- As the world witnessed the Barbaric act of China, acting like ravening pirates, after the Chinese Coast Guard launched a brutal assault on the Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel aboard a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat. Aggressively ramming it, and brandishing bladed and pointed weapons, explicitly threatening to harm Filipino troops. Chinese coast guard armed with bolo, spear, and knives, boarded a small patrol ship and destroyed and looted weapons and equipment.
The world is now waiting what will be the response of the United States, testing its iron clod commitment to the Philippines. Few hours after the reported latest incident in West Philippine Sea, United States Ambassador to the Philippines, Marykay Carlson, posted on X on board the USS Blue Ridge, the US 7th Fleet's flagship, with 7th Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Fred Kacher, on ways to advance the United States Philippines shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
A day after the incident, USS Blue Ridge Arrives in Manila. The U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge arrived in Manila and embarked 7th Fleet staff on June 18, one day after the latest encounter in West Philippines for the ship’s first port visit to the Philippines for special mission, since 2016.
The Blue Ridge and 7th Fleet team have longstanding ties with the Philippines and this port visit offers opportunities to reconnect after several years away. The crew will continue the tradition of participating in community service and cultural exchange events ashore, including multiple 7th Fleet band engagements and community relations events.
Blue Ridge commanding officer Capt. Eric Anduze will meet with Philippine Navy officials and distinguished visitors for a tour of the flagship to explain the ship’s mission and goals.

What we want was a standby US navy vessel to assist our PCG anytime on our resupply mission and not a pro-active action by the US. To arrived at the scene when its already peaceful. We are tired listening those "ironclad commitment" to no avail. Until now, not single opportunity that the US never assist nor help us on the resupply mission as every operation the CGG's were on standby mode to blocked and harassed the PCG mission with no US ally in the area.
I think the navy will be refereshed again in hand to hand combat that our soldiers were not easily be outsmarted by CCG soldiers. I think they have no time to execute it anymore or din't have no talents at all. Its important that they'd be prepared at all times in case of emergencies.

The US will never meddle in sovereignty issues so we cannot rely on them to help the Philippines in its territorial dispute with China despite the ironclad double talk. We can only rely on ourselves to bring our case with the UN even though China has veto powers. Diplomacy is still better than waging a war we cannot win at this point in time. Military strengthening, modernization recruitment and training of more able bodied citizens as well as prepping our civilian population in any eventuality though should be funded and hastened.

I have a solution:
Let's do this, the Philippines should have a plebiscite and the U.S. push the issue in the U.S. Congress. Both countries have to work to deal with their respective government.
The U.S. and the Philippines have had a treaty since I was born. Why do we need to fool around, and why not put the Philippines in the protectorate of the United States? Same as Guam, the Mariana Islands, Wake Island, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands "without joining the Union of the United States".
THIS IS HOW THE UNITED STATES CAN LEGALLY AND USE THE TREATY ULTIMATELY.
IF this happens, China knows it's the jurisdiction of the United States to protect and defend the Philippines.
Why do we need to play games? renewing and adding more EDCA sites? It is darn the same thing! By being under the protection, the Philippines and the U.S. can use the Treaty effectively and ultimately.

The ECS claim is likely to strengthen Philippine claims to Scarborough shoal. That said, it would be better for both Vietnam and the Philippines to jointly file the claim like Vietnam did with Indonesia.
