    This is what Renzo said to him:
    “I just asked him to behave with the greatness of a champion. Many fighters dream with that opportunity, to fight the best and test themselves in the toughest sport that existed. Be great, be bold, be fair, and above all, be honest. Some will love you, others will hate you, but they will know who you really are. Fight this fight in a way that will be unforgettable to those who had the privilege to watch. I won’t miss a second of this great match.”

    I respect Chael for respecting his trash talking boundaries - you can only get so far without humility

    • @cosmicabyss7358
      @cosmicabyss7358 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its not necessarily humility as much as the fighters understand the social dynamics outside of fighting towards other fighters.
      Mike Tyson doesn't hate Chael because he knows Chael was just talking like a fighter and its not meant to be personal.

    Ali was a world champ that defended his belt many times & backed up what he said & stood by it, & talked shit to everyone all the time, unlike sonnen who only seems to do it to brazilians, unlike he did with bisping or stann, & he's never held a world title & has not faced that many great fighters like silva, he had a good fight where he LOST to an injured silva, while cheating

    what the fuck is this the NBA? NFL? Your kid's little league baseball? NO! this is the Ultimate Fighting Championship! Two FIGHTERS should have the right to smack talk with no repercussions. This is real life WWE! This isn't your nearest jiu jitsu dojo. Silva should be the universal symbol for the ridiculous amount of sensitivity the world has. Everyone is so fixated on meaningless words and overlook horrendous actions. Put shit in perspective for once.

    Renzo, show some respect. You're a guest in our country. If you want to go back to Brazil and get in people's business be my guest. There's something we invented in this country that's called selling a fight. That's how we here in America took a sport from the Podunk organizations in your country and turned it into an International spectacle. If it had been up to the Gracie's, these guys would still be rolling on the floor for hour long contests with no breaks and the audience half asleep.

  • @onalyd
    @onalyd 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    aww man, don't listen to Renzo. He was always a boring fighter that I never wanted to watch or listen to his interviews. Chael on the other hand is the most entertaining interview in history of sport and MMA understand that trash talk is done in jest. Any good comedian knows you need to push the line and I'm pissed that Renzo would call and lecture him. Renzo's last name is Gracie but other than that there's no way his MMA 'royalty' in the league of a Randy Couture

    That made sense though, since what other 37 year old men wear pink t-shirts, wear sparkling earings and have role models like Michael Jackson (Who slept with kids). My point is valid, your point was the Chael Sonnen is a homosexual because he is a wrestler which made absolutely no sense, which made your point invalid, which means I win this argument. Silva wears pink shirts and sparkling earings and is a black belt in BJJ (In your head *Rolling around on the ground with other men*), in what way in Chael Sonnen a homosexual? I think people need to realize that Dana needs to sell a product, not just the fight but the buildup. Many fighters like Chael are DESIGNED to be the bad guy. What is said many times is fulfilling a roll. As with many things in life, what you see/hear is not even close to the truth.

    Watch Bushido, that high kick barely touched the masked wrestler, even Cro Cop looked at him funny. Semmy and Hunt foresure are great K1 fighters, although Semmy had his success after the Fedor fight. Fedor never fought them standing though, that was my point. There are so many great K1 fighters but in mma it's a different ball game. Can't strike the same in a mma match. Yes Coleman never evolved different era, just like Randleman. Maybe overrated isn't the word for Coleman.

  • @UsernameInvalidError
    @UsernameInvalidError 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, check Google.
    Cro Cop never faced masked Japanese wrestler and that guy actually called for Cro Cop. Fixed? Why, cause Cro Cop didn't have a chance in that fight? And I'm not so sure anyone wants to get blasted with that kick.
    Fixed fights in PRIDE? Coleman-Takada?
    Fixed fights in UFC? Taktarov-Macias? Same stuff.
    You're claiming Schilt and Hunt are not some of the best K-1 fighters of all time?
    Coleman overrated? Well, that's why he's a UFC's Hall of Famer and so on...

  • @cujo905
    @cujo905 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    cont... Why would I have to google to find out my opinion on who the goat is. At this point it's Anderson Silva, and still at almost 38 years old. Pride was certainly the best org for about 4 years. Mainly in 2 divisions though but too many japanese fighters who were can's and fed to the stars (except Sakuraba) Wandy KO'd like 16 of them which makes his record look great too. Despite I loved Pride, it was very shady and had no structure at all. It was paying more at the time though

  • @cujo905
    @cujo905 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I misunderstood, thought you meant Fedor stood with K1 elite which he only did with Cro cop. Coleman was really overrated. Barnett was still considered a UFC champ failing a drug test. Do you not know why Pride folded? There certainly were some fixed fights. Off the top of my head a clear one was Cro Cop against that masked Japanese wrestler. Gary Goodridge said in his book there were plenty of fixed fights, he was offered a few times himself to take a fall.

  • @UsernameInvalidError

    For such an educated fan you're claiming to be...
    Fedor's wins over UFC Champs: Nog, Coleman, Barnett, Sylvia, Arlovski
    Fedor's wins over K-1 elites: Cro Cop, Schilt, Hunt
    Cro Cop's wins over K-1 elites: Aerts, Le Banner, Hunt, Bernardo, Bonjasky, Musashi, Greco, Sefo...
    Fixes in PRIDE? Name top 5 fixes please. And to me it's pretty clear why PRIDE had everybody.
    As for who's the best fighter ever in MMA just search Google: ''goat poll 73 12''

  • @cujo905

    FORMER ufc champs, dont be so delushional. how many best k1 strikers has fedor faced? Are u referring to Cro cop? Never won a k1 championship and had a kickboxing record of 19-7. I bet you never wondered where Pride originally got alot of their fighters, yes the UFC. I loved Pride but any educated fan knew the fixes and mismatches that went on, truth came out in the end when alot of them all of a sudden became human when coming to the UFC. And yes Silva is the best MMA fighter ever.

    Jesus Christ are Sonnen fanboys still complaining?! Chael got beaten twice dude, ain't no fluke by Silva. Chael is nothing but a big mouth, get's his title shots through talking. Hell, he only got the decision over Bisping becasue of the rematch with Silva on the horizon. Chael talked shit about Wanderlai then met him in real life and what did he do? Sonnen shat his pants and Wanderlai talked to him like he was a little child. Just watch, Jones will destroy Chael.

  • @dajify
    @dajify 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    "only in America they get away with all this shit talk"? That has to be one of the most absurd statements I've ever seen. Watch Anderson vs Maia and explain to me how Silva is so humble. Also, in my estimation a humble person doesn't get butthurt when someone insults or teases them and doesn't misconstrue every joke as an insult to national pride. Btw, Anderson (who is IMO the GOAT) viewed his wins over Sonnen as something big.

  • @UsernameInvalidError
    @UsernameInvalidError 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Even if you can take all that as a joke, how can you agree with it? By trash talking he's got another title fight now which is even a ridiculous matchup. If someone legitimately deserved to fight Jones before he moves up to HW (120kg) that's Dan Henderson, not 80kg 'TRT buildup' Sonnen. Joke? He shi* his pants when he met Wanderlei outside, imagine what would happen if he ever meets CroCop or Fedor. Many were fired from the UFC for dope and bad jokes, yet somehow he's getting title shots...Joke?

  • @UsernameInvalidError
    @UsernameInvalidError 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's one thing to promote a fight like saying the guy has no skills, glass chin, no heart etc, but you don't go personal, talking about a guy's family, his home country etc. What's his reason for trashing the likes of CroCop, Fedor or Nogueira, guys who actually made this sport so popular and don't even fight at his weight? These guys never used trash talking to climb their way to the top and were always humble and respectful. Ali was famous for trash talking, but never on a personal level.

    chuck vs ortiz, shamrock vs ortiz. if chael keeps up the hype they will fight again, i honestly think chael has the best chance to dethrone silva at the minute because he is a bad match up for anderson, anderson however is an absolute legend and dominating champion, i think the intrest is there as silva fans want to see him shut up chael for good and the chael fans want to see him lift the title. just my opinion i have massive respect for all fighters.

  • @mrbuck49
    @mrbuck49 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe if they meet again Chael has a great chance of winning, he destroyed sylva in the last fight, he just got careless, sylva did win in the end but he lost 90 % of the rest of the fight, it for sure looked like he could not handle Chael. a rematch would be a big seller I think even if Cheal lost those two fights, Jones would also be a good fight for sylva.

    chael is most intelligent, eloquent fighter out there and after interbviews like this, very likeable (in contrast to spotlight personality), but, the reason he's top 10 fighter is because he's intelligent, calculated, determined, and commited...he has very little talent, and very little heart compared to other fighters.so hes at a disadvantage going into the ring with top level fighters because they in contrast do have the qualities he lacks

    Im gonna save this comment and post it again when Weidman smashes and abuses Silva. Silva is a stud, thats for sure. Chris is on a different level than any guy the spider has ever fought. When you are an athlete with unbelievable skill who doesn't talk shit, you don't get the respect or attention that these other guys do. Weidman will ground Silva and once he does, the pounding will begin. Weidman wins by stoppage, lock it up!!!

    Its completely ignorant to blame Weidman and not Rosenthal for the end of that fight, who at this point is one of the worst refs in the business with continual missed calls. And Weidman didnt just smash Munoz, he beat him on all levels, who mind you was considered to be next in line for a title shot and Weidman could not have made that fight look any easier. You sound like everyone who said Jon Jones didnt have enough fights and would get demolished by Shogun, and we know how that ended.

    1. Didn't look like a lot and didn't seem to make much of a difference, he got the takedown, he got mount, he failed to finish the fight because of Andersons grip.
    2. The short grabbing is a tactic which Chael and the majority of grapplers have used to frustrate limit their opponents movement, Chael understands fighting dirty, you fight dirty with a dirty fighter.
    3. The knee was not illegal because it was aimed at the chest, regardless of if a part of his leg hit his face. Check the replay.

    who did he duck?? chael went on this ran saying anderson ducked him for six years. and then when anderson showed interested in fighting people chael said "when your champ you dont call people out you just take fights" thats another qoute where chael just contradicted himself and anderson says millions of times that he fights whoever. who does he duck from he beat the guy that had the best style to beat him.(twice)

    Im not even a huge silva fan i respect his skills but think hes overated. The fact is even if he did hold the shorts its not like the shots he landed while doing it ended the fight. So take a point away it wouldnt have changed anything. And the "greasing" incident well it didnt seem to help him in the first round or seem to be a factor at all, its not like he slipped out of something then landed the knee. And if the knee was illegal the athletic comission would be trying to overturn the decsion.

    i knew after he went on Joe Rogan Podcast that he was just super intelligent and playing the game the way that made the UFC and himself more money. Hes sorta like Glen Beck, or Bill O'Reily. They are not quite as obnoxious as they pretend to be. But they play that role as a career, All three are brilliant and very kind men. But they are smart enough to know that you cannot please everyone, especially ignorant fans like myself and so many others. ONly your family anf friends really know you.

    Chael is a nice guy, he just have hard feeling with anderson silva becoz the guy abuse him by ignoring his rematch challange for 2 years. anderson went to fight other lower rated fighter other than chael. They both have their own way of abusing one another. Anderson abuse him by not giving chance to chael wihle chael think he deserve the rematch. and chael abuse anderson with words, thats just expressing how he feels.

  • @Austinn801
    @Austinn801 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    why the fuck is everybody freaking out about holding the shorts they never even take points away for that unless they repeatedly keep doing it after several warnings. It is not even a big deal and gives you a very small advantage especailly if your not using it to get the takedown. Seriously anderson would probably have to do that 5 more times to get a point taken, just face it people chael had 2 chances to be champion and it didnt happen. CHAEL SONNEN WILL NEVER BE A CHAMPION END OF STORY.

    So basically you just admitted that your first statement was wrong and confirm he didn't complain. I have no problem with Sonnen saying or doing anything he wants because he doesn't claim to be morally better then another person. Anderson on the other hand does, So was Anderson action before and during the fight that of a person claiming the moral high ground? Would he ask for cheers probably not, but he will still give credit when it's due. Watch the post fight conferences.

  • @mrboraporra
    @mrboraporra 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    he didnt complain because he LOST and he was absolutely ashamed for losing about talking all bullshit for years!!! chael cheating on muñoz doesn't count cuz mark won (it was an ILLEGAL move)? anderson has the conduct of an athlete. he could say whatever he wanted to chael after the fight but he asked for cheers. you really think chael would do this if he had won? anderson is incomparable, inside or outside the octagon.

  • @mrboraporra
    @mrboraporra 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    ... holding shorts, ok he could discout a point on anderson's score. but what would it change? it was a k.o fella... you cant compare both attitudes. one is respectful and is an real athlete (anderson). chael is just a crying baby (who doesnt respect anything,) complaining against the world because never got any title. ps.: if u still want to complain about the holding pants, i think it was mark muños who chael cheated on in some wrestling competition when they were younger, search about it =P

  • @mrboraporra
    @mrboraporra 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    no not this, chael was disrespectful with everyone, not just anderson. his conduct outside the octogon and as an athlete. you may not agree with me bud, but he used drugs for training, he actually broke the law and stuff. anderson is not humble, but he is respectful. in 2 years of chael just talking bullshit, he just started answering 1 week ago. you can't compare both conducts. about the vaseline, the referee checks it up and dry for everyone before the fight. about the knee, it was legal...

    at fighting inconsistent fighters. yes your all right !! thumbs up.
    lets try stop telling lies.....
    i really respect anderson silva and like him more for how he handled himself after the fight.
    BUT........
    lets stop lying about how anderson won the 2 fights...
    he won them cos chael made a mistake.....twice now
    he stupidly threw a spinning back fist and we all saw him FALL......
    anderson is obv going to be able to capitalise on a guys mistake, its not exactly warrior fashion.

    silva taunted maia cause maia was talking shit before their fight and silva said he said very disrespectful things, he could have toyed around with forrest griffin and taunted the crap out of him but he didn't...why? because forrest didn't disrespect him...everything silva did was because of what chael was saying he even brough his wife and country into it....also chael said he held his shorts right back and will do it in a future fight too...and silva even asked the audience to applaud chael...

    This is the real Chael, an extremely nice person. Unfortunately he went too far with his talk and he had to eat his words. But that's what fighters should be doing anyhow. I hope he rebounds and makes another run for the title. As for Silva, I disliked him since his disgusting behavior towards Demian Maia at ufc 112 and I hope someone humbles him. I think Chael is right about Silva being phony.

    I want Anderson Silve to absolutely destroy this guy. He's trying to play the righteous good guy role, after he says Anderson Silva wife is gonna cook his steak medium rare, after he beats Silva. But I'm not a UFC fan overall. Don't like Dana White or Chael Sonnen ! Can't stand Dana White. I'll never watch or support UFC as a fan, so long as he's around. I will only watch a lil here and there.

    Now you're assuming things and putting words in my mouth because you're angry and about to pop a vein. I am not calling Brazil stupid cavemen, I said "IF Brazil is mad...." I did not call them stupid cavemen, you did for assuming that. My point is, we all know Daniel Tosh (for example) does some crude jokes about other ethnicity and we laugh about it. I mean c'mon. Chael want to hype up the fight to get more money. And please, stop assuming about what was said between Chael and Renzo's convo.

    @carltheman666 hahaha I guess new generation is considered watching ufc since 1995 right? I don't even want to ask you how old you because you'll obviously say a fake age. Fedor is a fan crusher. PERIOD. He actually went on to fight semi pro fighters in strikeforce (except hendo) and got finished 3 times. Then what does he do? He goes back to fighting CANS to try and look good again before he retires but now the whole world knows why his management was ducking the best fighters in the world.

    So, according to a wiki, Sonnens testosterone levels were 4x greater than they should have been due to hormone replacement therapy (please correct me if this is wrong). I understand he has a medical condition, but he certainly shouldn't be allowed to fight with testosterone levels artificially raised well above normal levels. Does anyone know if they have addressed this issue for 148? or will he again be going into the fight with artificially inflated testosterone?

    And who says cheal doesn't have respect, renzo Gracie phoned him up and I bet what exactly was said was, "you did the hype, you did the fight, you got the re,arch promoted that a but for the grudge match, now it's time to train and put your money where your mouth is cause look at your future if you lose after all this trash talk" so I foresee a meaner, stronger and tougher cheal with a lot more finishing ability and submission defence, now who says he doesn't have respect for brazilians

    I don't Know...the only wrestler Jones ever fought was Rashad, and rashad had a wimpy fight with him. Shogun and rampage are brawlers and Lyoto is the karate kid type of fighter. Tru that Belfort caught him in the arm bar, but powerfull wrestlers like chad, he never foguht, and I've always said that Jones on the ground being grind is the best way to try and win the fight.

    Okami has beaten Anderson Silva. There, named a fighter that came closer. Funny how Sonnen needed elevated levels of TRT (steroid) and Silva's fractured rib to dominate that fight. Sonnen threw 300 punches and didn't even leave a scratch on Silva's face. Would have done more damage hitting Silva with a pillow.

    Yes, search Google.
    PRIDE was best for 4 years? No, it was clearly 10.
    No structure? Besides regular cards, PRIDE also had Grand Prix tournaments like K-1 and in Arenas with 70000 people in attendance.
    ''Japanese cans?'' Only fighter on Earth that ever said that was Sonnen.
    So, Anderson lost to ''Japanese cans''...Who is he beating then?
    Your stories make no sense, bye.

    fuck whatever people say about Sonnen. He is a great fighter despite his losses and fun to listen to. If you have listened to the Joe Rogan podcast you will realize that he is actually a good guy and pretty intelligent. He puts on a show because that is what is required for most casual fans, but he is not a terrible human being.

    Its a two way road, Jon Jones himself said he has no intention on fighting Anderson his idol. And Weidman is in no way ready to face Silva in my oppinion. As for GSP they both need to agree on it but that wont be happening anytime soon seeing as he is injured and when he does get back he will have to fight Condit

    PS The insults are a waste of text. I read that "Chael Sonnen tested outside of the allowable range for testosterone, TRT or no-TRT.", if that is the case, how is it that he did not take more than the necessary or allowable amount of testosterone? If he's doing TRT, he should still have ratios that are within the normal expectable range, what am I missing here?

    no, u didnt get what i meant. i said he is complaining against the world always, because he never won anything. and sorry dude but really he claims a lot, but he cant be the best... he is always trying to show everybody that he is "the best" but in fact he is a mediocre fighter, who talks a lot. i will check it ;)

    Its called hyping a fight. I don't agree with all the horribly disrespectful things he's said, but I think its called marketing and trying to sell tickets. Whether or not he belived what he said, I don't know. Anderson Silva was the only opponent of his that he talked trash about, but then again, it was his only championship fight.

  • @zel2113

    Chael didn't complain about anything in the post fight and Mark won against Chael in wrestling. Anderson claims to be a martial artist so should be held to that standard.
    Anderson shouldn't have tried to grease himself nor hold a person shorts. I don't see how people can still look up to a guy that willing to say one thing then do another.

    Anderson cheated twice in that fight holding Chael's shorts, preventing Chael's one and only strength, ground and pounding. I lost all respect for Anderson. No one will ever know what would have happened had he not cheated and Chael took him to the ground. We do know that Chael has great ability on the ground. How would fans like it if Anderson was not allowed to strike???
