    Here is a few fun facts, the R had basic LX interior, SVO rear lights and 107 were made not 303. The rims on the R show up on later GT’s. Sweet car and a classic fox body.

      The front wheels and brakes were also put on outside of the factory, they were shipped with regular 4 lug pony wheels on the front, and 5 lug swapped off site.

      Last 4 had smog because Ford was sued . 103 was produced and they had more orders than cars. They made 4 more to make 107. Last 4 went to California.

    Just a great Video by You & Lori, does that bring back to my 2 Foxbodies I had, a 85 GT and a Dark blue 92 5.0 LX , these cars
    are just so special, the Corba R is a very Sweet ride. Thanks to you both for sharing!

    It was either last year or year before a 93 Cobra R sold for 110k at auction!! The wheels used on the 93 R (which is 5 lug) are actually used on the 94/95 GT. Alot of people think all 93 cobras were 5 lug, but only the R was. The cobra R and the 84-86 SVO are the only factory 5 lug foxbody mustang, And the SVO, 93 cobra and 93 cobra R were also the fox mustangs that came with rear disc brakes. Great video!! Im enjoying all the videos from that show!

    Only made 107 of the R's and not 303. The car also had 5 lug set up over the standard 4 lug even on the regular Cobra. Additionally it was the first Mustang to have 13" Front Rotors and 10.5" Rears that would eventually make it on streamline cars in later years.

    Cool video and car! Last and best of the fox bodies. Much cleaner looking than the GT. always thought the tail light louvers looked cheesy. Had one of my coolest drives in an 87 GT convertible. Rented it in Orlando and drove it down to the Keys. Funny how small these look now compared to a modern mustang.

    Great review and awesome camera work. Thank you. I may be in the minority here but the fox body is my least favorite mustang. Ok, please don't beat me up, but I love performance, and although that was good for the time period it just doesn't excite me. And to think of where we're at today. Amazing!

    Those wheels would be used later on the Mustang GT in 1994 only in more of a silver finish. Also th R was only available in that red color while the regular Cobras were also available in black and Teal. Also, they didn't make 303 of the R's. I am pretty sure they only made somewhere around 107 or so. It's too bad Ford didn't actually add any performance over the regular Cobra. A cool car. Thanks for reviewing it.

    Back in 1993 those were considered to be low profile tires! And at 17" the wheels were thought to be huge.
    I will say this, at 235 hp yes the Cobra R was fast but it wasn't exactly mind-blowing because Chevy and Pontiac already offered that much power and even a little bit more in the Camaro and Firebird that anyone could buy, and that came with radio, AC, back seat, etc. But still, the Cobra R of 1993 was awesome.

    Is the white Mustang a 1995 Cobra R? Please review it next! Those had a 351 Windsor that made over 300 horsepower if I recall correctly.

  • @porscheguy09
    @porscheguy09 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think they only made 107 Cobra R’s and 4993 of the regular Cobras in 1993 for a total of 5100 cars. The 1995 Mustang Cobra R had a 300 horsepower 351 cu inch V8 and only 250 were built available only in white. The 2000 Mustang Cobra R had the 5.4 liter V8 with 385 horsepower and 385 lbs ft of torque and was only available in red with only 300 cars produced. The 1993 Foxbody Cobra R may not have been very powerful but with only 107 cars produced it’s the rarest of the Cobra R models built.

    another reason Ford did this limited run of R's was for entry into the SCCA world challenge races to go against the just released Camaro LT1 which would of walked a reg GT around the track.

      I read a comment some years back that the 1987 Mustang GT was almost as fast in stock form as these 1993 Cobra Rs were. It was said that Ford "secretly" tweaked the H.O. 5.0 liter engine in ways that lowered output incrementally from 1988 through 1992, such as the updated mass airflow sensor, such that the horsepower decreased from 225 in 1987 down to 205 by 1993.

    Love seeing box stuff. The greatest part about them was the torque for the weight. Yeah that cobra was only 235hp but even the 5.0 mustang 88-91 were 225hp but they also made 300lbft of torque which for a car that weighs 3000lbs or less if you strip certain stuff out. They felt like little monsters with LEGO like ability to build and work on yourself. Get out there and drive a beefed up fox body with the factory motor and it would outrun modern supercars any day. And you were able to do that in the 90s cam head 331 stroker kit and a vortech supercharger I remember guys running 8sec 1/4 miles. Mine I only ran 12s with bold ones but that’s fast even compared to today’s standards. That’s c8 times
