My husband is a forest surveyor and he talks out loud or sings to let the bears know he's there. 33 years and he's seen so many, but never had a problem.
Thanks Ladies. Great adventure. We crossed over Forester Pass this past summer. I couldn't imagine crossing it covered in snow. I had to keep telling my wife not to look over the edge. Power to you.
So, as I watch this excellent vlog, all I hear in my head is🎶when the going gets tough, when the going gets rough, the tough get going🎶. Oh, and let’s throw in a bear!
Too bad about the 80 miles, but the next 700 miles will make up for it! 😀 What a story about the bear! Love the Joshua tree and the hight dessert! Carrying water on the other hand is a pain... Keep going! Kaat
Lol!! “ That’s what friends are for!” Great video, scarry bear story, you guys are awesome and doing big mileage days! I’m so envious and enjoy your videos! Thanks for posting !
Wow scary bear encounter and long water carries makes for some adventure. Always love seeing the town dance. Keep it up and thanks for the inspiration you all are!!!
Good decision to skip ahead! Hiking is adventurous and beautiful but mountains are to be respected, especially the High Sierra. Plenty of adventure ahead with Baden Powell and San Jacinto.
I am so impressed with your flexibility and resourcefulness. Thanks for sharing the many wonderful trail angels and friends. I followed a British hiker on her PCT journey and she was surprised and touched by the generosity and kindness of trail angels. How would anyone ever finish without their help?
Yall are smart for moving forward and passing up that section. Thank you for letting others know it's ok to do that and keep their safety in mind, especially new hikers. Thank you for sharing all you do. Stay wild, feral and safe!
That’s for the memories did Walker Pass in ‘19 resupplied at Onyx Store super cool lady made the best sandwiches and was able to recharge shower laundry and rest up in the garden outback. The Postoffice was really helpful also. Enjoy your Sobo to the border.
Well you should be good to go the rest of the way down south. Only question mark is Mount San jacinto. Once you get past the Mojave desert section and start climbing up into wrightwood, hopefully it won’t be too snowy yet between there and big bear. But I think you will be fine for that part. Hopefully you can plan to do a nice trip from onion valley up to Whitney then to Kennedy meadows south. That’s a glorious section. Well you are def in bear country right there. The good thing about black bears is that they are afraid of people for the most part. But they do love to sneak your food at night. Glad you are back in trail. And bring safe. Thanks for posting.
Love all the wonderful support around you as you face further challenges and appreciate your attitude as you keep moving south. You continue to encourage your virtual support team through your wonderful example. Your bear experience reminds me of the time we were hiking on a trail in the Oregon Coast Range and I heard massive rustling in the bushes. I turned back to hike closer to my husband just in time for a black bear to cross right in front of us and roll down hill through the thick underbrush and massive trees. It happened so fast but felt like time slowed down for that moment. Sending virtual support and hugs from your Oregon Buddy !
Good decision to skip Forrester Pass. I have that section to do too. Two years ago I hiked Kennedy Meadows South SOBO, in September. I’ll be watching to see how you do and pray that you’ll have all the water you need.
The scenery you are sharing is AMAZING! Someone posted that I should stay in Ohio and we have great scenery too but thank you so much for sharing your walk with us 😍
The PCT just keeps throwing you curve balls but you ladies just roll with it! Scenery has definitely changed. There’s a real Hidden Valley Ranch? Good luck over the next 700 miles!
Loving your journey, wanted to share a bear encounter something similar. - When I was a kid camping in Idaho in pup tents, my Dad awoke to something running through the brush in the middle of the dark night, sat up and boom, a bear headbutted him, accidentally of course, but it left a heck of a shiner, thankfully nothing worse, but my parents scooped us up and we all slept in the car that night. Freak accident.
Aww disappointed for you lassies that you had to skip some miles but would rather have you safe and sound. STILL ( 🤣🤣😍) be safe, be warm, enjoy and as always loving the views videos and you guys. 💛
When the weather demands you turn, it's what you do. Then you rest, "recalculate" and set out again. :-) Then a bison! (Edit: it was a BEAR. I don't know why I heard "bison"...) Another day, another great adventure, but I hope that desert sky rewarded you with amazing views of the universe before you fell asleep.
Always good to see you women. Kristy, what was immediately going through your mind with the bear? I hope I would react a calmly as you. It still must have been an adrenaline rush! Joshua Tree is yet another area on my bucket list. :)
Always play it smart. Just left Utah 10/11 could not go to Bryce-snow. Groucho said it best " I'd never join an organization that would have me as a member".
I love the way you just adapt to the things nature sends you, great lessons for all of us. The weather is so unpredictable and you can't do a thing about it. All the changes of scenery are nice to see, great videos. The bear encounter must have been so scary for you and him. I'm sorry you are having trouble receiving my goodie box in Lone Pine and Ridgecrest, but that's the way it goes I guess. It's quit a story about the resupply box. Love the town dance along with the town faces. I see Lynn doesn't wear gators, any reason? Are you back to hanging your food bags? Happy travels. Take care, be safe.
Hello Wander Wemon, I hope that you all are doing well. Another amazing video of your adventure. Really neat about the bear encounter. I do have a question. When your out hiking do you carry any kind of protection with you?
Hmm, Pesky's been awfully quiet lately. Are you sure she wasn't the hiker ahead of you and deliberately scared the bear in your direction. I wouldn't put it past her after failing to nab your goodie boxes, making you rush to her aid for an emergency only to find that emergency was a lack of toilet paper and sneaking her heavy items into your packs to carry for her. She's probably having a "that'll teach you" chuckle not to far off from you all. Stay safe out there and stay on alert for that pesky Ms. Pesky. You just never know what she'll try next.
Hey WaWo fans. Guess who just released a new music video? You'll recognize this voice as soon as you hear her. th-cam.com/video/EBrNZIELK6I/w-d-xo.html
Love the dance moves!! and love the words of wisdom at the end of the videos. You three are my heroes!
My husband is a forest surveyor and he talks out loud or sings to let the bears know he's there. 33 years and he's seen so many, but never had a problem.
Doing amazing. Bear in counter sounds scary and exciting. Keep trekking. 😀
Like that bear, you all just keep rolling with the punches. Love your tenacity and oh yeah, the beauty! WaWo rocks.
Great bear story! Glad he didn’t barrel into you. Love your spirit and enthusiasm.😀
The CA Desert is just awesome. The views are to die for.
I love your stories! Thanks for sharing and stay warm.
Great video, scenery, and it certainly is the "HIGH" desert! Glad you're safe! Let's hope the next 700 go as well! ❤
It was a pleasure meeting you ladies😊. Nice to see you again!
Thank you ladies for your adventures! I even got in your video. Trail angel tie dye!
Even the bears know you ladies are the real deal!
Thanks Ladies. Great adventure. We crossed over Forester Pass this past summer. I couldn't imagine crossing it covered in snow. I had to keep telling my wife not to look over the edge. Power to you.
I’m glad you got your up close and personal view of a bear without danger. The bear was probably telling its family it’s scary human encounter story.
So, as I watch this excellent vlog, all I hear in my head is🎶when the going gets tough, when the going gets rough, the tough get going🎶. Oh, and let’s throw in a bear!

You guys have the best trail magic friends I have ever seen! It’s amazing to see your friends. Thank you for sharing!
WOW that bear experience sounds wild! Love how your town faces have progressed to Town dances. WAWO!
Okay… Annette imitating the… well… you know, with sound effects… “Haaaaa…. haaaaa…” Priceless! That made my day! Thanks! 😃👏❤️🌞
Lol!! “ That’s what friends are for!” Great video, scarry bear story, you guys are awesome and doing big mileage days! I’m so envious and enjoy your videos! Thanks for posting !
Great episode.! Love your journey to Walker Pass. Love the town dance and the bear story. Stay safe. Y'all! And don't forget to vote! 💛💛💛
Beautiful scenery in this area. The Joshua trees are great. Hope that is your only bear "encounter." Blessings
FLEXIBILITY! That's the way to roll with the punches! Welcome to dry SoCal! I'm excited to see how your adventure continues! Keep up the good work!

Good decision to skip ahead! Hiking is adventurous and beautiful but mountains are to be respected, especially the High Sierra. Plenty of adventure ahead with Baden Powell and San Jacinto.
You guys are amazing. You inspire us to hike more. Just explore with no excuses.

my face just lit up at the town dance - had to get up and join in.

Just thank you much! You make a difference !

Beautiful video ladies stay safe wears valley TN watching
Bummer about missing that section. We were near bishop when that storm hit, it was impressive. Glad your being safe!
Good decision to skip Forrester Pass. I have that section to do too. Two years ago I hiked Kennedy Meadows South SOBO, in September. I’ll be watching to see how you do and pray that you’ll have all the water you need.
Love the town dance :)
Another great video.
Great singing and I loved the town dance with a smile.
Hard decisions to make but like you said, you can come back and do that section. Glad all went well with the bear. You gals are getting there.
Sorry you had to miss part of the Sierras but you made the right decision. You are awesome town dancers!
The scenery you are sharing is AMAZING! Someone posted that I should stay in Ohio and we have great scenery too but thank you so much for sharing your walk with us 😍
you may enjoy Homemade Wanderlust's recent video of Grandma Gatewood on the Appalachian Trail
Awesome journey gals! On On 👣👣👣
The PCT just keeps throwing you curve balls but you ladies just roll with it! Scenery has definitely changed. There’s a real Hidden Valley Ranch? Good luck over the next 700 miles!
When you don't have jobs to get to, everything is good.
Awesome!

Wow! Amazing story.
That sounds like a scary bear encounter but it made a great story.
Oh cool, another group of PCTers I followed this year stayed at that same place in Lone Pine.
Wow! What kind of bear? Not like those shy smaller black ones in VA? Goat
A black bear
Water is going to be tough. When you get down near Warner Springs or further south and need anything give a holler.
Thank you
Aww disappointed for you lassies that you had to skip some miles but would rather have you safe and sound. STILL ( 🤣🤣😍) be safe, be warm, enjoy and as always loving the views videos and you guys. 💛
Too bad about the Sierras. I guess you'll just have to do the JMT next year!

It happened so fast it was hard to process.
Love the singing, so relaxed and spontaneous ❤️
Town dance ..love it

Thanks for sending the box. Sorry it became complicated. Yes we are hanging our food bags.
What town were ya'll in on Oct 11th when the lady rode the horse down the main street? Thank ya'll for sharing videos. You ladies rock !
Lone Pine, CA
Yes! A WaWo video! Hike on 🥾🥾🥾
I like the cdt and the at
please let us know when you make it to Vazquez rocks. Would love to come meet you and bring you some goods or a hot meal.
Hello Wander Wemon, I hope that you all are doing well. Another amazing video of your adventure. Really neat about the bear encounter. I do have a question. When your out hiking do you carry any kind of protection with you?
Only bear spray.
Your tents look heavy. How much do they weigh?
What a great trip, thanks for the senic tour, so are you all now headed for the border?
Yes we are.
So you do the section from KM to Charlotte Lake next year in early summer?
I have a question….on average how much water do you drink in a day?
That spot at 00:26 when it looks like Lynn is bailing out on you! 😆🤣
Big foot no it's a bear oh my cool
I love y’all!
The High Sierras are patient. They'll wait for you to come back.
The bear encounter sounds wild and I'm thankful it wasn't going to attack any of you 3. God watches over all. ;) God speed....
So ironic to have this close bear encounter just days after mailing those bear cannisters home!
I know this message is early but I'm happy to pick you up in Campo if you need a ride once you get to the border...
Thank you so much. Let's stay in touch.
Too bad you didn't have the camera on to get the bear into your video! 😲 that must have been scary exilarating!
❤️

Ha ha. It sounds like something she would do.
The bear encounter was "fun" because you lived to tell about it. Now it can be a "war" story.
