Had hoped to DS from the start and only wish I’d got my act together sooner for this one. Great first leg snapper, a moral victory 😂

Thanks mate, your messages of encouragement were good, I’m just sorry I couldn’t act on them! Serves me right I suppose for not reading up on the rules 👀

Heartbreak after that first legsnapper! They must’ve thought you were feeling super strong 😂. Great effort though mate, I always do badly straight after time off. It’s a really tough course if not having a good day with that climb, nowhere to hide. Remember you will struggle to hold your usual power on a 20min climb if you’ve done a 9wkg burst up the legsnapper prior!
Personally I would not recommend sweet spot. A lot of the science now doesn’t back it and British cycling coaching recommends doing 80/20 Z2/race or workout. It’s called polarised training. Idea is you go really, really hard or really easy. No in between. That’s what I do. I do a lot of social/z2 rides with a really hard effort or two thrown in last 5/10 mins and then a couple of race or TTTs a week also. Used to do 12 hours but with this training I now get same results from 8 hours (and the off bike strength/core work)

I really should have read up on the scoring laps before going all out but lesson learnt for next time!
Interesting what you said about ss training, I’ll have a read about the polarised training as I need to make my time on the bike count and don’t want to be wasting my time especially if the 80/20 split is better! Thanks for the advice as always matey 👍🏻

I made a mess of this stage too. Thought legsnapper was FAL and the sprint FTS so I was pushing for FTS on 2nd and 3rd sprint, which I did well on but no points. Hard to keep track sometimes midrace which segment has which points.

Easily done Peter, such a gutter when something like that happens and it’s for no points!! Agree it’s difficult in the middle of the race and you’re already knackered trying to figure which segment is which.

That’s a really tough course and then finish I think sometimes there’s no real reason to why you feel crap then the legs come back halfway through a race 🤷🏼‍♂️.
Like jake said doing hard and easy efforts is the trend I have been trying to do about 7-8 hours per week couple races then some easy and a longer slow ride at the weekend sort of keeping me where I’m at level wise. But it’s good you know if you make mistakes I never used to 😂

Hi Niloc, yes very tough course - to have the 3 leg snappers then the KOM is brutal, really strange that the legs finally worked again with about 10 mins to go.
I’m definitely going to look into the 80/20 as Jake mentioned, I really need to make the most of my time on the bike!! Good to hear a couple of races and then a longer ride at the weekend works for you as I think that’d be my preference as well 👍🏻

Depends on the person, but I usually find that my 2nd match is the strongest one. So on the 1st I wouldnt ever try even to push max and take it as a leg opener, and on the 2nd all out -- which is probably the only match I have. Also if you I do max effort too early in the race I find it super difficult to recover... maybe worth considering ;)

Hi Zika, yeah I agree actually - I’m usually think the 2nd match is the strongest one! Yeah also agree, once I’ve used my match that is pretty much it!! 👍🏻
