For anyone wondering how this isn't patched yet: carpet duping, as well as rail and TNT duping, are all the same glitch manifesting in different ways (see the Paper server client for proof of this). Since Mojang is waiting to patch TNT duping until they come up with something worthy of replacing it, all three dupes remain.
