@@zacharycossey4998 ehh, I mean I've been watching Marty for 10 years at least, not as much nowadays but what I can say about his lessons, although he's a great player and teacher, he doesn't teach or play accurate representations of the songs he's teaching. He teaches his version of songs, axe of creations is spot on and the only channel I watch for tool lessons,he breaks it down in a way I can actually get it pretty quickly compared to others
This might be the best explained and thorough guitar tutorial I've ever seen. To the point. Notes on style and timing. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Dude you are the best teacher Ive ever had. I wanna thank you for all your Tool videos. Im a self taught guitar player that started again playing after a 20 year gap. over a year and a half and making huge progress just playing and learning Tool You are the only guy I watch. Thanks Man.
Man, thank you for the work you put into these vids. I've learned so much from your channel. Love your straightforward teaching style. One of the best i've come across. It's amazing to be able to finally play songs from your favorite band! Keep up the great work!
I was pretty confident with my knowledge of this song, but your lesson has really added to it. Especially how you slide during the beginning riff with your 3rd finger, really adds to the song. Cheers mate.
These are the best lessons on youtube by far. Ever sense i got my Diezel VH4 pedal my Les Paul sounds awesome with these riffs. Great job not messing around with the small stuff and keeping the lessons interesting. As you said, Adam's variations are endless he even plays them differently live each time. I love the way you explain the time signatures as this is one of the most difficult things for me to master. Thanks a million for you help and keep up the great work.
We missed you! Awesome breakdown, you made it real easy to understand the rhythm! You had mentioned that the 11\4 is a 3+3+3+2 feel, and that later the meter changes once to a bar of 3 and two bars of 4. 3+4+4 is also an additive rhythm adding up to 11. Them Tool guys is sneaky!!
Thanks my man! Nice catch too. I probably should have mentioned that (it still adds up to eleven). It's just a lot easier for me to count/feel the 3+3+3+2 that when the 3+4+4 kicks in, it feels very different. 4 never felt so long!
axeofcreation Like I said before, you are a great teacher! I love how you throw some theory in your lessons instead of just explaining "how to play it". I also like how you talk about the style of the guitarist and the time signatures used. Odd time signatures of 11, 13, 17 for example can be frustrating to play or "feel". But quite often they are written based on fragments added or "pieced" together. Dream Theater and Tesseract appear to use this frequently.
Thank you! Your instructions are extremely helpful. As some have stated already it's very neat how you mention the theory as you teach the song, since some of us don't have any education in that area.
Great videos! All of them...Very easy to get a hold of the song...you're a great teacher... But...Where's the play through! They really pull it all together for me, I miss them :(
Man, let me just say I love your lessons/covers. Thanks a lot for making them. I wouldn't be able to live without Tool songs right now, but your lessons let me not just listen to them, but also play them myself! (I wish I could speak English better)
I've been working so hard on this song. This video has helped me tremendously. This is hands down my favourite Tool song, from that dark sounding intro riff to the intense lyrics. I owe you big time for the help you've given me with this. PS my vote would have been for Tool Time/Tool Time Tuesdays
Thank you so much for all your hard work and time to teach us the epicness that is Tool. I've watched many videos of yours and you have a gift for teaching us scrubs the amazing sound of Tool!
hey man. i love all of your tool lessons and they are so helpful. i wanted to ask if you can do a lesson on third eye next because i am starting a band and we wanted to learn and play that song first.
Another great video! Thank you for making music theory so much more approachable and less daunting. Would it be possible to make a video showing your tips and tricks for learning guitar parts by ear?
This is an eye opener for me, I thought the first time you hit the 7th fret on the d string you're supposed to slide to the 8th fret, but going to the 10th fret and holding the note sounds so much better!
Really digging this lesson Greg! Just need to work out what you're doing with that (vibrato??) on the 10th fret in the intro riff. I think this is a good one for a beginner like me to get your teeth in and as usual, you explain it so clearly. Thanks mate!
He reached out to me a couple years ago, thanked me, and gave me tickets/backstage passes. I got to meet him, Danny, and Justin. That's more than I ever imagined, and more than good enough for me. He's a great dude.
Idk if I picked the best or worst song to start playing guitar lol, I just figured out how to palm mute, now harmonics damn, much to learn I still have.
I see you have a two notes...would you recommend getting that to use with a tube head or just getting an AXE-FX? I don't know what would be better. An AXE-FX would be more versatile but maybe more expensive. Thanks for all of your great vids!
axe, your Tool videos are fantastic and I have learnt most of them well through your lessons. However, it is a bit of a shame that you don't talk much about your rig set up.. What software, how to get the right tone/sound, what delay settings and other effects? You seem to have the intro sound spot on & I don't really know how to get that using what I have available. I use amplitube 3 so there is lots to play around with in terms of amps, cabs, and effects pedals. Anyway, just a suggestion! Cheers.
+scareneb I no longer have the VGS, hence the fender. I'll probably make a video about it at some point. The issue is I'm always using something different. The older Tool lesson is the POD Pro. I use Bias and the Positive Grid software a lot. It would probably be a more "in general" kind of explanation.
Hello! This is exactly what I needed. I am coming over from playing a ukulele and this video made me feel like there’s hope. I do have a question; my 17 and 5 on the low D don’t sound anything like yours. All other notes sound right except those two. Is that something in my amp setup? Speaking of amp setup, what would you recommend for this son as far as amp and effects? Thanks again and looking forward to getting this under my belt.
Hey axe. I cant find your part 2 for this. I love the first part it sounds amazing with some distortion. Did you or TH-cam take off the part 2 after the break down. No one else has tabs i like so im trying to get your video.
Hey man! I'm a huge TOOL fan and I can play all of their songs, this one being one of my all time favorites! But can you tell me how you get Adams tone? This video was dead on! I have an Digitech rp90 processor, and in it, I'm using a messa boogie model 01 4x12 cabinet, because I know Adam uses a model. But there was also a Marshall 75 model 4x12. Which one should I use? Or does it matter? Thanx
I don't get "harmonic," I understand that you place your finger on the metal of the fret but I don't know why you immediately remove your finger yet still get a sound.
I guess you can say you divided the video right In two. I'm here all night guys
Kalim Manigault LMAO!
aced it XD
you are 6 1/2 seconds off mate
hah
LOL! COMEDY
This song is full of perfectly placed nuances which Adam Jones is notorious for. It's not overly complicated but it really is ingenious.
You're like the only guy who teaches tool. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
When there's no one, there ultimate-guitar and GuitarPro, and set of ears :D
Yeah he's a very good teacher!!!
There is also marty music and lee john blackmore Whido this kind of thing but this is the only teacher that right in to.

Carl Brown at GuitarLesson365 has a few really good Tool lessons
Man I've learned so much from these videos. plugged alot of gaps of understanding with me not having any real training in music
Best teacher I've found NO EGO, no nonsense. Fantastic
You’re an excellent instructor! I’m very new to guitar and started playing cause I want to play tool and this is really helpful! Thank you

you're the most I enjoy learning. Congrats from 🇪🇸
I'm about to learn one of my favourite Tool song. Thank you for this tutorial. You explain it perfectly.
PART TWOOOOOO! PLEASE! YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON I CAN UNDERSTAND IN THE TOOL TUTORIAL WORLD!
Did anybody notice that he split the lesson into two parts...so he literally divided it Right in Two....
justinfuzzyhat Right in two ! 👍🏼
Go away lol
Incredibly clear and concise tutorial, thanks a lot man!
I was pretty confident with my knowledge of this song, but your lesson has really added to it. Especially how you slide during the beginning riff with your 3rd finger, really adds to the song. Cheers mate.
Excellent tutorial! Def one of my favorites from Tool. I can’t seem to get down the A and G string harmonics part during the verse rift.

janken919 Agreed. I think about it in that fragmented sense but am able to see (hear?) it in the macro, larger phrase sense.
Hell Fucking Yeahh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for you to post forever
You're just too good man, seriously. Massive kudos as always for the work you put in. Best Tool lessons out there.
+mah0ne1 Thank you for your kind words, on both parts.
Dude, you're a great person. Thanks for every video you've made.
Man thank you for this! you expanations are so easy to understand especially for us play by ear guys! its all about sections
and parts!
wow - just discovered this channel. It is amazing, great sound and explaining! Definitely going to check out more.
Great seeing a strat being used for a Tool song. Seal of approval.
You're the best guitar teacher I've ever seen
Thank you! Your instructions are extremely helpful. As some have stated already it's very neat how you mention the theory as you teach the song, since some of us don't have any education in that area.
So dope. Epic timeless song. Great teacher.
This is such a good tutorial! Nice job man, and thank you.
Hell yeah dude you gotta do Third Eye. In the name of all things holy, please teach us Third Eye next.
I would give my soul to get that sound from my equipment! Just amazing! As always best on youtube!
Great lesson. FYI, those bends from the “2nd guitar” you mentioned are actually the bass player playing through a bass whammy pedal. Pretty cool.
Dude I just wanna say wow these videos really help me learn tool song. They've always been a little hard for me to play.
Can't believe I only just realized this song was here :D one of my all time favorite Tool songs along with Lateralus , 10000 days and Aenima
was completely lost on this song till i found this vid , nice tips too - many thanks
Great videos! All of them...Very easy to get a hold of the song...you're a great teacher... But...Where's the play through! They really pull it all together for me, I miss them :(

i love all your vids.. they have been a great help for me to learn my fav TOOL songs

Man, you nail Adam's tone and effects.
Nice btbam shirt! I'd love to see a lesson video for one of their songs or Paul Waggoner's style of playing.
Thank you. Very much appreciated.
Amazing analysis and tutorial!
Thank you!
Awesome lesson by the way
Just got the tabs thanks for the lesson 👍

Great breakdown. Thank you! If you were to use a DI (like Guitar Rig 7 for example) what setup would you utilize?
This was great, thank you.
Awesome dude - thanks for this!
Thanks for the inspiration bud good video.
thanks mate!
this was really helpful!
Adam Jones should send you a guitar, you put so much effort into this. Thanks!!

Thanks ! Best Tool lessons !
You are amazing my friend
Great video as usual. Can you make some videos for songs on their undertow album? Like bottom, undertow of 4 degrees. Thanks keep up the good work.
Undertow would be fun.
This is the reason i subscribed to your channel, learn to play tool!
I always got the impression when listening to the album that the "secondary" guitar parts weren't overdubs, but rather that he was using a loop pedal
+Skycake Music I highly doubt that.
hey mate awesome stuff pal!! just can't find the tabs as the website seems to be shut down?
Spot on, thanks mate
Lol what were u saying at 8:00? and great video btw you explained how to play it really well :)
"Back to that" talking about switching back to the previous riff

You lightly place your finger above the fret itself. To press down, just lightly touch the string.
I see, just figured it out, awesome, thank you!
Isn't the bend you talk about as a secondary guitar the bass line with a pedal effect
I'm confused. I have a 9/16 offset box end. Thought it would make my shit tight.
so simple yet so beautiful. effin-a, adam jones!
How do you get your guitar sound like jones? Ive spend hours on my boss katana and cant find right settings..
I have boss katana and there is a patch for Right in Two, on this page from facebook: facebook.com/groups/2098357327092217/permalink/2573653882895890/

What effect for this song? Are you using delay?
