I have seen more concerts than the average guy for sure, pretty much every band you mentioned in this great review, and this U2 concerts was undoubtably the coolest thing I have ever seen man.
    Thanks for sharing that review.

Right there with ya. It’s unlike anything in the world, obviously.

First time viewer of the content here. I went to the show on 10/18/23 (Section 307) and you got the full scope of what the venue can do from that middle portion (200-300 level) where the band wasn’t too close and the all the acoustic visuals were eye level. The venue itself is stunning. Have seen U2 a few times, but their visual message fits this venue so well. I don’t completely agree that Phish only doing 4 dates will allow the visuals to pop (not because the band can’t do it, but to understand the scope of the venue more than 4 is needed). U2 was the perfect band to open the venue (in my opinion) because they have always been cutting edge visually and the venue needs someone who can have the visuals to go with the music. Just having say the Stones go there and play 10-15 shows, and just rock out with their new album, not sure they could match the visual aspect as well as U2 did. Great review and hope to see more U2 reviews from you in the future.

Cheers! I'm dying to go back again before they finish their residency. And I completely agree. This venue was made for what U2 does best! God it was awesome.

Saw them at the Sphere in October and it was incredible!! It was my first time seeing them. We had GA and I couldn’t believe how close we were.
We happened to be there the night Lady Gaga came out too which was extra special. That venue is simply stunning. I can’t wait to see what they do with it in the future.

What are the earplugs that you mention? I wish I had the chance to see them at The Sphere. I saw 'the lads' on the Boy album. I knew right there and then they were going to be BIG. I also heard U2 might be back in 2025 with a new album. Have you heard of this?

You’ll have to remind me what I was referencing in regards to earplugs...
I wanna say I likely mentioned NOT wearing earplugs at Sphere, despite always wearing them at other concerts. You simply don’t need them at the Sphere
Haven’t heard anything about a new record on my end

U2 was in its prime in the 90s.

I don’t disagree. Hearing all of Achtung Baby live was amazing

In concert, they're still as good as ever, but I do think ZooTV was their best tour. On record, their peak was the 5 album run from War (1983) to Achtung Baby (1991).

I don't understand the hype with this. I like early U2 through Actung Baby, but after that they have been just putting out crap in my opinion. I have been to a few U2 concerts back in the day (Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum). As for concerts, I have not been to one anywhere in 20+ years and now days there is not one worth going to in my opinion. I think the Sphere is a joke just as Vegas is now where I am concerned. I have no desire to check it out no matter who/what is playing. Vegas used to be pretty good back when I went on occasion, but now I wouldn't be caught dead there.

The Sphere is a joke, but yet you’ve never even experienced it. Ok.

Achtung Baby is my favorite but All That You Can’t Leave Behind is just as strong. Listen to “In A Little While”. It is a timeless classic.

All That You Can't Leave Behind is also ok in my opinion. I have not heard the song you reference in a very long time, I will go back and listen when I get a chance. I like Beautiful Day, Elevation (one of my favorites of the newer stuff) and Stuck In a Moment is good as well.
I can't stand their newer stuff from Pop to How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (except Vertigo is ok) to present. That Atomic City song is awful in my opinion and I have heard it several times. That said, U2 was not known for their song writing like some other artists are.
I have no interest in seeing U2 today. I also have no interest in seeing any band in Vegas, sphere and otherwise. I Have no interest in ever going back to Vegas period.

I’ve come to the conclusion that U2 cannot write rock songs anymore. Yet that’s what they serve up as their “hits”. 75% of their new albums are mediocre to really bad but there are some gems on each album. These “deep tracks” are some of my favorites in their entire catalog. Check out:
In A Little While, Kite, Stuck In A…, Walk On, Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own, City Of Blinding Lights, Iris, and Landlady.

I went opening night. Sept 30th.
Best concert experience I’ve attended in 40 years.
Have you seen the live vinyl of the show that someone released? It’s limited. Google - U2 Calling Elvis.

The LP sounds like a 70’s live album.
ie - Eagles, Ted Nugent, Peter Framton………….
