Half of the stuff you say at the start was there in monster hunter freedom 2.

Great video! I've been thinking about going back and picking up the 3DS version of MH3U and this helped me make up my mind and grab it

As a veteran of every US release of MH i have to say I actually liked fighting in water. The feeling of helplessness againt a monster now in his natural environment is amazing and ooo the satisfaction when you beat him. For those of you who only fought lagiacrus in 4U you are missing 80% of the stuff that made him so awesome. Fighting him on land is a joke compared to in the water and hes only in 4U because how awesome his fight was in Tri. You talk about tying all the maps and world together and being able to chase that monster wherever he goes is sweet. Maybe im blowing smoke but any game that removes a feature that makes its world more imersive is going backwards. And if you think I hate MH now I got 230 hours in World. MH for life :)

Honestly both the Lance are more fun to use under water you don't have mobility underwater anyways so u might as well use the two weapons with a reliable shield

Gotta love that Brave Heart ost from Rogue Galaxy as the intro :)

After plays World as my Introduction, I tried playing 3U on Wii U and found the Light Bowgun just not the same when it comes to aiming. It's not as modern in terms of moving the camera while aiming.

Did he just say that 3U has the better, easier to read texts? Cause every copy of 3U I've played on every 3ds has that "fog" or blurriness to it. Makes reading texts harder and underwater hunts (especially in the Flooded Forest) much more difficult than it should be...

Now I am watching all of your monster hunter videos...
I hope you do Monster Hunter: World for your next review! As someone who played the original Monster Hunter, and then Monster Hunter 4 U on the 3DS, world is such a fantastic step in the right direction to make the game more accessible for people.

Monster Hunter Tri can allow you to play the game using the Wii's Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro. Motion Controls are completely optional for Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii.

I remember having bought it for the wii when I was in my teens, but was overwhelmed by it and sold it. I regret that since I’ve been enjoying getting into MH4U for the past few months on my 3ds, and I still have my wii lying around. Was MH3 on the wii a bad MH game due to motion controls?

  • @ZuoKalp

I loved Tri back then in the Wii, but the only thing that I bothers me is that damned font that they kept from the original. I couldn't read it clearly in the Wii and in the 3ds screen it doesn't gets better. My only solution would be to play on the Wii-U, and it seems that I will not touch that thing anytime soon.

I've only ever played Monster Hunter 1 back when I was a kid on the PSP.
I'm looking to get into monster Hunter again and buy a Nintendo 3ds. This game seems to be the closest resemblance to the first game, just with better graphics, camera and controls etc.
I don't like the looks of the graphics for MH4u so would you recommend this game for someone like me, with the points I made before?
Or should I just play the new MH games of today, forgetting these games, possibly missing out?
Thank you if you read this 👍

This is $6.00 on sale in the eShop right now for the 3DS, wonder if it's worth it?

      Absolutely worth it

      @TANKTREAD 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for the reply, I do appreciate it, however the $6.00 sale is no longer available on the eShop. I actually thought about it, since I own "Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate" I really don't play it as much(WANTED to really enjoy the game too), I don't think I have a desire for "3 Ultimate" or even "Generations". It's a real shame, cause the premise of these "Monster Hunter" games are really cool. Thanks again.

Lol, the only new things in MH3U (3rd gen) vs MHFU (2nd gen, PSP) are blights, underwater combat (removed in later games, thank fuck) and the switch axe. The rest of the "amazing new things" you mentioned were there from the PSP days - the separated weapon types, the farm, gathering (later renamed to harvest) quests, village points alongside zenny, quality of life improvements (can have stuff boxed for upgrades by the blacksmith), camera controls and combat mechanics, armor skills, felyne kitchen, monster theme songs (Daora theme FTW!), etc.
Notes - G rank is totally doable solo, as it has always been even on the much harder Freedom Unite - it just takes a bit more prep, skill and time. Your gameplay needs improvement too - surprised you didn't know about the panic dive (superman dive? lol) and you didn't seem to demonize the monsters using your dual swords (press the X and A together while in demon mode), which is the bread and butter of dual swords. Some guide-reading seems to be in order :)
MHFU was the baller, though. You think MH3U is hard and doesn't tell you things? It's heaven, in comparison :D
Which reminds me - the new games, starting with 3U, then 4U, then Generations, start off with a LOT of hand-holding. I still remember how hard the first Giadrome was in Freedom2/Freedom Unite with those shitty starter weapons and armor vs how easy the monsters are the whole time in the village quests on the new games. Suppose it lets more people enjoy the game - and I'm all for it - more people playing means more games coming out in the west, but veteran players have to go grind all the way to late high-rank, G-rank or deviants (MH Gen) to start feeling some challenge. You just see constant carting in online hubs as a result of the much lower entry bar...
Anywho, try the older games :)

I think you're underselling 3rd generation a bit here. It still added a lot of content such as charms for further skill customization, an entirely new roster of monsters and locations with very little reused content (as opposed to all the games until Unite which just built on top of each other, not that it's a bad thing, but some change was definitely needed), free hunting, and reduced the jankiness by quite a bit with smoother monster animation and tweaked or downright reworked (in the case of Hunting Horn and Gunlance) movesets for all the weapons. 3U in particular finally added lock-on to the series which makes it a lot less clunky to play.

Yes, it runs quite smooth on all Mobile devices. Android, iPhone and your last potato.
Also HunsterVerse exists which makes finding online people to play with really easy. So, no BS about how hard it is to find people to play multiplayer with due to the game being old.
