      Would be kinda boring if D&D could only depict things from American culture. Every second dungeon would have to be a McDonalds.

      Sometimes things go over people's head and sometimes they duck.

    • @Mugulord
      @Mugulord 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well that's racist and I'm not going to engage with Jeff further. For those reading here and unsure what to take away: Shivam doesn't owe anyone labour, Shivam is not required to defend against all appropriation in order to justify what he said about the parts that affect him, and appropriation without representation causes harm in myriad ways that require a great deal of time and space to explain fully. Shivam has the right to be disappointed when he sees his culture used to make money for people that aren't part of his culture because that has been the narrative of his culture's modern history: white people taking what they want and not giving a damn thing in return.
      The difference between appropriation and appreciation is context: Who works at wizards, how accurate the representation is, whether it is used in a way that benefits the culture it's from, or shines a light onto the subject in ways that inspire conversation and growth, and other things I'm not qualified to talk about all play a role in that conversation.
      Wizards drawing inspiration from all cultures does not absolve them of wrongdoing, this is not a scale that can be balanced in this way, that's a false comparison. It seems intuitive but falls apart with just a tiny bit of effort. We do not live in a world where we can't address one problem until we address all linked problems. That is a good way of never doing anything, it's a mindset that only benefits people that existing systems already support. We are all benefited the most by tackling the problems we have at the scales we exist at using the resources we have, like Shivam did. Good for him.

    pretty sure that after the Acrobatics, MInthara wouldn't trigger. You can't return them at the beginning of the end step and THEN get a beginning of combat trigger from a permanent that just came into play at the beginning of combat.
    Also, it's so funny how Serge has the attention span of a small child. Hilarious.
    when the imps die, if Raphael is in play, they do have lifelink so their ping heals! such a cool interaction.

    This is already amuch more interesting draft format then the one they do on Friday night paper fight. Not that I don't still want to see them do draft/limited content on that show but I do find myself almost always skipping the draft portion.
    Watching a single person in 1 in whatever person pod you're going to then watch the games of works well if it's a digital client I found but doing so live is a lot harder to follow and less interesting at least to me. When talking about mostly unedited stuff I mean.
    Big thumbs-up for this series glad you guys are able to pay the editor/s to do all the behind-the-scenes work to make this stuff look so slick and the banter and dialog flow so well!

    This is great. Wanted to watch your irl draft stuff before but it was difficult to see what was getting picked and would often be confusing to follow. This new way of doing it gives the viewer a better experience allowing the drafters to not only highlight their picks but also give their reasonings behind them.
    Wasn't expecting to enjoy following more than one drafter at a time but I was pleasantly surprised.

    I have only participated in two Draft events in my entire life, both from this series. In both events, I wound up playing an Izzet build, because that’s how my pulls worked out. I also got my bum kicked, every time; only won against one opponent in one pod, and then got knocked out myself. Playing in a multi-player format is quite cutthroat compared to 1-vs-1, which I’m more used to. And yet, despite that, it was the most fun I’ve had in years. Plus, I got plenty of good cards for other EDH decks.
    My favorite moment was opening a pack and finding an Ancient Silver Dragon (the regular edition), even if I never actually got to summon it. My favorite game was when I was able to bring out 17 lands, due to fabulous luck with Lantern of Revealing. Although that *did* bite me in the butt *hard* later, when the guy who beat me summoned Elturel Survivors as his kill card.

    Since I don't think it was brought up, when Adam blinked his board with Lae'zel's Acrobatics, since Minthara came back into play as a result of a 'at the beginning of your end step trigger' it wouldn't have been in play at the beginning of Adam's end step, so Minthara's beginning of end step trigger shouldn't have triggered as was played out during said turn, meaning he had one more experience counter than he should have during the game.
