Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could th-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

Get a little bit of like out with your bait (6incjec to a foot just like a spinner reel). Press the thumb clutch button and put your thumb on the spool. Then just make your cast and release your thumb from the spool at the right time just like you would do with a spinning setup. Just before the bait hits the water you’ll want to put your thumb back on the spool.
It’s a little more complicated than that but that should get you going. Main thing is just going out there and learning from experience

Live down here in Pinellas County, FL...The bass are definitely bedding right now, but with the cold front they are being weird for sure. I went Sunday over to my grandfathers community pond and fished the beds. The fish were sitting like 2-3 feet away from the beds, but were smacking my worm the second I bounced it through the bed.
Yesterday afternoon, uncle and I took his bass boat to Lake Tarpon, same story. With this cold front it is like they want to move into deeper water, but don't want to leave their beds, so they are just sitting a few feet away in some deeper areas.

usually down in South/east florida, whenever theres a extreme cold front thats when you want to go bass and saltwater fishing. I caught a 5 Lb bass then a 3, then a 8LB bass all that same day when it was extremely cold in florida

Yup! Live in Pinellas County, and I feel the same way, just gotta time it right. Been bass fishing past two days, and they are sitting just past their beds in a little deeper water, but they will still commit.
Saltwater, been hitting a few deep holes in the afternoons when I can get out. The Trout/Reds are CHEWING! Just been throwing a white paddletail and a greenback colored mirrodine...Non-stop action last 3 times I've been.

Anyone else having a problem with the KTB baitcaster? I have to have the brake on 10 and the spool some what tight or else it just birds nest like crazy... every other lews speed spool slp etc I have you can run almost no brake and launch the bait deep, any advice or feedback would be great.
