Can we just appreciate how much prep work they put into this project! She showed up and they had reference photos and multiple concept drawing for a shrimp. I love this company so much!

Wow the algorithm got it right on this one! I'm a plastazote 'technician' in the UK, Weta inspired my whole career. One of the best parts of the job is seeing how excited people get. I think your acting really shone through ;)

I love the sheer randomness of this. And I love even more that everybody takes this so seriously. But what I love the most is that it is actually a great costume that I secretly want now!
I think that was the charm of the whole project. I'm sure Weta deals with so many serious projects on the regular for movies etc that having someone come in with a silly idea for the sake of it was probably really refreshing! :)

I did spend the first minute trying to figure out whether there was a mantis shrimp in Lord of the Rings and I'd just somehow managed to forget about it...
This comment makes me wish that: 1. youtube allowed us to post images in the comments. And 2. that I had the photoshop skills to find an image from LOTR to hide the Business Mantis Shrimp in.
A mantis shrimp would've probably been a better ring bearer than Frodo. I mean, with that supersonic punch no orc could've gotten even near him.
Just came across this video! I can't imagine how much fun this was for you, but your face said it all! The creatives at Weta seem to be so kind, and game for anything. LoTR is my favorite series too, BTW for a lot of the reasons involving the practical effects, the costuming, and the detailed world building that Peter Jackson and Weta did. And also Gandalf.
You radiate so much joy! It's somehow reaching me through the interwebz!

With the related Pistol Shrimp, their attack when they snap their claws does a similar thing - causes a cavitation bubble which in its case reaches temperatures of over 5,000 Kelvin (4,700°C) which isn't far off that of the temperature of the sun which is estimated to be around 5,800 K (5,500 °C).
There's this wonderful bit to quote from the wikipedia article on them:
"When in colonies, the snapping shrimp can interfere with sonar and underwater communication. The shrimp are a major source of noise in the ocean and can interfere with anti-submarine warfare."
All that from something that is only 3 to 5cm (1 3/16 to 2 inches) long!

Ingrid AL no icelandic is based on danish as is norwegian. Swedish is the only language that is stilö based on old norse. Up in the north they still use old norse words and accent

Gary can punch the clock so fast it breaks the sound barrier.
But he keeps knocking the handset into the back of Lisa's head when he tries to answer the phone. HR's has repeatedly talked to him about it. I think they're being speciests about the whole matter.

Surprisingly I love this idea, it worked really well, as most of it you could just use a business suit. The prosthetics were hard so not so difficult to create, then the colors made it fun.
