Sold my 400ex for a 450r and it was a giant mistake. As far as woods riding and technical trails the 450 did not like being lugged. Got another 400ex and will never go back.
just got back from local dealer. None In stock. and the only quads coming soon are a 2021 $11,968 out the door and a 2022 $12,822 out the door. (both brand new) How did you get a 2023?
I've never rode a raptor 700 but I've heard they're better for trailer riding if that's primarily what you're gonna do with it mainly because the chassis is a little longer and I believe a little better ground clearance
When goin from any other bike raptor 700 400ex idc what Honda 450 when goin to the Yfz450r on wheelies it’s different i wheelie everyday and was like wtf when I got on it took me two or 3 tries before I got to the balance point it’s so jerky 😂😂
I got the same one I was wondering if it is normal for the stock exhaust to turn bright orange where it comes out the head after riding it for fifteen minutes at slow speed still trying to break it in
As far as I know yes, mine glows red still and I have about an hour total on mine, mine seems to usually glow red for a while at first then goes back to normal
@@Itsjustacoyotee thanks for getting back to me I appreciate it I live in Maine we have snow on the ground so I won’t be doing much riding but can’t wait for spring want to ride it so bad again thank you for getting back to me 👍🏻
@Lennie Dow no problem! We have a bunch of snow here in Wisconsin too lol We just got hit with a huge snow storm last week and now we're supposed to get another at the end of this week... not ideal for sport quads lol
Exhaust, Tuned ecu (vortex ecu), and a fuel customs intake. It's the 2 big mods everyone does to really wake up the YFZ and give them a bunch more power
Thanks for the video dude I'm from PA and I'm picking mine up in the morning! Super pumped quick question tho....had a couple quads none brand new what's the 15 minute heat cycles?
Awesome man! You're gonna love it! The 15 minute heat cycle is just a different way of breaking in the engine. To break mine in I did three 15 minute heat cycles, getting the engine fully up to temp and then letting it cool down completely each time (overnight). The first cycle I stayed 1/2 throttle and under but make sure you vary the throttle position and don't hold a steady rpm. For the 2nd and 3rd cycle I brought it up to about 1/2-3/4 throttle. After the 3rd cycle it should be ready to fully rip! This is just the way I broke mine in! The 4th time I rode it, I then went full throttle a couple times but you should avoid holding it wide open for long periods of time until you get a few hours on the machine. You can also follow the manufacture's way in the manual.
Here is a link on more info for breaking in an engine, this is just another way it can be done. Everyone has their preference on how it should be done, I feel that just making sure it gets some heat into everything and letting it cool down a few times is good. www.partzilla.com/blog/how-to-break-in-rebuilt-engine
I've been doing research most the night on these and I saw a couple of pages mentioning that 15 heat cycle. Haven't decided what I'll do yet. Have a couple buddy's who race quads and bikes might ask them. Have you rode it much since you made the video? I'm literally counting the hours until pick up at this point 😂
@@MichaelClark-ol1pn that's what I did too! Biggest reason I did the 3 - 15 min heat cycles is because I'm to impatient to do the full 15hr break in period suggested by yamaha 😂 and I haven't riden it at all since the video unfortunately, the weather here in Wisconsin has been terrible 😂
No shit my man.......im probably one of the most impatient people ever lol I want to do it right though so I don't just piss money away 😂😂 yeah it's supposed to rain here tomorrow but Sunday should be nice for a little cruise
It was tough to find one! Had to drive 3.5 hours to get this one lol I haven't riden it a ton yet to really feel out the wheelies but it wheelies in 1st and 2nd gear with no issue! Most of the wheelies in the video were slow ones in 1st gear
Hey I’m going to buy this same quad, is there any difference with the special edition, or the blue 450R I’m going from a Trx450 to a YFZ also what does the Big 3 mean?
I have never riden a raptor but I heard they are I think 2 Inches longer. I lot of people love the raptor and honestly the only reason I went with the 450 is because I'm an aggressive rider that loves a lot of rpm which is where the 450 is happy, the raptor is more low end torque. Watch some comparison videos on the 2! I watched a lot before I bought mine!
Full exhaust of your choice, Fuel Customs Intake, and Vortex ECU or some type of fuel tuning. These machines run lean from factory and in my opinion kinda run like poop.... with these mods (The big 3) your Raptor will have better throttle response, more power, and just all out run better. My 2023 YFZ bogged and hesitated when I'd hit the throttle but now with the big 3 it doesn't! On the YFZ with my set up it adds right around 10whp.. I'm not sure what the power gains are on the Raptor but I'm sure it'd be noticeable! Mine was night and day better! I just uploaded a video with The Big 3 Installed and riding it
The chassis just wasn't comfortable for me, it always felt super heavy. I think maybe setting it up a little different would have help.. maybe taller steering stem or bars? Different shocks? It just felt way heavier than any other machine I rode for some reason.. but it definitely made me a better rider because that's the quad I got really good at doing wheelies on
people say money can’t buy happiness-> but this quad❤
I'm glad i found this video, not much people upload videos about quads
I've noticed that! I'm gonna try uploading a bunch of videos about quads for sure!
#quadlife
I just bought the 2025 YFZ450SE, and i will admit, this color scheme is beast.
Sold my 400ex for a 450r and it was a giant mistake. As far as woods riding and technical trails the 450 did not like being lugged. Got another 400ex and will never go back.
Ha! I owned a 400ex for years, not even in the same ball park
@yoteslayer77 Captain obvious everyone. You mean a 450 is faster than a 400, wow, thanks for missing the point.
Watching this cause my brother just got coked up and dropped 5k down payment on one of these LOL. Pickin it up next week gotta see was happenin

We have one at our store up in Maine. She's purty!
The colors just look so good!
Good video make sure you get the clutch basket from Bnr Motorsports
Would you rather the yzf450 or the 700 raptor for trail riding and power comfort?
I've never rode a raptor 700 but I've heard they're better for trailer riding if that's primarily what you're gonna do with it mainly because the chassis is a little longer and I believe a little better ground clearance
The raptor has way more ground clearance. When I got mine someone was picking up the 700 at same time side by side you can really tell the difference

I noticed these got a weird balance point. my longest wheelie was on my 400ex. had a kfx450 and it was alot harder to balance
The 23’s are so nice lucky u found one😂 but what gear do u wheelie in?

The front bumper and appearance colors are the only differences. Big 3 is Exhaust, Intake, and Fuel Programmer/or Aftermarket Ecu
What's the big Three?
Does yours bog at all just got a 2024 today and bogs a little low rpm
I like the 450rs but I am around 6’2 and was wondering if you knew someone my height could fit on one or if a raptor 700 would be a better choice

Yup definitely needs an oil change! Lol Just found the full vid. And just subbed. 🦾
Thanks for the sub man!!
Sad they only currently make 2 new sport atvs raptor 660 and the 450r
How much hp gain with the big 3
Do you know where to get that front bumper
It's factory
i dont understand why you never liked the ltr i love mine but i do have a lot of money into mine

super rare find! Cant find any of the 2022 nevermind 2023
Use Yamaha's dealer inventory search.. that's what I had to do because every dealer I called prior couldn't even order one for me
Definitely needs an exhaust
You got that right! First time I started it I said "yeah that's gonna have to change" lol so I already have one ordered 😂
Watchout with that clutch basket or it will explode on you.
I've heard this a couple times now... thinking it may be a good idea to upgrade it soon before I start riding super hard lol
@@Itsjustacoyotee do it now. You are on borrowed time. POOR DESIGN. Will leave you stranded. Ask me how I know.
@@erre6914 I better look into getting one ordered then!
