She basically dictated the direction of pop music for almost 20 years. Blackout is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for literally shifting the direction of pop music into electropop in 2007. and she did it again in 2011 for pop using dubstep. she’s unmatched as a performer. An icon!!
Larry Rudolph said she learned Piano in one weekend. Shortly after she started writing Everytime. I also saw a comment that said the director of Overprotected videos said Britney showed up to set crying because Justin broke up with her in a text. She was so strong for so long. Everyone has a breaking point. At that age I had friends taking their own lives for much less that she was subjected to. It’s a miracle she’s alive and still has some of her marbles left. There’s so much more to her than she gets credit for. I hope she finds true happiness.
Britney did the antidrop in Shattered Glass back in 08. Again she did years before, something that became mainstream. Today the antidrop is at it’s highest.
"I will be there" was always one of my favourites off her Baby One More Time album. It gives me unabashed bubblegum pop mashed with the guitar driven riffs found on Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn'.
I think your friend chose a lot of great titles as deep cuts, each one defines the sound that was happening at the time it was released. Fan favorites are always deeply subjective, I know people who strongly dislike Cinderella but I definitely consider it one of my highlights of 'Britney'. How I Roll was an interesting choice from Femme Fatale, I'm guessing your friend is a hyperpop fan - it's a great track, just unexpected! The choices for In the Zone, Blackout, Circus, Britney Jean (even with the hot mess production on the final/released version of Alien smdh), & Glory are all really great tracks to explore and represent the album's sound. I highly recommend exploring Blackout or In the Zone if you need a first album to react to. One of those are, without a doubt, the majority of Britney fan's favorite album! Fun facts about Blackout.. first and only album of hers to be inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame, also the first mainstream album to introduce dubstep. She inspired bringing dubstep into mainstream. Also the last album she did before the conservatorship, it was the album she had the most creative freedom over and it’s now referred to as the “pop bible” artists in the industry reference the “Britney model” when building a career and Blackout is what started all of it. Funny bc that’s when her “breakdown” began.. If you don’t even get to every album, which you should. Blackout, Glory, and in the zone are definitely her holy trinity!💕💕 Honestly her vocals and song writing and musicianship is far greater than what people realize. Here’s my list from 1998 until now. 1. From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart - Baby… One More Time 2. Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know (Written by Shania Twain) - Oops! I Did It Again 3. Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman (written by Dido) - Britney 4. Shadow - In The Zone 4.5 Someday, I’ll Understand (not on an album) 5. Why Should I Be Sad - Blackout 6. Out From Under - Circus 7. He About To Lose Me - Femme Fatale 8. Perfume - Britney Jean 9. Swimming In The Stars - Glory Deluxe 10. You Got It All (bonus track/cover ) - Oops!
Definitely want to see more Britney! Watched the whole video. 'Just Like Me' off Glory has always been a favorite of mine, along with "What You Need" her vocals in there are so fire 🔥
Thanks so much for this! She’s truly an underappreciated artist with more versatility than most people realize. And one of the most underappreciated aspects of her artistry is her writing. I guessed every song your friend was going to choose through Blackout. Definitely thought he would go with Unusual You for Circus, Inside Out for Femme Fatale, and Mood Ring for Glory.
Loved this! Make sure if you do her discography to listen to bonus tracks. Some of her coolest stuff is bonus tracks. There’s also a cool EP between in the zone and blackout when she was pregnant called Chaotic that has a sing written by Robyn with Imogen Heap on BGV
I am a huge Britney fan so.. I am bias but her music catalog is literally pop perfection and her studio vocals are serverly underrated. I feel really bad in a way because I feel like there is a perception that Britney is all manufacturing but she isn't manufactured any more then any other artist. In fact I think Britney may be the most authentic person in that world. I know the conservatorship created a stain but Britney has always been super involved in the process and any song that she gets she turns into a masterpiece, along with the amazing producers that have worked with her. I have turned a lot of haters into fans lol.. because I feel like a lot of people do this whole "Britney isn't cool and I'm embarrassed to like her".. get over it and dive in lol You really should do full albums.. I know 100% if your unfamiliar you will walk away feeling brand new about Britney. The hits have absolutely nothing on the full catalog and I'm not just saying that.. she takes pop music to so many interesting places on the albums. I agree with these picks but I mean.. there are so many more you need to experience lol **You asked what we thought of Freakshow.. I think you will find that every album has this central message and actually eerily predicts her problems and the conservatorship and what happens in her career and life. You really should listen to her song Mona Lisa.. it's so crazy how much that song predicted what was coming for her.. Lucky does that as well.. so does Slave 4 U.. Britney is totally an enigma and when you dive into the catalog with this clear mind that you have.. you will walk away blown away I promise. Side note... all of her #1's came after 2008 except for one of them and that's Baby One More Time.. people like to act like she wasn't there.. and your absolutely realizing that. Her album Femme Fatale from 2011 was actually the 1st album of hers that all 4 singles charted in the Top 40.. all of the albums had massive hits but people would be surprised to know that 2011 was her most successful radio play album.
Ugh please do a part 2 but with the following tracks, you'll love them, they're more real or more classic Britney OIDIA - don't go knock my door Blackout - why should i be sad Circus - mannequin FF - Out from under/he about to lose me BJ - don't cry Glory - Liar
Mate your kind loving words of Britney are wonderful I’m a huge realistic Britney fan and she’s just a human like us , her music is iconic and blackout is absolutely my favourite , it’s raw , real and deep and sexy , amazing video mate ❤️❤️❤️
That was a really nice video. Being a huge Britney fan starting from her early career, and you actually think that there’s amazing hits on her supposed being “bad” albums, actually made me somehow emotional, since I always found something enjoyable on all her albums. So very many thanks for this one

Britney has the best discography when it comes to pop girls. Period.

@tony t agreed. I usually don’t care for bonus tracks (I feel like they were pulled for a reason) but Britney’s are usually excellent!
Actually freakshow is the first song ever to mix pop with dubstep. She innovated and changed music with blackout
That the queen did 👑
Then Hold It Against Me was the first song to push dubstep to the top of the charts and into the mainstream music industry
I came here to say that!!! It was Britney who created that shift she originated that mix in pop music then it was everywhere
There are so many gems in her deep cuts. Like “Where Are You Now” on the Oops album shows a shocking vocal ability
Don't forget I run away from her third album. That song still gives me chills.

Do it! I love your input.. people don’t appreciate her creative sound and the versatility she brings to dance music. She is and forever will be a vibe💅🏼
Please do it ! More Britney

Yes please do all her albums!!!
I guessed every song your friend was going to choose through Blackout. Definitely thought he would go with Unusual You for Circus, Inside Out for Femme Fatale, and Mood Ring for Glory.
Loved every minute of this I need morrrre 🤩
Yessss I can’t wait to watch your journey through her discography!!!
Still waiting for this Journey two years later 😢
YESS OMG WE NEED YOU TO GO THROUGH HER ALBUMS TO SEE HER GROWTH
Just subscribed and I can't wait to see your reactions to her albums! so excited for them
Loved this! Make sure if you do her discography to listen to bonus tracks. Some of her coolest stuff is bonus tracks. There’s also a cool EP between in the zone and blackout when she was pregnant called Chaotic that has a sing written by Robyn with Imogen Heap on BGV
her holy trinity is in the zone, blackout, glory
I am a huge Britney fan so.. I am bias but her music catalog is literally pop perfection and her studio vocals are serverly underrated. I feel really bad in a way because I feel like there is a perception that Britney is all manufacturing but she isn't manufactured any more then any other artist. In fact I think Britney may be the most authentic person in that world. I know the conservatorship created a stain but Britney has always been super involved in the process and any song that she gets she turns into a masterpiece, along with the amazing producers that have worked with her. I have turned a lot of haters into fans lol.. because I feel like a lot of people do this whole "Britney isn't cool and I'm embarrassed to like her".. get over it and dive in lol
You really should do full albums.. I know 100% if your unfamiliar you will walk away feeling brand new about Britney. The hits have absolutely nothing on the full catalog and I'm not just saying that.. she takes pop music to so many interesting places on the albums. I agree with these picks but I mean.. there are so many more you need to experience lol
**You asked what we thought of Freakshow..
Her album Femme Fatale from 2011 was actually the 1st album of hers that all 4 singles charted in the Top 40.. all of the albums had massive hits but people would be surprised to know that 2011 was her most successful radio play album.
and its why us in high school back in the late 90s and early 2000s made many dances to her music. very catchy and fun
but also the lyrics telling her stories behind the music and noone really caught on and just thought it was some pop star portraying characters
Ugh please do a part 2 but with the following tracks, you'll love them, they're more real or more classic Britney
OIDIA - don't go knock my door
Blackout - why should i be sad
Circus - mannequin
FF - Out from under/he about to lose me
BJ - don't cry
Glory - Liar
liar is so underrated !!!!
You did a little mistake out from under is from Circus but i agree with your choices 😁

This is heaven!! ✨✨ There’s a lot of Britney songs that are really really good! You definitely review her albums (except Britney Jean 😂 )
LMAO at your reaction to 'Touch of My Hand' when you realised!! AHAHAHA
That was a really nice video.
Being a huge Britney fan starting from her early career, and you actually think that there’s amazing hits on her supposed being “bad” albums, actually made me somehow emotional, since I always found something enjoyable on all her albums.
So very many thanks for this one
I would love to see you reacting/analysing her discography. I'm subscribing and I can't wait 😉
