    You are a bright light in the universe which is commonly known as a star, because of your positivity you are a magnetic charge that others in your position do not have, so you are charging them up and giving them hope for the future,

      Thank you so much! I have a long list of what I would like to incorporate in those videos. So that’s the plan. My next one’s going to be on how I’ve set up my kitchen to work for me. Then I would like to once a month make a quad cooking episode.Thank you for tuning in and for the feedback

    What kind of cushion do you have on your chair? Thank you for these videos and being an inspiration to so many!

      Thank you so much for your feedback. And that is the goal of those videos so I’m glad it’s helping.
      I am sitting on a “Ride Forward” (www.ridedesigns.com/forward-cushion) and love it. There isn’t anything too intricate about it, It gives me nice support with a little bit of jump in the seat, it’s easy to take on and off your chair, easy to change the cover if you had an accident, there isn’t a crazy amount of dumb so it’s easy to transfer out of the bucket, and there isn’t an a lot of maintenance around it like an air filled cushion.
      That’s said I’ve been very lucky with my skin, haven’t had any skin issues so far, so this cushion works well for me. If you are experiencing some skin issues, I have a look at a a Roho cushion or some thing similar that alters your weight around where you’re sitting.
      Hope this helps. Best of luck!

    You do this so well! How long ago was your SCI? I feel so weak. Mine was c5-c7 21/2 years ago.

      I’m 37, C-5/6 about 5.5 years. Takes time to get stronger, I was super weak the first couple years as well. I also should’ve been more vigilant with my exercising routine, but had some hardship with transfer a few years back, which motivated me to start a routine. I guess you live and learn. It’s super important to stay on top of your cardio, strengthening and stretching routine. It’ll give you more strength that will facilitate doing activities of daily living, such things as transferring and wheeling across different terrains. Also took me a while to be able to transfer without a board. It’s all time practice and keeping up your strength.
      I do have a little bit triceps which helps, do you?

    This is great, thanks god sharing. When you lie down are you able to get up on your own? I have a push bar beside my head to help me get up

    • @QuadLife101
      @QuadLife101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I’m on my side I can. I usually use the wheel of my chair to get on my side on one side and on the other I have a metal bar to flip over. I also use that technique for getting dressed. I’ll eventually make a video about that I’ll share it and tag you in it. Hope this helps!

    Curious how much triceps you have I'm a C5 also with zero triceps and I have really struggled with these types of transfers over the years

    • @QuadLife101
      @QuadLife101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was incomplete, so I closely present give or take as a C7. My triceps are there, but they’re weak. However, I do some exercise to maximize their potential. I will eventually make some exercise routine videos in the future, but to give a little bit of a low down on my triceps function atm, I can do an overhead tricep lift with a 2lbs weight. I, also do some cross-country skiing in the winter which helps build my triceps strength and muscle endurance.
      There’s actually another guy on TH-cam who does some pretty amazing transfer videos for people without triceps. You should check out “live to roll,” I think he’s name is Sean and he does have some good tricks. Hope this helps!

    What kind of bEd is that?

    • @QuadLife101
      @QuadLife101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a Rotec bed. I'll put the link below if you want to check it out. Ended up getting it when I was steel green to my SCI coming out of the rehab center and it does work quite well. That said because it's approved adaptive equipment, I think it's way over price for what it is. You can get some thing that's much cheaper and will have similar features. I have a friend’s a long term quad that just got a regular bed with the proper mattresses for him and his partner where you can lift up the backrest individually on both side. The bed doesn't go up and down, but the feet of the bed can be adjusted so it's at the right height for you to transfer. If I had to redo it that's the option I would look into it's a way cheaper way to do it and probably more comfortable. I'm pretty tiny so this bed going to lowest it can go is still a little bit high for me. Hope this helps!
