He burns himself out, to get the opponent to change attacks to something he finds predictable, then uses invincible specials (of which Luke has a few) to get through what his opponent thinks is a winning attack. When Punk figures this out, you can see him celebrate at 9:08. Noah is very predictable.

But he probably didn’t combo after that hit because, like mentioned above, he was expecting Noah to do something else, or he didn’t hit confirm his poke.

I think you forgot about all the bs people got away with in that game due to the lack of a buffer. You could mash technically unsafe strings and go unchecked simply because your opponent didn’t know the reversal timing or that it was unsafe at all.
