    A dear friend gave me all of his sewing gear before moving to another country, including a box of bobbins of thread in many colours. He sadly passed a few years ago. Now this is a perfect tribute to him by embarking on a project like this. Thank you for the "nudge"!

      That’s a beautiful idea💕 While I was stitching this piece, I imagined about people who originally bought these threads (especially the gold and silver threads!). I wondered what they made with them, though I had no idea who they were.
      I think the process of stitching by hand gives you the opportunity to imagine or remember something or someone. It’s a really wonderful way to remember the person who gave those threads to you❤️🧵🪡 Thank you for sharing it❤️💕❤️💕

    Hi, I am in love with this bag! My question is what kind of fabric is that? I have muslin but my muslin is thinner than what you are stitching on. Hi! I got this material from a thrift store and it didn’t say what kind of material it was.
      I think it was 100% cotton broadcloth. It was almost like calico but it felt smoother than that. It’s always best to test your material with your needle and see if you can run the needle smoothly. If the fabric is too tightly woven, it may be hard to make fine stitches😊

    That looks like a great bag for future projects! I’ve rescued lots of tatting weight thread from a local thrift store to use for sashiko. It may be older than I am and works up like a dream. Thank you so much❤️😊 I actually used a general sewing needle which came as a set of different sorts.
      I normally check if the needle is easy to stitch through my fabric before starting. I’ve found that the combination of a needle and a material have a significant effect on the stitching experience.
      If you found your needle hard to stitch, maybe it was not for the particular material.

    Is it cotton fabric ? Looks thick fabric. Can we use simple cotton thread 🧵? What is the size of needle 💉?

    • @thegreenwrapper
      @thegreenwrapper  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s plain cotton. I don’t know exactly what it is but it’s like broadcloth or something. Not very thick. If you use thicker fabric, you may not be able to make fine stitches. I’d recommend testing the material with your needle beforehand.
      I’m sure cotton thread would be much easier to stitch than sewing machine thread😆 They were almost too fine…
      I don’t remember the size of the needle (I think it was mostly a thin needle from Tulip which I purchased in Japan) but I always test the combination of the needle and fabric. Even with the same needle, it feels different depending on the material.

    How many stitches do you make in one go? Before you pull the thread?

    • @thegreenwrapper
      @thegreenwrapper  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have never counted it, but I accumulate the fabric on the needle as much as possible when I stitch straight. When I use a long needle, I can go for 30cm or so depending on the thickness of the fabric.
      On a curved line, I take out the needle more often to create a smooth curve😊

      I used to have the same problem a lot😅
      If you pull the thread gently, you can often find a potential knot where the thread is twisted. When you see it, you can prevent it from getting tangled by pulling that part a little to straighten it up👍

    I don’t think you stitch too slowly as you seem to get a lot done in one pull. This would make a great cushion cover or wall hanging.
