I'm looking at this way too deeply, but this really does represent Kaneki's story so far, falling down a hill with no way of stopping, stumbling and uncontrolled at the start but as it slowly progresses gets better and better but still going down, but with the company of others and then loses sight of them and falls again. But gets up again controlled and better than ever but alone and finally makes it to the end of the hill Right back were he started. Fucking deep dude, both figuratively and literally, because that hill was fucking massive.
My favorite thing about Rolling Girl parodies is that it shows change, it shows progression as the character tumbles down and changes with every swapping of the animation.
Its cool how in all the parodies it shows the character meeting new people and changing but in the original the girl doesn't meet anyone hence only going deeper into depression

Ok I finally figured out why it makes me sad and happy. The illustrations are adorable and all of the characters are there and happy but we all know the real meaning behind it and we also know why some characters disappeared and 😭😔 it's so frustratingly depressing but cute.
The guy who made this animation loves Tokyo Ghoul and read the manga. It shows. It shocks me how well it conveys the struggle kaneki goes through and how he learns to love himself through interacting with others. Almost makes me tear up.
I've been coming back to this video for 7 years and seeing Kaneki catch Hide and then Touka lifting him up before falling still chokes me up. This manga was really special and this video captures it

Okay. Everyone seems confused as to why they're feeling all the feels about this. I watch this like, 400 times a day, so let me explain. By the way, this will contain spoilers, so ye. Kaneki and Hideyoshi are seen at the beginning. Both are facing opposite directions which could show the way they view each other - while they're best friends, they don't understand some aspects of the other's life. Kaneki seems distracted by something (which could imply how he totally fell in love with Rize as if she was a queen), and then falls. Hideyoshi is quick to turn around when falls, probably because of the fact Hideyoshi was so worried about Kaneki when he 'became a ghoul' (but he hadn't known that yet.) The fall may just look like a piece to go with the music to start the rolling, but it actually means something else. Once he falls, we can see he has one ghoul eye, so him falling probably a way of saying "this is where his life gets bumpy" (no pun intended.) If you look, it doesn't look like he loses his balance one bit, as if he just fell with the intentions of falling. Hideyoshi is quick to turn around when falls, probably because of the fact Hideyoshi was so worried about Kaneki when he 'became a ghoul' (but he hadn't known that yet.) Okay. It's obvious Kaneki isn't that..skilled with rolling. This could imply two things: One, he wasn't very stable when he found out he was a ghoul. This could show his fear and uncertainty of the whole situation. OR, It was unexpected and he didn't think it would ever happen, let alone Rize be a ghoul, so he's just a mess. (Also note that on some frames he seems to skid as if he wants to stop but he can't.) Then Touka comes in. She's balanced and perfect at rolling. Probably because she has more skill than Kaneki, and the fact she knows she's a ghoul and nothing will change that. So then comes Anteiku Kaneki and Touka! They're both perfectly synced and, this time, Kaneki is more stable and calm with the fact he's rolling. They both understand each other a bit more, and Kaneki has come to terms with his ghoul side a bit more (not saying he's totally okay with it, because you can see his worried expression on some frames.) Hinami and Ryouko! This section obviously (and sadly) implies how close they were, as they're both smiling big, but then Ryouko disappears - meaning she died. Hinami continues to jump, but she has tears in her eyes, which may imply the fact she keeps going with life but she'll never be okay. Kaneki with a mask. This is all a story, if you haven't (somehow) realized it yet - Kaneki is shown with his mask for the first time in the series, where he approaches Amon. He seems more sure about this, because he understands how it feels to be a ghoul. He's quite balanced with his rolling now. Touka comes in with her rabbit mask spinning, which hints at her agility in the scene with her killing CCG. On her second spin, it turns into normal Touka and Kaneki again. Although this time, Kaneki is the one with the serious expression, and Touka has a worried look. Nishinoya and his girlfriend are shown jumping, looking at each other, showing their deep love and trust they have in each other, followed by Tsukiyama (hell yeah) jumping with Kaneki. Tsukiyama is staring at Kaneki, and Kaneki is staring at him, but they both obviously have different thoughts on their mind. (What I find interesting about it though is the fact they're still perfectly synced.) WOAH, HERE COMES THE BAD-ASS KANEKI KICK IN THE AIR, EVERYONE HOLD YOUR BALLS BECAUSE HE'S ABOUT TO _BUST SOME_. Basically, it's saying how skilled he is in fighting now that he's had proper training. He spins, and Amon, Kaneki, and Mado are now spinning together. Kaneki being in the middle may imply the fact that he's always in the middle of things involving CCG. Mado disappears, obviously because he died, and now its just Amon and Kaneki rolling. They're perfectly synced btw, which shows how they understand each other but don't even realize it. Amon falls behind, and Kaneki is still rolling. Okay, here's where it gets interesting. Kaneki falls off the cliff and he's RIGHT BACK to the beginning - but not because they're restarting the roll. It's not actually Kaneki, it's his memories. If you recall in the last few episodes where he's kidnapped by Ayato and Jason (etc), when being tortured by Jason he recalls his memories. Him falling off the cliff was a way of saying, "he's falling down deeper, and he can never return." This AWESOME section where he has the power to stop rolling and stand up (with his white hair) shows JUST how strong he is - imagine how hard it is to stop running when going down a hill, imagine ROLLING down a hill for 1 minute (but for him, it was like, i don't know, a few months?) and then just STOPPING and standing up perfectly fine. So now Shironeki (Kaneki with white hair) is rolling, obviously stable. He leaps, and when he does, we see the spirits of Rize and Jason next to him - because he ate them both. If you don't remember, when a ghoul eats a ghoul, they usually gain more power. This is showing that because he ate two VERY STRONG ghouls, he's basically OP. But his face is worried, as if he doesn't want to be leaping. Also, take note he's rolling by himself. So then there's Hideyoshi rolling by himself, with a scared look on his face. But he's rolling perfectly fine, which shows how much he's grown. When he jumps, it's Hideyoshi at the beginning, smiling big, followed by Kaneki doing the same. These are his memories. But then it's Shironeki with Rize, both rolling, but Rize is smiling. This may show how Rize tricked Kaneki, followed by Kaneki being where he is now. Then they go SUPUR SANIC SP33D!1 They spin, and it's Amon and Akira spinning together meaning they trust each other. And yes, I know Kaneki didn't trust Tsukiyama at the beginning, but in the manga they do come to understand each other (even if it's just a little bit). Notice they're all smiling big, as if they all really love each other's presence. (Even Banjou is there! Hella!) Which spins into old Kaneki with his former friends, but they disappear. They're all smiling though, as if they understand Kaneki leaving (even if they all hate it). Kaneki dodges Uta and Itori's tackle, and then he's holding hands with Amon and Akira. Aw. OKAY BUT CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT HOW HIDEYOSHI FALLS INTO KANEKI'S ARMS AND THEY HUG AND HOLD HANDS WHILE SLIDING AWAY FROM EACH OTHER LIKE THEY DON'T WANT TO LEAVE THE OTHER'S PRESENCE Okay a few more things happen which I'm not going to explain b/c self-explanatory. Kaneki and Shironeki hold hands and spin as if they've come to terms with each other, and Shironeki disappears. Then it's just Kaneki rolling by himself. Then he stops, jumps up, and he's standing with all of his friends. (aw look at hinami 2 cute). *TL;DR: This brought out your feels because it explains every little detail in Tokyo Ghoul, with it starting out sad and then ending on a happy note, because that's how it makes you feel at the end, as if you understand all the characters and the characters all understand another.*
I don't know why, but I'm crying. I started bawling when Kaneki met up with Hide and held hands for a short while, and he lets him go gently as he carries on rolling. That was fucking beautiful.

OKAY BUT CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT HOW HIDEYOSHI FALLS INTO KANEKI'S ARMS AND THEY HUG AND HOLD HANDS WHILE SLIDING AWAY FROM EACH OTHER LIKE THEY DON'T WANT TO LEAVE THE OTHER'S PRESENCE
Okay a few more things happen which I'm not going to explain b/c self-explanatory.
Kaneki and Shironeki hold hands and spin as if they've come to terms with each other, and Shironeki disappears. Then it's just Kaneki rolling by himself.
Then he stops, jumps up, and he's standing with all of his friends. (aw look at hinami 2 cute).
*TL;DR: This brought out your feels because it explains every little detail in Tokyo Ghoul, with it starting out sad and then ending on a happy note, because that's how it makes you feel at the end, as if you understand all the characters and the characters all understand another.*
