To me the best part of how this episode was put together is that there is a reason why the Weeping Angels don't move at particular times. It's because while the CHARACTERS aren't looking, we the audience ARE. They only ever move when both the characters AND the audience can't see them.
@@shadowfragmentBut they didn't. You're talking about the two part special pater on with the 11th doctor A time of angels and Flesh and Stone when we see the angels moving. But we aren't seeing the angels as they are always in statue form. We are seeing the angels move in that miniscule gap inbetween the frames of the film and turning back to stone. In that sense it is the best thing they've ever done with the angels
Fun Fact: The actor who played young Billy had to redub his entire performance because the actor they hired to play the older version of him had an accent. It's a perfect redub performance, and that ain't easy.
Carey Mulligan is fantastic in this episode. She's an academy award nominated actress now but back then she was basically unknown. She has to come in as a totally new character and carry the episode and keep the viewer into it and she knocks it out of the park.
One of the best DW guest starring performances ever. Moffatt used to always say he couldn't imagine this silly little script of his getting so popular, but I'm 100% convinced that it's all because of her.
"Get out of there, I want you to have a cute relationship with her!" Is how we all felt, and shows how less than two minutes of chemistry can control us viewers.

@@TheKonkaman Yeah, but she had several children, only one of them was named Sally, the messenger only told the grandmother's name. He could be the son of another sibling.
My favourite story about this was from a Who fan from the Netherlands. A lot of people there tend to be fairly fluent in English, and this was when video calls were just getting _somewhat_ more common. Also, Doctor Who wasn't all that popular or well-known at the time. So that Who fan had the "easter egg" video of the Doctor on their laptop and went to a public park with lots of people. Sat down and had the exact "conversation" as Sally in the episode. They apparently got a _lot_ of looks from people around them 🤣
This is the episode I always look forward to the most when watching someone react to Doctor Who and you ladies did not disappoint! I'm pretty sure it's still one of the most popular episodes ever and it's cool that Paula was able to come into it completely blind. Great stuff!
Interesting fact, young Billy had to redo his lines because old Billy couldn’t do an English accent and there was no reason he would suddenly develop a Jamaican accent.
This is one of the best if not the best Doctor less episodes ever. And immediatly an entire new villian that works extremly well as a horror character. They are maybe the best invention of either Moffat or Davis. The theory behind the weeping angels is very appealing btw. Without spoiling it but i think Anna knows what i mean :p

I am so glad that someone finally talked about the Director. Hettie McDonald Everyone else gets credit all the time for this episode, but man does she bring it.....
Yeah it doesn’t make much sense. I think TV shows in general are more story driven as it has to get you back for the next episode so the writer gets credit if its good but the directing is SOO important. Actors have to be given motivation, how to say lines, what the context of the scene is, how the emotions are expressed & even stuff like facial expressions are told to them sometimes. It is very odd the writer gets all the credit. I’m glad these two pointed it out.
I have been so desensitized by the Doctor Who comment section on most Reactor's channel's that I missed out on an excellent conversation that could have taken place. That was my bad, thank you everyone who commented, it has restored my faith that a conversation can exist in a Doctor Who comment section, I had forgotten, it was possible...........
I remember seeing this when it first came out. The teaser with the "Blink and you're dead" bit. Then the episode itself was incredible. I don't know how many times I watched it. Then on the DVD it actually had the easter egg of Tennant's side of the speech which you could talk to in real time. This episode was before Carey Mulligan was in anything else but you could tell she was going to be big. She gives such an amazing performance.
Watching Paula slowly piece together how the Angels are working at the start of the episode is amazing. Great reaction as always and interesting to find out about the director of this episode. I never knew about Hettie McDonald and I've watched this show and this episode in particular countless times. Never really thought about it as I always just went to "Moffat" or "Davies" in my head.

Oh sh**, Sally had a picture of a Weeping Angel and she put it in the dossier she gave to the Doctor. I wonder if it's still in the TARDIS, waiting for the right moment. Or maybe the Doctor got rid of it... 🤔
Catherine was transported back to 1920, Billy to 1969. Catherine married the first guy she met in Hull, so I bet she had her third child Sally before 1930. Billy's wife Sally doesn't look 40 - it's possible but they chose unlikely years. Mind you Catherine's grandson looks like he was born around 1970, and not like Billy... I'd love it to be true.
Nothing. For one, you have to look into the angel's eyes for the image of an angel to be dangerous, and the angel in the photo in Sally's packet was covering its eyes, so no threat there. Beyond that, though, it was always going to be safe because it already _was_ safe (in other words, it's a causality loop). If the picture she included was dangerous, then the Doctor would have been "infected" with an angel when he looked at it, it would have killed him from the inside out because he would've had no idea what was going on, and then he wouldn't have been able to use the packet to help Sally get through her experience. But if he didn't help Sally, she would've died too, and then she wouldn't have been able to give the Doctor the packet in the first place.
