2 years ago my college choir did this song and I was a 1st alto. I just remember the first time we ever ran through it with the soprano duet and I just stopped singing because I just wanted to listen. My ears had never heard more beautiful music in my life! It was the first song that ever brought tears to my eyes because of its sheer beauty. I come back and listen to it every so often because I love it so much
Thank you for sharing your special experience of being deeply moved by (this) music ! ( I like to remember something similar when I sang "new spiritual songs" in a band. There was a pause for the singers and I was touched by the harmony of instruments.)
@@marianocardillofotografo Hello Mariano, thanks so much for explaining to me this precious trace of the culture of the human voices. I will listen to it and enjoy it. Stay safe.
It was really funny that my phone set this song as alarm clock randomly from TH-cam music and I didn't know it. I didn't woke up instantly but dreamed about the song and actually heard the song in my dream. It was so enchanting and emotional that I would cry. Then I woke up and I saw my phone with the alarm clock and the song name. Glad I found this song
this comment from 5 years ago resonates with me rn. this piece will be the closer to the concert my choir will be putting on in a couple of months. but the piece we will do immediately before it is "a silence haunts me" which actually wasnt even written yet when you commented this. and its a poets mysicsl adaptation of a letter(s) Bethoven wrote while he was losing his hearing. one line in particular goes "take my feelings, take my sight. take my wings, midflight but let me hear! let me hear! let me hear, the searing roar of air, before i score the ground." its a very powerful piece (and long too, like 13 minutes) i definately recommend listening to it on youtube.

I have been in a highly acclaimed choir for nearly 30 years. I have the desire but not the talent to perform this as beautifully as this is done.. Not sure I have ever seen pure beauty, but now I know I have heard it. Must be what Heaven is like.
Jeff Weber Probably much better than what we experience in this mortal body. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” I Cor 2:9. That will be glorious!
Every choir has their moments when they can make grown adults cry; regardless of their acclamation. The Cantate Magyar singers based out of Budapest made me cry when I heard them sing Biebl's Ave Maria while I was visiting Vienna, and walked into a church and got to hear them sing that.
O SAVING Sacrifice opening wide the gate of heaven to all below. our foes press on from every side; thine aid supply, thy strength bestow to thy great name be endless praise immortal godhead, one in three; oh, grant us endless length of days, in our true native land with thee
O salutaris Hostia, Quae caeli pandis ostium: Bella premunt hostilia, Da robur, fer auxilium. Uni trinoque Domino Sit sempiterna Gloria, Qui vitam sine termino Nobis donet in patria.
I was staying in Cambridge for some time in 2019. I remember going to evensongs to various colleges' chapels to hear the beautiful singing, and I distinctly remember the Trinity college chapel barely had any visitors for the evensong. HOW??? How do people miss out on such great singing??? I was in heaven.
Ēriks Ešenvalds definitely heard this beautiful melody from Heaven, from God Himself! Listening to Solutaris Hostia, your spirit flies to upper spheres, other dimension. ❤
exquisite tone and control, blend sounds like one voice, rich, lush harmonic language and purity of vowels is breathtaking. these 2 ladies melt my heart.
This music and its interpretation shakes...!!! It is so beautiful that I can feel proud of what a human being can do so wonderfully. It is really divine!!! And divine is the soul of the human who created it... Thank you so much for sharing it!!!
This is truly sacred to the core. I first heard it last Holy Thursday, March 29 song at the National Shrine , washington DC I was in tears, so profoundly moved.
Just sublime. Perfectly embodies the mood and tone suitable only for the divine reverence of the Blessed Sacrament. Thank you for your wonderful rendition!

So peaceful, so light...when they sing it looks like everyone can sing the same! This just show quality of the choir and soloist!!! It's really like a little piece of Heaven that they bring to us when they sing! Bravo!
This is superb. There is no other word for this performance. The choir builds such a beautiful platform for the sops to soar. I cannot stop listening to the performance.
I gotta be totally honest. Singing this as a "performance" for an audience is extremely weird. This text is for the purpose of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. A singular purpose. Not "performance"
Absolutely sublime. I performed this in college about five or so years ago, and I remember that this is the video my director played to give my choir an idea of what it sounded like. I also remember that I couldn't make it through the piece without crying, which is really inconvenient when you're trying to sing...! But it was always worth experiencing this piece in full. Thank you so much for this gorgeous recording.
Wonderful voices that can only be created by the youth of the heart, the clarity of the discipline, and the joy of singing! My heart is full of Joy, I thank God that I can hear it!
