    Best Battery life of any phone I've ever had, and I've changed nothing from stock - even the 2mins Screen Timeout (which I've now changed to 1min)
    Must say my nearly 4yr Old Note 3 was having battery issues (understandably given its age) so I had to carry Power Bricks everywhere, no such thing with the Note 8 and I use this phone a hell of a lot more more than the Note 3.
    Must say though there are some great tips Saki, especially the ability to literally put the phone into a safe mode if its about to die to get hours back when it would have run out in minutes.
    Keep up the good work.

    The power saving mode most people will use is the "mid" level, which tries to strike a balance between saving power and letting your phone do everything you need. When you tap "mid" you'll see what it does - decrease brightness, lower the screen resolution, limit CPU performance and disable both background network usage and the Always On Display. It'll add multiple hours to your battery life over the course of the day, but you probably wouldn't want to use this all the time.

      I respectfully disagree as it actually makes sense to have the display set at a lower resolution for simple web browsing or word processing like sending text, emails, or writing quick documents or notes. When you edit photos, play games, watch videos, or are simply looking up some new wallpapers then switch it on full blast. Either way, it's about options and the ability to extend that battery life if you feel the need. Yes it's nice having a sporty car, but there is no sense (to me) in hitting the NOS button all the time just because the car has one. To each his own. Let's just enjoy our Note 8s

    Hey Saki I love your videos bro but I wanted to make a correction about something you said in this video. You said that Samsung pay won't work without NFC being turned, that's not true. Samsung pay on the newer Samsung devices works with magnetic stripe card readers, without NFC being turned on because Samsung has placed a magnetic chip in the phone to take the place of your credit card. However in the case of some terminals where that doesn't work and the terminal uses NFC exclusively then you have to turn NFC on. I have been using Samsung pay for some time now on the the note 8 and I've only had to turn on NFC once out of almost 75 uses. Cheers buddy, keep up the great informative videos

      Troy V that's a negative my friend. When the NFC antenna is off it's off plain and simple. When you are at a pay terminal that doesn't support, how could you use NFC? That's why Samsung embedded Magnetic Secure Transmission strip in its latest phones that turns on a emits a magnetic field that mimics the magnetic strip on the back of your card. Once you hold your phone close to the terminal this field interacts with the card swiper part of the terminal and it recognizes the field as your card. Here are a couple of links to read up on it. www.cnet.com/news/samsung-pay-what-you-need-to-know-faq/ and th-cam.com/video/VyYeB7qQSew/w-d-xo.html

      Actually I think NFC is turned ON automatically even if you have it turned off in the settings when using samsung pay. I have NFC turned off but when I use samsung pay I see the NFC icon in the status bar then it turns off when you are done transmitting,

    Great battery saving tips video for the Galaxy Note 8. In addition to what was mentioned in the video, there are few more battery saving tips. These will work on the Note 8, other Android phones and the iPhones. These would be to delete old emails, delete old text messages, delete old voicemails, open up the phone icon to delete the phone call log history, tap on the recent apps button to close apps by hitting "Close All". Next tip would be while in settings scroll all the way down to select "Developer Options" to adjust the screen animation. Finally, another battery saving tip would be to turn off your phone at least once a week for few minutes to an hour and turn it back on. These phones are mini computers and they need a time out period just like their bigger laptop and desktop counterparts.

    • @gsp3987
      @gsp3987 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's no such thing as a computer needing a "timeout." Though, a reset is needed from time to time. Aside from that, dusting a computer is all that is necessary. Phones only need a reset, but do not need to be kept off. The only reason to keep your phone off, is during a battery cycle refresh. In which you let your phone die, then you place it on the charger while turned off, until fully charged. Then, you simply use it as normal.

    Hi Sakitech,
    Got Note8 for about a week ago, loving all about it. Little concern is of Battery, Draining even when AOD, Wifi, Bluetooth, Background Apps off. Loosing 4 to 5% in 45 mins to 1 hour time period sitting Idle. IT THAT OK?

      @samwill4442 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah

    • @gsp3987
      @gsp3987 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, that's not ok. The battery drain should be about 1-2% per hour. I'm guessing you have an app that runs in the background. Try disabling background processes or get rid of the app that keeps draining your battery. Also, add an extra 1% battery drain per hour with AOD on (if you have AOD on all the time, you've basically have reduced the entire lifetime of your batter by 24%).

      Iirc, smartphones have a battery sensor nowadays that adjusts according to average phone usage and will attempt to predict the next full battery cycle by using the previous cycles' data.
      So, while it might have something to do with battery degradation, it also has to do with how that individual person uses their phone.
      We understand that a 'power user' will get a lot less hours from a full charge than an average user. The phone will try and predict the same with the data it's given.
      It basically goes, 'Well, during the last few full battery cycles, with the apps this person used, we got about 11 hours of juice before we died out. That probably means this time around, we might get around 11 hours again. So if they ask, we'll tell them we have 11 hours left.' 😊

    The first tip is not smart if you read slow.... The screen timeout triggers making me have to touch my screen to make it wake up. That is annoying so I leave it high and just press the button when I walk away.
    Resolution settings..... I get much better battery performance on the lowest setting and find it looks fine for my daily uses
    I have used the Emergency mode and the battery life is absolutely amazing!
    I have wondered if the always on display would cause screen burn in......

    • @onelyone6976

    I was told that the always on display uses hardly any battery. That's why i keep it enabled as i like to see what missed calls/ text messages i have, if i turn this off, i won't see any missed notifications unless, i install an app called pop up notifications which is very helpful as i like a bar in the middle of my screen for when i receive texts which, i can then swipe to the right to get into my messages. I have turned this feature off for messages at the moment as i like to pull my notifications down from the middle of my screen and can still open them. i have the note 8 and small hands, but use the phone with both hands anyway. I find the always on display specially at night useful so i can see the time so, it might be useful for some people but not myself. i like to see what notifications i may have missed, very good invention on the note 8 and S8 and S8 plus, most handsets now in fact. I just cannot do without it. I enjoyed your video though, thanks very much. I also have the edge lighting enabled as it sets a nice light around the edge panel, if i turn this off, i am not sure if i would still get my notifications pop up on the always on display. only had the phone about maybe a month and still trying to find my way around it so, any advice would be welcomed, thanks. :)

    • @gsp3987
      @gsp3987 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      AOD drains about 1% per hour. That cuts the lifespan of the battery by up to 24%, if you have it on all the time. Having the AOD turned on during part of the day or not at all, is a good idea. Of course, if you really need to have it on, then just keep it on.

    Although this has some useful tips, most of them are not so practical and just nerfing an incredible device.
    If you want to do this type of thing buy another smartphone. Its like buying a Sports car and nerfing it to an old common used car, there is no point to this. Youbwant to use what you have and have when needed the saving modes that are realistic to day to day life without nerfing a fabulous smartphone

    I just bought this phone yesterday and the battery kinda drain faster (maybe because I downloaded apps non-stop) than my old j7 2016 phone. Hahaha. But the fast charging is what makes it better than my old phone.

    I appreciate the video but there's no way I'm doing all of these things to increase battery life. I paid a lot of money for this device and I'm running everything at max. I get great battery life on my note 8. 18hrs of battery use and 6 and a half hours of on screen time. I'm a heavy user. You get also get a battery case or just plug your phone up with your fast charger or use a portable charger

      gamuel slen No you should not fix it bec its not brokrn. your phone learns how much you use your phone every day. So it makes an assumption of for how much time your phone will stay on battery if you continue the same way today
      .. to sum it up..
      These numbers are useless ignore them. No thing wrong with your phone or battery.

    If you use and set up Greenify and BK disabler correctly you can have better more consistent battery life. You don't even have to root the phone you just have to enable USB debug and set up the quick adb on your PC.

    Here's the best battery saving tip of all, just use your phone five minutes today. Of course I'm joking, but it illustrates my point that I choose not to stress over battery life and to enjoy all of the features of this phone. That's one of the reasons why it's important to me to have fast charging and to have wireless charging , because with those, I don't need to stress over battery life.

    • @zezzex-8821
      @zezzex-8821 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, I want to enjoy my fancy new expensive note 8. I dont want to have to turn features on when i want to use them. When I use my bluetooth headphones, I want to turn on my headphones and have it automatically sync with my phone. I dont want to be inconvenienced and have to go through the extra steps of turning bluetooth back on.
      With my handy Anker portable quick charger, I go quickly juice up my phone when i'm out and about during lunch or dinner or when i'm driving. A quick 30 min or 1 hour charge can easily get my battery back up to an acceptable level.

    App power monitor does absolutely nothing to increase battery life. It's an absolute gimmick. You are better off without using it. As a matter of fact you should not even touch the "Device Maintenance" section except to check the battery usage settings. As soon as you use it to clear RAM your battery will drain battery like water.
    NFC will turn on temporarily when Samsung Pay is used. You can keep NFC off at all times.
    Find my mobile will not work if location is completely turned off. To use find my mobile in case of loss or theft Battery Saving mode should be turned on at all times at the very least.
