    Hello GP Been learning right along side you on the B2601. I notice you get that bone chilling cold as we do in Wisconsin. I see you getting all bundled up to stay warm. When I go to play in the snow I put on a heated thermostatically controlled jacket, pants, and gloves. made by Gerbing. I've used it for years when riding my bike in cooler climates. Just turn up the thermostat and stay warm. It plugs right into my tractor. Keep the videos coming. Cheers

      Hey good morning Will and glad to have you along for the adventure! I have never heard of that. I will look up Gerbing and check it out. A few folks have suggested that I pick up a heated seat cushion and plug it in but the only ones I can find here locally are only rated to be inside and not to be used in wet outdoor conditions. Thanks for the tip! All the best!

    It sounded like the rear blower put no strain on the tractor at all. I just bough a HLA snow pusher for my tractor and has done very well, but we just got a 12" snow storm and i wasn't home during it so i couldn't clear the snow as it was coming down. Ended up having to clear a 200ft driveway with the bucket. Took about 2hrs to do. Was thinking of getting a rear blower. Thanks for the video.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good morning Woody. Boy, that's a long way to clear. You are right. The rear blower never causes the rpm's to drop compared to the front mount for sure during my uses of it. The other nice thing about the rear is you get to keep your FEL. Cheers and good luck with the decision.

  • @FrostyTheBeerMan

    Morning Gord ! wow, that power of that rear snowblower attachment is insane. ( I'm talking about that snowbank in the first 2 minutes into the video - the one on the main road ) Try doing that with a regular snowblower you push by hand, I don't care how big the model, it won't even touch those compact snowbanks... compact snow turned to partial ice.... nope, you'll damage the typical snowblower. ( the one you push I mean ) Anyway, coffee in hand, good morning and I'll continue watching ! 🎅 P.S. in that first 2 minutes... you can see the rear snowblower is much stronger than the front, then you back away with the camera, and wow, the one in the back is huge ! wow

    Wow! Another great video and lots more snow to clear for you and Guy. I can’t believe you AND your neighbour go out at -26° to play with your tractors! (And take the time to set up your cameras! In Nova Scotia it was plus 8° C yesterday (melted all our snow again) and it went down to -6 C today and we’re all like “oooooh, it’s so cold!” The polar vortex is not affecting us and if anything the jet stream has been located in such a way that it has been warmer than normal this winter. We usually would have a fair amount of snow on the ground and at least some days where the temps dip to -20 or sometimes more. My new tractor is getting an easy first winter for sure! Also, how many feet or km of driveway do you actually have?? 😁

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good morning Andrew. LOL. Well I got to get out there - warm or cold. :)) Lots of warm clothes. Yes, funny winter here too. Usually at this time of the year , I have a good 4 feet of accumulation but it has been similar to yours I think. The driveway is cut through the forest and is about 1.4 kms long. Hills, bends and all. No shoulders or anything so no where to plow snowbanks which is why I had to get a blower. Thanks for checking in and for watching. All the best to you Andrew!

    GP I noted you have a lot for snow stuck on both your front and rear blower. The snow at the bottom of the snow bank is "insulated" from the cold and is yet sticky snow from previous warm and rainy days. When it meets the very cold metal of the snow blower, it freezes on it... Not so convenient! This is why I prefer constant cold weather in winter! Thanks for sharing GP!

      @@GPOutdoors Have you tried to spray on a good coat of silicone before you start out? I find with my walk behind blower a quick spray of silicone on the auger the impeller and the discharge chute helps to keep the build up to a minimum while it helps the snow to keep moving, Just a suggestion.

    Greetings again Gord, just started # 131 and what a pleasant surprise, I know you did that for me. Thank you kindly!! I believe your front blower had the edge on that snow bank. I have to say that I am very jealous of all the snow you are getting, here in East Uniacke, Nova Scotia bare ground, not getting a lot of seat time on my B7510. Thanks Again, Later

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good evening Lee. Yes indeed. Glad it was helpful. Sorry I had responded earlier to your comment on #130 by accident. LOL. Yes, we got some snow last week but it has all turned to ice now and no real snow expected for a while again. I have to say, on the roadside snowbanks, I'd have to give it to the rear blower. It ate right through the bank and remained flat on the ground but I noticed the front blower started straining the engine and began to ride up on the bank as I went through it. They both blew a far way - I think the front blew it further though. Hope it was helpful and stay warm!

  • @au2183

    Speaking of having good neighbors. I used to have one down below me as we oftentimes through the years worked together on the section of town road I live on keeping it completely opened up all winter long, ( 1 mile stretch ). Locals were able to utilize it year round. That is until things began disappearing from my garage (10) years back now & continued right up to a couple years ago, sadly. This past June I finally confronted him about this based on circumstantial but quite compelling evidence. Sadly, he will never own up to it. The guy is 80 years old & it saddens me it ever came to this, for I have lost a friend of 20 years as a result...
    Helping each other out came naturally, without the other expecting anything in return. Thievery, forever altered that relationship... :~(

    Dang GP, my neck is still hurting. I used to blade backwards with the first B7100 for hours on end. But I was 36 years younger too. I just couldn't do it for an extended period today. Does your rear pto have multiple speed selector ? Another great video showing how nice it is to have good relationships with the neighbors !

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good morning T44! LOL. No, the PTO just runs off the tractor at one speed - unless, I reduce the throttle of course. Thanks for watching and for saying hi!

    • @tractorman4461
      @tractorman4461 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just wondering. Because my 7100 has three speeds. 540, 1050 and 1500 on the pto. Sometimes I run the card with the saw in second speed and it really sends the blade flying. Actually too fast for the rated RPM of that antique saw.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good evening Chef. Thanks for the question. No I don't think it is a waste of money but part of the decision has a lot to do with what you plan to do with the tractor. I purposely did not get one because of the things I do with it. (in the summer I am glad I don't have one but in the winters I wish I did). In the summers I use it a lot in the forest and wanted the narrow footprint ( without a cab) to maneuver more easily through the trees etc. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!

    That looked pretty neat with the 2 tractors working together. I’ve got a big blower on the back of my 55 horse kioti. Although it would be easier on the neck having a front mount blower, I wouldn’t use it enough to justify not having a loader. • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good morning Henry. Yes that blower is a beast. I have only used it a few times now but it chews into anything so far but never strains the engine. When you use the front blower, you can hear the tractor engine starting to slow when you dig into deeper piles but the rear just pushes through. Re: the snowmobiles. Yes - it is private property but the main snowmobile trail is at the end of my lake and there is no easy way to get to it for the folks north of me except to go through my driveway and across the lake. Been doing it for years. Last weekend I counted more than 125 of them going through ( now you know why I use my hazard lights on my own driveway. LOL). I don't mind. Many folks are kind enough to stop in and ask if it is ok, so I get to meet them and so far, never any damage or anything. Thanks for saying hi!

  • @Sean_Hartley
    @Sean_Hartley 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's quite the dynamic duo. GP how was blowing snow backwards for you? Curious to hear your opinion since you have such a long driveway.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey good morning Sean. Thanks for asking. That thing is a beast. Handles bigger capacity than the front blower for sure. You probably noticed when blowing the side of the road it stayed on the ground and kept chewing away at ground level whereas the front blower did great but it weighs less and starting to ride up on the hard icy base. I have also noticed that my engine rpms never drop using the rear but it does when you start to eat too much with the front. All said, doing short distances is not a problem but on a long driveway, my back and neck definitely felt it. It's not easy being twisted backwards for long periods of time - at least not at my age LOL. Geez, that sounded old eh? . A few folks suggested that they use plows/bucket on the front and a rear blower setup, and for a normal driveway I think that makes a lot of sense - financially as well, since the rear is so much cheaper. However I don't have anywhere to push snow so for me, and this tight mile long driveway, the front with a blade on the back is my preferred setup. If I had a normal driveway or parking area, I would certainly want to keep my FEL on the front for the winter and would go with the rear blower. Appreciate you asking Sean. Have a good one and thanks for all your support, as always. Cheers!

      GP Outdoors I thought you might say that! I’m looking at about a 700 foot driveway and I’m really on the fence. I’ve got to get something this spring and in the spring/summer/fall I’m usually thinking open station. As soon as winter hits, I quickly “warm up” to the idea of a cab!
      I’ve got a lot of forest, like you, which gives me a bit of concern about a cab, but I think I could just widen the trails and enjoy the A/C on those 35 degree summer days. In my darkest hours I think I should get both! When’s the next Lotto Max draw...?

Y'all have to create a catchy team name like Loral & Hardy, Starsky & Hutch, Penn & Teller, Lone Ranger & Tonto. Or maybe Snow Blower Demons, Dark Roast Bandits or Snow Drift Annihilators? Something legendary where us youtuber's have to tune in each episode, and see how much yáll got done.

      LOL MNP! That is too funny and made me just about fall off my chair. His name is Guy. Seriously. And one great neighbour to have. But I like the idea of the catchy team name. I'll have to give that some more thought. Thanks again for making me laugh. Priceless. Cheers and have an awesome week!

    Hi Gord,This is what I referred to in my other post, could you imagine trying to get through this stuff with an inverted blower? It would be impossible, unless it was a big tractor ;-)

    OK, now I know what missing from this picture, your driveway is so long you could legally build a Tim Hortons and a gas station, maybe a Kubota dealership ;-)

      Good morning Michel! LOL. Now, a Tim's at the end would be a welcome pit stop. Have a great weekend!

    So, how's the contortionist body working out for you? Ever get frozen in one spot doing it? I'd need a full cab with a camera behind me watching it. It'd be cheaper to put a blower on the front. With degenerative disc disease, a stroke, and on blood thinners, you couldn't pay me enough to have that gaudy blower on the back. My personal preference. Other than that 🤔🤔🤔

      Good morning Tomas. I think the front is the way to go for you. I am enjoying trying it out though. It's nice to be able to try different types of equipment to see how they work. Have a great day, be well and thanks for watching as always!
