For all reharmonisation chords for all 12 notes, please see here: docs.google.co...
Click below to jump ahead to:
    6:17 - 7th chords
    7:01 - Extending Chords
    8:22 - Altering Chords
    12:12 - Passing Chords
    13:56 - Reharmonisation
Ever wondered how to make a song sound jazzy? Well, in this Jazz Piano Tutorial I explain how you can turn any song into a jazz song by using a number of techniques, including reharmonisation.
Reharmonisation is essentially just a fancy word for chord substitution, but it involves substituting a whole chord progression rather than an individual chord. In this video I give you the general rules and underlying theory of how and why chord substitutions work and give you tips on which chords to choose. This way you can choose your own chords when reharmonising a song, rather than relying on standard and often overused chord substitutions which don't always work.
    These techniques include:
    Playing 7th Chords
    Extending the Chords Further
    Altering the Chords
    Choosing appropriate Chord Voicings
    Reharmonisation
    Embellishing the melody
Applying each of these allows you to jazz up a song, and each technique gives you differing levels of jazziness. From barely jazzy (extending chords) to very jazzy (reharmonisation).
But by using and combining the above techniques you can turn literally any song, whether it be pop, classical, country, whatever, into a jazz song (or at least a jazzy sounding song).

@@cosmblus No because 50 and 60% are equivalent to 0.50 and 0.60 respectively (the zeros at the end are optional). And then you can round 0.5 and 0.6 up to the nearest hundredth. You would get a 1.0 (again zero is optional) if you multiply it by 100 you would get 100%.
      Boom math.

Just learning my chords (I'm 67) as I am a big standard jazz fan and although I understand what you are saying, it's just too much for me to comprehend and implement as I would be 150 years before I had learned it all. However I did glean some jewels from it that I can implement and to that I am grateful to you. You are obviously a very knowledgable and talented guy and I will peruse your other videos to see if I can further my studies. Thank you.

      Hi Long,
As I mentioned in my last answer, apologies for the late response again. Only got back from my holiday a couple of days ago.
haha, you're far too kind, but I appreciate the hyperbole :)
Yeah, I'm in Melbourne too. Shoot me a private message and I'll give you my email and we can organise something, if you like.

I made it to the end !!!
Resume : Take key melody note, play it over any bass note, fill in between !!! (Make your bassline structured, it has to go somewhere)
