details but can only say that's not right.
He's back!!
very happy to see you back!!!

I can’t stop staring at that overfilled brake fluid reservoir! Love your videos tho
It's been sitting a few days so the accumulator has bled back to the reservoir.
Good to have you back

Great video. How did you extract the broken valve cover bolt? It didn't seem to slow you down at all. Did you use heat and or stud remover?
I welded a nut to the broken off bolt and pulled it that way. There was a couple of hours wasted removing the broken ones

kinda dissapointed he didn't show the broken bolt extraction. Broken bolts stop me in my tracks!!
Out of curiosity, why label the coils? I've been under the impression that it doesn't matter which coil goes where.
Great video and information!
So if an issue should arise I can know it wasn't from swapping coils around. It's redundant, but it helps in diagnosing later on if needed.
@@OTRAMM gotcha! Thanks again for all the good info. You're tremendous resource!
Great video man. Enjoying your videos always.
Welcome back! This is nice one thanks a lot.
I have a question: do we need to come back again and retighten the head cover bolts after some milage?
It probably wouldn't hurt. They seem to loosen up as the gaskets settle in.
Greatly appreciate this video.
Thank you very much.
Nice work. ! I think mine have been done. I hope they did such a nice job of it.
Nice to see you back! How about some Toyota Time?
That's gonna be tricky to work in to the schedule
