About this game:
Assemble your party. Answer the call. Win the war. Build a deck and fight a series of turn-based combats with up to 6 party characters through the city of Dawn's Point. Each character can unlock a set of unique cards and abilities that can augment your deck in powerful, exciting ways.

Very fond memories that Redwall reference brought up. Some of the first fantasy I ever read, I'd think. Rest in peace, Brian Jacques.
Read/bought them all up through Triss before I decided I outgrew the series. Great stories!

He was a huge part of my childhood, I had the redwall series on audiobook and managed to meet him when I was a kid and get a book signed. He was my Tolkien. RIP Jacques

For just having started in Early Access this games seems really good already.
Ah, of course, the next logical step for deckbuilders: The encounters are now also drawn from a deck of cards.
Some day we’ll have a game where enemies have preset decks (probably very small ones) and limited energy of their own, as well as some stat to represent their draw per turn. The possibilities are limitless applying this mechanic to even Slay The Spire enemies, as it opens you up for a curse that adds a shiv to enemy hands or something.
Night of the Full Moon does both of these. And Dicey Dungeons also does enemy decks.

that sounds like a fun project, but balancing Josh will be pretty hard
@@No_Plays_Hand_Empty yea and it has a random chance to be your champ/character, a draftable card, a regular enemy or the boss at the end.
@@iGXBSTER Josh would need to have very simple mechanics but explained in such a way that they seem outrageously complicated.
The game seems good but I think it would be improved by a selection of sumo-wrestling crabs fighting to the death in mortal crustacean combat.

I was gonna suggest this when I found it a couple days ago. Seems you're well-aware of all new developments in the deck-builder genre. Pogged as HECK.
No hitpoints on his two units. Chooses not to heal twice. Chooses not to hire a new party member.
Enters elite combat. STILL WINS.
It's like he has absorbed the very essence of roguelite deckbuilder games into his eggshell and can no longer be defeated no matter what.
Or, alternatively, has fully channeled the "never rest" mentality of Slay the Spire

I’ve heard there isn’t much “end game” such as ascension/covenant ranks. That’s off putting to me, as I LOVE those aspects of StS and Monster Train. Do you still think there’s a lot of replayability?
@@mcmiscellaneous4706 I've ran a couple runs with a couple parties and the game is definitely on the easier side with no ascension/covenant esque gameplay. Being that it's still in early access I'm hoping for those kinds of additions because the core gameplay is excellent. Maybe wait on it til it's on sale or gets patched.

NL, you GOTTA try the new Slay the Spire mod called Downfall!!! Basically it's slay the Spire but you play as the Spire bosses and fight the slay the Spire characters as the bosses! It's completely written with new mechanics, events, etc. basically it's the same slay the Spire but new again you gotta check it out at least personally!
Didn't Gordian Quest do something similar? With units in rows etc. It was a more story structured game, though.
Man, I always tried reading Redwall as a kid, but I was dumb as a truck and had the attention span of a fish.

liked it, bought it, every combat feels like a drag, don't like it anymore, I also seem to have a curse in which I'm stuck with either 1-2 characters max, if I get a 3rd one, I lose another one next battle, and if I'm doing great then I can't afford new ones! game needs better scaling on cards, and more event to hire new units, it's not fun having to slog through this game with only 1-2 units.
