Thanks for an excellent video which got me up and running with my Carlinkit when I was convinced it was working. Turns out my USB cable was dodgy so there was no datalink. As soon as I plugged the box in using a new certified cable the box connected immediately.

Great call on swapping out the cord! Surprised the cord that came with my wireless CarPlay device was the problem but sure enough I tried a different cord and it worked right away!

If my car already has android auto via wifi do I have to disable it in order for one of these dongles to work because when I try to turn it AA off it automatically turns it again?
Yes if your stereo has WiFi built in for that use turn it off to avoid any unwanted connections directly to the stereo

My Carlinkit 5.0 cuts out my music when I shift to park and then my music comes back is that normal?
The Ottocast u2 air pro worked for 5 minutes but would not change the background color on the CarPlay. Then the main screen did not come up after unplugging it and replugging it in. Is that normal? It was lighting up red and blue and then stayed red.

Sounds like a compatibility issue with your nisssan. You can play around with display modes on the CarlinKit IP config screen to see if it works better in each mode, but the air pro doesn’t have the same luxury of changing as much to help with its compatibility. The air pro sounds like it’s struggling more without Nissan system so there are a few display modes in its config area but not as much as on the 5.0
@@CarPlayLife what do you mean by display modes? I have used the ip address to login into the system to download updates.

Could you suggest a better device?
In the config menu there is a section called display mode, usually they offer two to three types of options in this mode. Selecting them and restarting the adapter will make the adapter behave differently and possible fix any compatibility issues the your car system. Another one is delayed start this can also help as some car systems need a little time before they accept a connection and delaying a start up time might help with connection issues or the system not picking up the adapter.
The 5.0 should be able to be configured the best so if thst doesn’t work or can be adjusted to work via its config area then I don’t know what else to suggest. Maybe check some forums or Reddit threads for this issue and learn what other owners have tried.
Hi my carlinkit box connect's to my hotspot but the box has no internet
This is not how it works. You connect via Bluetooth first then it will wish your phone to WiFi to transmit CarPlay wirelessly to the display. You don’t connect to any hotspot to your phone. Any internet will come from your mobile data SIM as normal.
Hello Anthony i got mine today 'CarlinKit TBOX-Plus 4+64GB + Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto Adapter'
my car is golf 7 and supports android auto, each time i try to connect igot the same message on the screen USB 'the device is not supported '..what may be the problem here? and if you think of any solution ..thank you..
The tbox plus uses CarPlay not Android auto to operate. You’ll need to select the CarPlay option on the system screen (although it should auto detect) and also have it plugged into the correct usb port for CarPlay for this system to see it. If you only have Android audio system then this device won’t work.
My ottocast was working but has stopped. It has a red light when plugged in so getting power. Tried a new cable but just doesn’t show on my Bluetooth. Tried 2 phones. Any ideas?
Have you updated it recently? if not, it might have died. if it is within its first year you can contact support to see if they can replace it or offer other advice. if you can't see a BT profile for it, and/or it doesn't show up on your local wifi options, there's little else you can try. It's like it is stuck in a book loop or something.
I have the Tbox Max USB for North America. It was working without issue up until this morning. It is not connecting to the head unit of my Hyundai Santa Cruz. Yesterday it worked fine. Today nothing. I’m getting the message “This device is not supported by the media feature “. I assume the media feature referred to in the message is the media button to the lower right of the display. The media button opens the screen where Carplay and Android Auto reside. Both are greyed out and not available. Wired Carplay works fine. Any idea why the Tbox worked then suddenly doesn't on the next startup?
Nope. Sorry. You could try it with a different cable. Make sure it is a power and data cable. Also try it in a different CarPlay vehicle.

I have the CPC200-Tbox plus 128GB+8GB RAM my head unit uses speedplay to connect.
It works a few times then it won't connect. it is stuck on "connecting" and nothing happens.
Last time I reset it to factory using another car but the problem returned after a few days.
I tried many cables, all of which work with wired android auto on my phone through speedplay.
Your head unit is Android based? If so these adapters don’t like being used this way. It’s really hit and miss.
@@CarPlayLife I think I figured out a pattern. I have another car available, so I plugged it in that one to see if it works. After that plugging it back in mine, it worked for a few days and had the same issue again. I repeated the steps and it works again...
Sounds like something is being configured on the adapter and then it locks you out. Very odd. I’d say it was the car system doing this maybe but as it works a few times first. I can’t quite put my finger on what could be the issue, other than software doing something on the adapter side. Seeing as it’s an AI Box that opens a whole lot of variables going on. What’s the intended purpose of the adapter, to watch video or have it for wireless CP/AA?
@CarPlayLife I wanted to replace the built in system as the navigation isn't working, Bluetooth integration is bad and the music player is abysmal. Instead of hacking the original, as the car is under warranty, I opted for this approach as I can simply unplug the thing and the dealer would be none the wiser.
Help please for the Kia k5 I did everything the Ai box show up on my iPhone Bluetooth but it’s not booting on the CarPlay screen
If you don’t see the Ai box main menu on your CarPlay screen then there is a compatibility issue somewhere with your vehicle or try a different cable.
Hello, what is the sync mode option in carlinkit 5.0
I have this adapter and it disconnects wifi randomly while driving. I'm currently trying to find another 5GHz wifi channel and maybe it will help. But maybe you have other tips on what to do to make the problem go away?
Make sure there’s no other reason for your iPhone to switch WiFi, like it wants to connect to a local WiFi router or anything like that. Make sure it’s not running too hot. Give it space to breathe. Try different cables, clear other Bluetooth profiles, clear dust from usb port. When WiFi drops is the dongle turning off or is it still on but just lost connection? Make sure you’re running latest iOS.
My Volume doesn’t work after connecting it everything else work I just can’t control the Volume I have the loboair product.
That’s odd as volume is direct to the stereo and nothing to do with the adapter
IDK I tried reconnecting and know it works. It could have also been that I had my Bluetooth connected to the truck.
It’s likely that. Increasing the volume on your phone might have worked in that scenario.
I have a 2017 VW Tiguan. And brand new U2air pro. I can’t get them to connect. The light goes red on the device so I know it’s getting power. But for some reason, the car keeps trying to read it like a USB. I have tried both ports. My stereo system in the car is the Volkswagen one that appears to be identical to the one in your video, so I don’t know why it’s not working. Then tried it in my friends car. It works perfectly. Please help 🙏
Your 2017 car system has wired CarPlay? If not it needs that. It can’t run without wired CarPlay.
Hi Anthony, yeah it has it & works completely as it should when I use the cable. is there a way to reboot (not just turn off and on) the VW entertainment system? I feel like its not recognising the Otto as apple car play instead of a USB stick. & I know the Otto is fine coz it works in my mates car. Strange. Also worth a factory reset on the Otto? How I do that? Lot of questions :D
UPDATE - I did a factory reset on the VW stereo system and now it works.
Awesome. Glad it’s working. For future ref. To reboot the stereo you hold down power button on the side for 3-5 seconds. My system does a little pop sound which lets me know it’s rebooted and I can let go of the button. The system reboots then. Idea when an adapter throws a wobbly whilst driving and I can’t pull over.
I have the same VW media device as in de the video with an Ottocast U2AIR PRO. It worked for a few times but most of the time the Discover Pro cannot connect to the Ottocast. Connection canceled it said. I can't connect via WIFI to the Ottocast. Wifi won't connect. What to do?
Are you on 17.1.2? If so try 17.2.1 update. If you’re on that already then it might be these updates making all these adapters a bit more unstable on connection.
@@CarPlayLife I’m on 17.2.1. Now updating to 17.3 and I just updated the U2AIR pro via WiFi.
It seems that even if the WiFi connection has still a turning circle you are able to connect via the IP.
I will have a try tomorrow again if this does the trick.
My adapter connects good but as soon as a video plays after 30 seconds it cuts off or acts as if it is loading what can be the issue?
I assume You’re playing video on your phone because this adapter doesn’t do video
Mine is the same. When my adapter connects to my phone via a hot spot all is good. When I load up TH-cam on the car for the kids to watch it, the video stops after 30 seconds and just loads and loads.

Hi Anthony - am having an issue with my OttoCast U2 Air Pro and I can't get any help from customer service. I am hoping you might have some ideas. I have a Mercedes Benz GLC 300 with a dedicated USB C for Apple Play. I have used the supplied cable and the unit works fine. I have purchase 8 different high end cables because I want to replace the supplied cable with a shorter cable (6 inches). None of the cables will power up the OttoCast. When I go back to the original supplied cable, no problem. Any ideas what might be going on? makes me rather nervious if anything does happen to the original cable I will not be able to use my unit. Thank you for any assistance/
Hi. It’s probably likely that the pin order of their cable is different to others you can buy freely. More importantly is the power pin in the connector is different.
Being USB-C at either end have you tried swapping the ends over and also rotating them. So that’s a lot of combinations to try but if it’s a power pin issue they might have the pin on the adapter side (not car side) totally different so it only works with their type of cable with the right pin order.
I also think you could try an OTG usb cable to see if that behaves any differently. It’s an odd one for sure. Usually it should just work as USB C is made to be universal. I know some cables you can buy only allows charge but in the case of these adapters you need them to send data also. Short cables you buy might only handle charging but not data. You need both.

Anthony, I have purchased 3 new usbc data / power cables and they don’t work. Obviously the manufacturer must have switched the pin order on their cable and adapt. I can’t recommend OTTOCAST because of this issue. Thanks again for suggestions.
Oh that’s sad to hear. Sorry you couldn’t find one. It’s so odd they made it work with only their own cable. I swap cables from many brands around, sometimes I don’t use the only it came with and they still work. So strange.
I have now tried 10 different cables. The last 3 specifically data cables and none of them work. Customer Service is very slow and poor. They asked for photos. I told them there was no need for photos because it doesn’t show anything. Then they say they can’t find my order. I had to send them the screenshot of my Amazon order. VERY VERY poor customer service.
My carlink only connect one time after reset to factory settings, one I left the car and get into again it's trying to connect but the led is blue but never got green again, what can I do?
Go to WiFi settings and see if the network is there. Tap to connect to it manually and use password 12345678 or 88888888 if asked.
@@CarPlayLifeI notice that when my iPhone recognises the device automatically turns off the WiFi and if I try to turn it on it says something like "Carplay will be deactivated"

Do you have the same issue when running wired CarPlay? If so the issue is with the system and not the adapter. Otherwise check up config menu and change microphone gain if it has that option
My Carlinkit adapter connects correctly, but when music is playing and I receive a call or make a call myself, after the call ends, the music switches to what seems like mono mode. It feels like half of the speakers have stopped working. I don't know what could be the cause. Can You help me?
Sounds like it’s staying in BT calling mode where it can sound pretty awful.
What CarlinKit adapter and music app are you using. Also are you using iPhone or Android with this adapter?

If my car have only AA, will carplay work with Carlinkit dongle??
No you will need a specific dongle that works for AA only systems and it will only work for AA. I don’t know of an AA dongle that converts to CarPlay. If you are using an Android the CarlinKit 5.0 will do wireless AA for an Android mobile connection.
I have vw golf 2023 and i cannot use thw carplay kit. It cannot connect the my car. Saying error. Can u hep me?
What adapter brand are you using? If you get an error as like in this video the issue is with the dongle, not the car system.
My adapter keeps getting stuck on the “iPhone is connecting screen” but it never connects. I have tried deleting all devices and adding them back, same problem persist. Any solutions?
Check WiFi is running and you’re not connected to another device or BT on the car system or another nearby device is already connect to it.
I got an ottocast 3 that just came out and everything is working but the volume playing at max is playing very low compared when to plugged in. What setting could be causing this? Really annoying because everything else about it is working perfectly
So I figured it out .
Connected to car play and then you have to go back to playback settings and use the cars regular Bluetooth audio
That sounds odd and could be something similar to something I found when I was reviewing the p3 last week.
Basically all the audio was fine until I unplugged the HDMI cable when I was showing that in my upcoming video. As soon as I did that the audio sounded like it switched to the BT audio channel. Since then I’ve not been able to go back when playing back CarPlay audio. Playback of Android apps and games still uses the normal audio channel, yet audio from CarPlay is now fixed on BT audio channel, which is really bad that I can’t undo this now, even with restarts. It could be there is a bug and that you too are stuck on BT audio channel which is usually a poor quality, have you noticed this? It will lack heavily in bass, and sound quite tinny.
@@CarPlayLife I think I know the answer haha. It’s really stupid actually .Took me a few hours of messing around , but go to the main homepage of the ottocast where they have their custom Ui.
Then press your steering wheel button and ask “ Hey Google, set audio to max volume. “
Instantly it was fixed and I didn’t have to connect to the cars built in infotainment Bluetooth system. What blows my mind is I couldn’t find regular audio settings on the settings icon,
I had to ask Google 😂
Also in iPhone settings I turned off Sound Check.
