NICE JOB‼️ Most people who don't like pocket doors are because they or someone else did a lousy Job installing then. I have 3 in my house and they are as good as the day they were installed. QUALITY DOORS ARE A MUST‼️👍👍. Vinny 🇺🇸

Keep it up..... I appreciate the step by step. I put in a pocket door once and didn’t have it completely level. Depending on the time of year and the expansion/contraction we would hear the door shut on its own and my wife would curse me for not hiring it out. Keep up the good work and the commentary.

Your videos are so helpful! Thanks for documenting everything for me 😎 As for hanging things (pictures, towel ring/hook, clock, etc.) on pocket door walls once the room is finished, my brother adds a sheet of plywood under or instead of drywall to add strength and eliminate using drywall anchors.

Well done. I believe the pocket door is a wholly under-utilised door. They can be done with these units here, or made into very stylish large units that are traditional in very old English mansions. When I build my house, I’m going to make some large ones for most of my doors.

Thank you so much for your videos and construction expertise. We love watching your content and look forward to each and every one you post.
My family has been in the building business for over 70 years in Colorado. We have pocket doors in the house that my father built for our family when we were children. I recently replaced one of them because it was just too old and the track was damaged.
When I took it apart I discovered that my father had placed a sheet of 1/2 plywood over the entire face of that pocket door wall, on both sides. The 2x6 header was built a little differently but has the same effect.
I remember working in construction on his many building sites when I was a teenager. Every pocket door wall we installed were all covered with that half-inch plywood. It's funny, I never really thought about it much, not until I was faced with it again after all those years. That half inch of plywood really strengthens up and quiets the system.
It doesn't look like you have much space to cover along those walls but you might take a bit of advice, from an older guy who was taught by an even older one that I miss everyday. Cover that wall system with sheets of half inch ply. You'll come to appreciate it as the years go by.

Very informative -- thanks for sharing your process! How do you factor your finished floor into this install sequence? As it is, since the pocket door frame is installed on the subfloor, how would you carry the finished floor into the pocket such that you don't have a visual break between the two levels of flooring (subfloor and finished floor)?
