    I respect Chael for respecting his trash talking boundaries - you can only get so far without humility

    • @cosmicabyss7358
      @cosmicabyss7358 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its not necessarily humility as much as the fighters understand the social dynamics outside of fighting towards other fighters.
      Mike Tyson doesn't hate Chael because he knows Chael was just talking like a fighter and its not meant to be personal.

  • @cavedog294
    @cavedog294 11 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    When Ariel brings up Mike Tyson, Chael looks down at his feet like a little kid like 'Oh man...' and then realises it's good news.

    This is what Renzo said to him:
    “I just asked him to behave with the greatness of a champion. Many fighters dream with that opportunity, to fight the best and test themselves in the toughest sport that existed. Be great, be bold, be fair, and above all, be honest. Some will love you, others will hate you, but they will know who you really are. Fight this fight in a way that will be unforgettable to those who had the privilege to watch. I won’t miss a second of this great match.”

    People don't get it. It wasn't the spinning backfist. Sonnen was exhausted in round two, his cardio was shot. Why? Because Dolce had him drop 20 lbs of water weight in 24 hours before the fight which ruined his endurance.

    Fair enough but them days of constant rematches don't work now that there are more fighters on the roster and more fans. Back then Chuck, Ortiz, Couture and even Shamrock were the biggest stars and they constantly re matched coz there wasn't too many more big stars. Now there is more options for new title fights with more fighters and fans get sick of rematches now. Personally i'm done with Silva vs Chael after 2 clear defeats. I'm excited with Chael at LHW.

    As dominant as JJ is and as good a coach Greg Jackson is I wouldn't be surprised if that is all he has been working on since he got the title. Which although it is not too long ago, still is a couple years training. However, even that is a testament to how good JJ is. He is still learning!!! Which means he is going to get better!!! That is a scary thought.

    Well ironically, Renzo didn't call Chael to cuss him out. He says this on a phone interview with Ariel. He called Chael to let him know that he's a tough and great fighter, but he needs to focus on training (hence Silva said this as well) rather than talking smack. He told him to keep his eyes on the prize and if he really puts the effort and motivation, that he's confident that Chael would get the belt. He also mentions his thoughts after the fight and how disappointed he was in Chael.

    what the fuck is this the NBA? NFL? Your kid's little league baseball? NO! this is the Ultimate Fighting Championship! Two FIGHTERS should have the right to smack talk with no repercussions. This is real life WWE! This isn't your nearest jiu jitsu dojo. Silva should be the universal symbol for the ridiculous amount of sensitivity the world has. 1. Didn't look like a lot and didn't seem to make much of a difference, he got the takedown, he got mount, he failed to finish the fight because of Andersons grip.
    2. The short grabbing is a tactic which Chael and the majority of grapplers have used to frustrate limit their opponents movement, Chael understands fighting dirty, you fight dirty with a dirty fighter.
    3. The knee was not illegal because it was aimed at the chest, regardless of if a part of his leg hit his face. Check the replay.

    It's one thing to promote a fight like saying the guy has no skills, glass chin, no heart etc, but you don't go personal, talking about a guy's family, his home country etc. What's his reason for trashing the likes of CroCop, Fedor or Nogueira, guys who actually made this sport so popular and don't even fight at his weight? These guys never used trash talking to climb their way to the top and were always humble and respectful. Ali was famous for trash talking, but never on a personal level.

    chuck vs ortiz, shamrock vs ortiz. if chael keeps up the hype they will fight again, i honestly think chael has the best chance to dethrone silva at the minute because he is a bad match up for anderson, anderson however is an absolute legend and dominating champion, i think the intrest is there as silva fans want to see him shut up chael for good and the chael fans want to see him lift the title. just my opinion i have massive respect for all fighters.
