I have stocked Medano Creek with native fish for a few years. I met the biologists at the offices and we set out to stock the fish. It was always nerve racking driving our F-450 duely truck over the sand. It was also interesting navigating the narrow spots but each year we got the fish safely in the water. Nice video!
That IS impressive with a f-450 Duely!!! When we were in Moab 2 years ago on the white rim trail we pulled over for a f250 coming up one of the side trails... It was a Park Ranger Truck doing repairs at the river picnic spot and i was SHOCKED he made it down there! It was very tight and off camber!
Did the Medano last week in our '02 4Runner (300k miles on her). Fun ride, pretty easy, had some rain along the trail, but still pretty easy. And very scenic! Nice video. Enjoyed the trip with you.
The first two times I was ever in the Madeno was in a model A Ford. It was two wheel drive and the only problem we ever had was the gas tank is in the dash and it's gravity feed gasoline to the carb. It would run out of gas if the hill was to steep so some hills we had to back up.
I drove it in my '12 z71 with 285-18s. Didn't air down and pulled a 4runner off the side of the road. He was racing up the road at dusk and not expecting anyone to be coming down, met us in a corner and dodged to the side but didn't stop in time.

Thunderstorms are not Fronts. Gust fronts come from thunderstorm overdevelopment. Both inflow and outflow winds. Medano pass is not pronounced medino.
