Well done bakers,i can easily say that Sonar platinum is the most used and most valuable program on my PC.love love love the monthly updates.and the forums are awesome for troubleshooting or getting advice from.some really cool people over there.
In this update you can now comp clips with Region FX. To try this out, if you have a vocal track with a few takes, you can add Melodyne for instance to each take and continue coming with the individual takes. Previously Region FX would not allow the comping tool to cross over the Melodyne sections.
Great idea the finger zooms, only problem is, I pick my nose a lot and then touching the screen will probably attract a lot of flies.Maybe if I put my fly screens back in that will solve the problem.
Hello, I'm a long time user and I use a few other DAWS but I always come back to Sonar for some reason. I was wondering if the new update still comes in 32bit version? I have some projects that were recorded in the 32 bit version. It's seems 32 bit Sonar and 64 bit Sonar are different!
Hi Roland, Thanks for the question. With the latest version you can install as either 64bit or 32bit. Projects that were created in the 32bit version will also load in the 64bit version.
The machine used was a Ryzen 7 1700x at stock speeds, 16GB Kingston Black FuryX 2666 Ram, MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G, MSI 370 Gaming motherboard. According to Scott from Chernobyl Studios "The thing runs Sonar like a BEAST!"
So do you recommend using the new Ryzen Chipsets? I was asking Danny before if you would recommend using the new AMD chipsets to the software and he said it's too early to tell at that stage. So will the multicores of the ryzen be more beneficial than clock speeds? Thanks again!
The memory/motherboard stuff is mostly ironed out and my Ryzen 7 1700x speaks for itself. I get the performance of a 1,000$ Intel CPU for a 3rd of the price. It's amazing with content creation and audio. Grab yourself a few SSDs and Caviar Black hard drives and you'll be good to go. I'm 100% happy with my rig.
CHERNOBYL STUDIOS Thank you. I'm planning to make a new rig soon and the Ryzen has been very appealing. I'm an AMD fan and I only had to shift to team Blue because I needed the speed at the time. Now that AMD is back in the game, I'd gladly go back. Kudos to your Channel, I'm a long time subscriber to your content.
Where do these guys find these "meh" music to put in these videos?! Comes off as the "old" SONAR everybody seems to see it as. Sorry for the negative comment. It's 2017. Create/find more inspiring music for your video content :)
hey there! Yeah sometimes I am not able to write the most amazing stuff, haha. But feel free to drop me a line at scott(at)chernobylstudios.com or leave a comment here with some of your music - it could end up in a video! I certainly am not one to turn down better work. Hell I could probably learn a thing or two anyway :D Cheers dude!
Thanks for the comment Daryl, We tend to try a variety of music content with videos and most of our customers seem to prefer something in the rock genre. What type of musical content would you prefer to hear with our videos? Have you seen any other videos with music that got you inspired or excited to create music?
CHERNOBYL STUDIOS Hey! Why not?! Maybe we CAN do something together! I'll look for your contact information on your website and take it from there. Cheers!
CakewalkSoftware I guess that's true. Can't say that I haven't noticed that a lot of the SONAR folks are influenced by rock and pop music with the guitar being their dominant musical tool. I get that and I may be one of the very few users that use SONAR for more urban contemporary genres. I guess I just expect to hear more current styles of music or whatever music but with a modern twist. Appreciate the reply!
Daryl Samuel As soon as you hear the crap music it puts you off the DAW. The video then feels like its just for old people. No Daw video has crap music like Sonar what are they doing trying to put a nail in their own products. Stupid!!!!

Getting on the hype train, chooo-choooooooo !
I didn't really understand the first part about region effects - but I'm more than happy with the rest.

My bad Justin, I'll work on being more clear in the future with my explainations, thanks for the comment =)
thanks a lot!
Thanks for checking it out!

I see a lot of cores. Is that a Ryzen or an Intel you are using?

That is correct!

Where is the Mac Version
dead
No Mac - no problem :)
They mentioned in a previous blog post that they had to shut it down.
Btw, good to see your video on a Cakewalk channel!
Thank you!
Two users of a DAW that isn't Sonar gave thumbs down. It burns to see these updates doesn't it. :p :)
They are just jelly! :D
