I have a 2020 platium awd and love it. CVT transmission is for a retired person who do not care about going fast out of a bend or turn. That's why I like a murano since 2003 the 3.5 engine is proven to be bullet proof. Nissan put this engine in most of it's vehicles for years! For me, it's not about how fast the car can go, no not at all, it's all about going from from point A to point B in comfort, and that's all what the cars was invented for.
I usually hate on Nissan for their outdated interior, but I love their exterior, mainly with sedans, but this Murano Platinum is very amazing, especially the looks of the semi aniline leather. Thanks for the review, Drew & Mason
My friends mom has the 19 S. And it is pretty cool, the amount of features you get on an entry model is great! So many things, and the materials are great!
Owned an '07, still driving a '13. Cvt died at 90k, Nissan covered 70% of cost because of goodwill based on maintenance history and 5 Nissan products owned consecutively. THAT is customer service! Waiting for a redesign and I'll buy another. Most comfortable car I've driven, 10 hour driving days are a pleasure.

I really loved my 2003 Murano. It was a great vehicle. Although I like the more modern styling, after reading a lot of reviews, I don’t think I would buy another one because of the CVT transmission. Probably going to buy either a Telluride or a Palisade. More safety features, more room, quieter, and way better warranty than any other new vehicles.
Just wondering what you mean by interior outdated. I like the dash so much better than other midsize vehicles I've looked at. I am petite and would not be able to reach for those screen that look like a tablet stuck on the dash
Great review. I am purchasing this vehicle tomorrow and trading in my Traverse (so thankful for this). Leg room for front and rear seats are comparable but because I had a 3rd row, cargo is always more on Traverse. But honestly, 3rd rows are a sham unless you get a Suburban or Navigator. Everything under that fits no one comfortabely :-(
Same thing. Looks like they cut off all good things to fit into $50K price. Just compare our z51 double decker central box with shitty box on z52. Designers spent all budget :)
I have a 2018 Murano Platinum and I have to say I'm a little jealous of the 2020. Love the tweaks to the front and rear they did, cleaning it up nicely. It's still sporty, but more elegant with the removal of some of the chrome, and the all LED front is sweet. The changes to the rear tail lights are very nice, now that they removed the ugly chrome inlays they had. The exterior looks a little more aggressive yet still sophisticated now. The addition of the USB-C in the center console is a new feature that wasn't in the 2018. Though I know the comparison is normal given price and size classes, I still always find it funny that it's compared RX because the RX is geared to the type of ride old people like and it shows with the overly plush, spongy ride, to the point it handles poorly and wallows like a pig in turns, whereas the Murano is geared to a sportier handling, but still comfortable and refined. The Murano's body lean in aggressive driving is pretty nominal for a 5,400 lb vehicle, considering it's geared to being a luxury vehicle. I was impressed with my 2018 because I found that Nissan shaved the turning radius considerably from the 2010 I came from, so they park much easier, especially in head-in parking. The 2018-20's also make u-turns much tighter than the previous two body styles.
I have the 06 AWD with 130k. Just baby the CVT don't drive it like a sports car and it should last. Also change your fluids out it a small price to pay than paying thousands to repair the CVT. If you plan on keeping it for years take care of it. Nissan has never been great on quality as for the CVT issues in the pass, but I still like Nissan.
Hello Drew and Mason 😄, Nissan Murano is a stylish classy SUV for the current gen being 5 years old, tho it's odd there's some hard touch plastic surfaces in the top level Platinum trim, nearly $50k it's odd Nissan would do that. Excellent vid review however 👌, the cargo space behind the 2nd row w/ the seats up is impressive. Drew, have you narrowed down your next daily driver? Maybe if it's possible you two can review the 2019 Jetta GLI, I'm aware you're not partnered w/ VW. I was thinking with the new Atlas Cross Sport joining the VW lineup that would be incredible, and I was thinking Drew you would want get a feel for the GLI. I can totally see you in a Mazda6 with the turbo engine in a red metallic.

I traded in a 2014 Maxima (that I got in 2018) for a 2020 Murano Platinum ...I liked how the Maxima's CVT held the constant powerband RPM and accelerated so smoothly, and was surprised when I felt the step shift of the 2020 Murano. I didn't know they did that. I've only had the Murano for about 3 days, and it only has 24000 mi on it, but I hope it is not harder on the CVT. I don't normally drive like a maniac (I'm almost 60 yrs old) But I do like to "pour the coal to them" now and then. 😁
Santa Fe tech and interior is very impressive. However the looks of the Santa Fe ... too similar to Subaru for my liking. Murano is very nice looking, imho.
20 years ago, I wouldn't think twice to get a Nissan or an Infiniti product. Our 96 and 2000 Pathfinders were absolute tanks and some of the most reliable vehicles we ever had. Today, I wouldn't even DARE go near one. Ever since the merger with Renault their reliability has been sinking further and further. And Nissan knows their reputation is slipping hence why they framed Ghosn in an attempt to ruin their relationship with Renault and force a split. Which honestly, I think would be the best thing to ever happen to Nissan.
Yeag we had a '95 SE Pathfinder it was an amazing vehicle for our family of five we took it on many road trips up and down '95 from The Pocono Mountains to Southern Virginia up until we got rid of it in 2006 because my dad hit something lolz. But if he didnt it would still be here. That thing was a beast in the Snow!!

have any of you looked for CVT failure or problems in the Murano forums??.. still happening and Nissan and all using this CVT are still upping their warrantys against failure. .
Kenn They typically, Nissans are known to have one of the worst ones. They may have gotten back to better ones in the past few years but tend to be unreliable.
For me we never had a problem with the Cvt. Had a 07 murano that made it to 200k before we traded it in for a 2018 murano. Even my moms 2015 murano hasn’t have any problem. My cousin has a 14 Sentra and that has 150 k and still running. The main key is changing the cvt fluid every 30k-50k. If you live in a hotter climate adding an external transmission cooler helps too.
23Xterra I suppose you guys are always on top of maintence? People tend to skimp over oils changes, and topping the fluids which might be the cause for so many failures. But Nissan still needs to improve CVTs in general for a better ride, etc.
Most CVT haters have never owned one. They drive a little different than automatic, but then so do electric cars. When I was a teenager people hated automatics. They were called slush boxes. Every one a manual back then

Nissan claims that they improved the CVTs in newer models but I’m not too sure... I currently own two Muranos, 2012 with 64k miles, and a 2016 with 60k miles. Both have served me well so far

No doubt... my biggest complaint for the last 3 - 4 years. All the vehicles that have been redone by Nissan, and they all have the new style steering wheel, yet they keep missing this one.
Thats odd. I ownrd a 2012 Murano SL until 2019. I had zero prob lems with it. Could not say the same with my toyota camry. The ac broke at 3years and 2 months. None of my 8 Nissans ever had a problem

The 2018 model has power buttons to raise the 2nd row seats. They are now gone. Actually my 2012 Murano SL had the power rear seats.

My mom would have waited for the 2019/20 murano but she needed a new car quickly so she got a 2018 Nissan Murano Platinum
She should’ve got something else her transmission will shit the bed before it reaches 100k miles.

Ok, it is missing a Heads up display, 360 degree camera, blind spot cameras, self parking, and couple other lives of tech
The only "update"i heard was the smooth leather steering wheel. Sorry if I missed the others
The biggest one was the advanced safety features being on most of the trims now instead of just Platinum

Verry nice but also verry expensive lol..i drive a 2006 murano and not a single problem with it as yet despite what people say..like anything els if u dont look after it it wont last..ive just changed the looks on mine a lill and i love my murano and wuddnt swop it for any other suv..so for those who wanna buy a good suv..go for it..they are verry reliable deffo..though mine was built in japan i dunno bout these as they not just nissan anymore..mine still has lotsa Datsun in it and put together the way Datsun used to do it..naa ill stick to my one thanx 😂✌

Stay away from CVT transmission, Nissan knows of the issue it has but does not do anything to correct it.
This car is out dated and it's need total redesign and the platinum trim over 50 crand to expansive for an old outdated suv.

No doubt... my biggest complaint for the last 3 - 4 years. All the vehicles that have been redone by Nissan, and they all have the new style steering wheel, yet they keep missing this one.

Murano owner here. Stay away from the car. Nothing but problems. Can’t even drive 3 months without mechanic.....

Thats odd. I ownrd a 2012 Murano SL until 2019. I had zero prob lems with it. Could not say the same with my toyota camry. The ac broke at 3years and 2 months. None of my 8 Nissans ever had a problem
My 2003 camry AC went out at 53000 miles. Not covered by warranty. Previously owned 3 nissan maximas and went over 120000 miles no issue.
