HDFC Bank, which has held on for over two decades to a 4.2-4.3% margins and 18-20% earnings growth and hence a 4x price-to-book ratio, has seen all these ratios come off after the HDFC Bank-HDFC merger. In the latest results, the key disappointment came from the margins, which were flat at 3.4%. What are biggest challenges the bank faces to get back the old ratios? The biggest challenge is to reduce the weightage in nifty, finnifty. if NSE reduces the weightage in nifty, finnifty, sensex, the downfall will be arrested

people invested in nifty etf is missing out on broader rally. so if passive investor investing in nifty etf who comprises of majority of flows is forcefully investing in 40% financial which is reducing flow into broader index creating frustation among the big investor. once NSE reduces weightage of financial to reasonable 20%, fall will be arrested on its own
