Great Interview Dennis. Chris is such a class act, I really wish he had a podcast of his own as he has been around forever just think being a teenager and going to a muscle camp and working with Lee Haney is his absolute prime then moving to California as just a kid a working with everyone from the Wieders, dam near every top bodybuilder in the World, step by step working with a then unknown Jay Cutler, etc etc. Really amazing life as well as being a succesful property owner and from all that I have read superstar Dad and all around nice person. Maybe bring him back on regularly and due some more shows???

In regard to the question of open division conditioning “now vs then”, one thing that is clear is that the 212 division has to make a weight and in the open you don’t. I’ve heard it said more than once the 212 guys are always peeled. It would make sense that in the 212 they are basically forced to diet as hard as possible just to make the weight in most cases. The open guys in today’s age are at minimum subconsciously playing the size game so it is effecting the end result in condition. Both divisions are bodybuilding so everything else they’re doing should be apples to apples.

I think the condition problem is because the bodybuilders in todays era are a lot bigger and it's more difficult to define that bigger muscle. It takes a lot more suffering (if you wish to call it like that) to get that sharp condition of a bigger muscle than a smaller muscle.

the conditioning debate I think a really big point to be considered is how big the guys are these days. The classic physqiue guys are coming in absolutely peeled now adays, are they ALL out working all the open guys.... no not at all. I think at some point when you get so big condition just doesn't show the same, there is a sweet spot in terms of max size, once you go past it, your condition starts to go even if you were exactly teh same percent body fat.

Chris is right. These new crop of guys will be waiting a little. The Ian's and are great but a little overconfident. They keep calling these guys old. Ramy is still in his 30s and will keep getting better. Brandonat 39 keeps improving. Hadi is 35 and has tons to improve. These guys still have to wait. Most bb hit their stride late into their 30s.

I love the 90s yet you are wrong. Guys are super conditioned and way bigger nowadays. Back in the 90s yes the top 6 was in great condition but there were lots of competitors that were off often. Now guys are 30 to 40 pounds heavier and have striated glutes. The difference is that back then guys were lighter which was good for their shape.

    • @pantelisdermitzakis

Also guys had the luxury to train while being paid from contracts while now you have to be active on social media all the time in order to get money.

Dennis Dennis Dennis you had a physique that was utterly insane and extremely remarkable and elite…. But your recent comments and interpretation of the Enhanced contract and there ideology was very narcissistic and in fact ignorant…. Best of luck to you because your career itself deserves it but you should really analyze your thoughts and mental much better IMO your still the man tho just didn’t agree with that entire situation ✌️❤️🙏💪

This was great until it turned into another episode of bashing current bodybuilders and comparing them to the 90's guys. EVERY bodybuilder trains different, takes different amounts of supps, eats differently, etc. Stop generalizing bodybuilder into groups and making it seem like everyone in that era did the same thing. Makes no sense.
