Oh what , in this world of care, if one one cannot just stand and stare.. The photo buffs secret.. You touched on some good stuff Joel! ..and it's still out there waiting for the philosphic eye to see. cheers
If you pick the right vantage point and grab a telephoto lens and a tripod you can certainly be invisible. Everyone thinks street photography is about getting in people's faces with a 35mm lens but that is just once way to get the shot
I respect the man but if he thinks there's no difference on a black and white value scale between yellow and blue, then he does not understand the actual luminescent values of colours.
No he is correct: yellow and blue together in B&W look pretty flat, very little contrast. Now if you put a red filter on your lens and take the shot, or even a circular polarizer, well, now it'll work a lot better in B&W.
Mr. Parks made political commentary and he did it brilliantly, his images are timeless. Meyerowitz is more artistic. You can enjoy both without making crass comparisons.
Joel is a great photographer but why does he feel that he needs to justify and explain them? Does he think he would be accepted as more intellectual than he is if he explains his photographs?
My thanks and gratitude to Joel Meyerowitz!
1- a moment
2- a subject
3- a message
Listen to what he has to say, amazing
What insight i really enjoyed this
Love your work
thanks

Was he on star trek discovery?

The street photos were breathtaking, but Cesanne's Objects -- yawn... too avante garde
if you see it in the book, it is very beautiful, but this snapshot does not do it justice here

It´s an artistic statement and opinion, not to be taken literally.

I use to admire his work until I realized how average it is.
How so?
Very average images......helps if your mates own the media !!! Not a patch on Gordon parks or many others in fact.
You need to justify that critique and comparison. Very weak.
Mr. Parks made political commentary and he did it brilliantly, his images are timeless. Meyerowitz is more artistic. You can enjoy both without making crass comparisons.
Absolutely truth, it helps to belong to some powerful tribe
quel mépris pour la photographie noir et blanc .. Je n'aime vraiment pas Joel Meyerowitz dans ce qu'il dit et ce qu'il fait ...

His explanations are a teachable money friend. He's educating us hacks.
He is passing knowledge.
The baloney is laid on pretty thick
