This performance is a model for me to which I will always compare other performers of this role. It is a pity that Karajan cut out this aria.

It shines brighter than the middle register and shines like the head voice. According to Garcia, THAT is the correct way to sing belcanto.
Who in the world says the low register should be weak? Even sopranos tend to sound feeble without a solid chest voice. There is so much nonsense that poses as vocal pedagogy.

This woman must have the biggest balls ever. To sing that passage in chest voice...it boggles my mind. Outstanding!
