Thank you sooo much for posting this. My dad would play on his grand, ebony Yamaha..piano..(he got over-seas in Okinawa) Then he came back form the Vietnam War...every time a little ..different..until, one day, he came home for good (the war ending on my birthday, 1975..I was 4)...the only time he was at peace (not raging from the ptsd) was when he was playing. Hearing this used to make me cry but now I just reflect on him..the good times. He passed form Agent Orange after fighting cancer for 4 years in 2014...I miss him.
What a poignant post. I'm glad that your dad at least found some respite in music after such difficult experiences and that music now provides a backdrop to your memories of him, hopefully giving you some comfort in turn.
Hi Chrstine, I'm sorry to read that you lost your father back then. But do you know that there is a hope for everyone to see the lost loved ones again here on earth. God promises us through the bible, that the loss of our loved ones, fates in life through environmental disasters or injustices will come to an end. Jesus the Son of God said: ...,,do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and will come out, John 5:28,29, or according to Isaiah 25:8 death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. Revelations 21:3-5 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” Also he says: “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” This is an assurance from God addressed directly to us and he promises us a wonderful future in which we can see our loved ones again who we have lost. Doesn't that sound promising? I send you a really hope giving link with the theme "a better world is near" www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/watchtower-no2-2021-may-jun/ and I am sure that this article will build you up, because the future does look much better than most of the people expect. I wish you all the best for your future and send you my best greetings Michel
Well your wife has nothing to worry about. She plays beautifully. I am a pianist as well and I admire her posture and playing style: the way the notes colide specifically with one another to make it beautiful without sounding mushy; how each note is played so it too has its moment. Out of all the videos of this song that I have seen this one is by far my favourite. I wish there were more people on youtube who made videos with this cuality. My congratulations.
People here in the comment sections, just want to say that you all have unique souls 💛 although we all live in 21th century I believe all of us would like to be a part of 19-20th centuries.. Whatever, good to see such beautiful souls here 😇
Love this piece so much! I listened to you playing it 7 years ago and loved it. Yesterday as I saw the movie, I remembered you and came here. Thank you!
Played with wonderful sensitivity as befitting the theme of the film. Thanks for sharing! Definitely the best piano rendition I've heard yet on TH-cam.
this is so beautiful!! i always cry listening to this music, i think the film is just so beautiful and a large part of that is the music- and this performance has definitely done it so much justice, so thank you thank you ❤❤
Thank you, I've listened many times your interpretation as a reference. I'm studying this piece with the help of my teacher as I find it just beautiful. It transmits hope from sadness.
@TweedleDee1 .. it is my very great pleasure, to simply say THANK YOU for enriching my life, with your wife's STUNNING playing... I love the film, have it on DVD and now I have added your lovely wife's playing to my favourites too... Best regards from Wales UK :0)x
Please, share the sheet with us! It's the best versoin I've ever found... It sounds so lovely... I play piano too and would love to learn this one, 'cause is one of mmy favorites too! I would be very very gratefull.
Brilliantly played, once again I wish I could play the piano. Sounds exactly the same as it does in the film. Jane Austen love :D And I loved this too x
I love watching your fingers play...oh how I wish I could play...what peace it must bring to you. Such beautiful music. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Thanks for this! The official soundtrack (Sony) has all the music but orchestrated to death with none of the original cast singing. In case the A&R guy didn't notice, there isn't room in the period 'cottage' for a full symphony orchestra which is why they use a piano. Doh!
A really nice version of this beautiful piece of music ! The way your talented wife played it perfectly reminds me of the enchanting, elegant atmosphere of the film. Thank you so much for the video !
I loved this piece from when I heard it in the film a while back. What a lovely performance and I am so glad you have transcribed this! I have printed it off it's such a beautiful piece to play! Thank you!
I feel in love with this song, the first time I hear it in the movie. And the piano player is playing it like she did in the movie. She made mistakes in the movie. BEAUTIFUL!!!
what a movie and the music this song, the dance where elinor meets up with willoughby, and even the credits. perfect performances, perfect movie. Left impression on my heart forever.....
i can't tell you how AMAZING this was! thank you so much for posting this and even more for providing the link for the sheets. your wife's piano playing was absolutley lovely.
Thankyou. Loved this since the first time I saw the film. Rewound numerous times on my video player 😂 the tape was probably warped for the opening scene
Really gorgeous performance! Thank you so much for generously making your sheet music available as well. There is so much there! I'll be able to spend many a happy hour learning it. = )
You’re absolutely right when you say no matter how well you’ve mastered a piece, it will always be hard to record because of the pressure of having to get it perfect. What o would advise you to do is record and video or practice sessions and then delete them over and over to get used to being in front of a camera.
wow! im so glad you posted this! haha and having long fingers is great for piano...i can stretch an octave and two notes :P its really useful. Tell your wife shes rrrreeeaalllyyyy good!!!
So beautifully played..... Thank you for sharing this :) Also thanks for putting in the link to download the sheet music, I've wanted to learn this for ages :)

This is absolutely a gift to all the fans of the film - So glad she created this for all to enjoy. Thanks Ever!
I don't know why but these piece always makes me feels ad and brings me to tears
me too
Part of the reason is that the piece is in a minor key.
I cry like a baby listening to this
Me too. And now that both my parents have died even more. :'(
It’s partly to do with Doyle’s superb use of secondary dominant chords and suspensions. They just work! Isn’t this so beautiful?
I agree with the guy about 10 years later. Thank you for this one too 🥺🎵
I LOVE Colonel Brandon. Stupid Willoughby.
Silly boy. Indeed. Marianne was priceless.
Lesson learned.
