"Ophelia's Wrath?" High wind and rain, the region has seen worse N'oreasters. People were out and about, doing their daily routines. Hell, my wife and I were in the Ghent community. We live in Virginia Beach, near Back Bay Wildlife refuge, and False Cape. Stop making this worse that what it was.

This is too funny. I was in the outer Banks and it was nothing but some wind and rain. We are used to this in eastern North Carolina and Virginia. Just another day at the office while these idiots hype it up

Norfolk is "slowly coming back?" If we're talking about wind speeds, we've had far worse damage from random thunderstorms than Ophelia. The low lying areas that always flood during storms may have flooded, but that's just part of living below sea level with water surrounding you on all sides.

I'm confused. How long ago did Ophelia come ashore? Years? Months? Days? Hours?

Nope...this storm was devastating...there's no coming back from that. Climate change...am I right? The united states navy is decimated and crippled...they could not handle such a ferocious storm.

From Norfolk/ VA Beach originally. It floods on a regular basis, perhaps more so with Ophelia, of course, but it’s no surprise. The city is at sea level. What would one expect?! Natives know the areas that flood, and they know how to deal with it. This is a non-story. They will dry out and life will continue. To my knowledge no one died, thanks be to God. But flooding comes with living on the water’s edge. The Chesapeake Bay is on one side, the Atlantic Ocean on the other, and the Elizabeth River on another, just to round things out. In fact during tropical storms and hurricanes ( or just a good ol’ nor’easter) it’s surprising when things don’t flood. And with the exception of Mt Trashmore, the area is totally and completely flat. While I don’t want to minimize true suffering as a result of flooding, it’s common sense to know flooding will occur sometimes in this area. This is not a great revelation. In fact, this story is “much ado about nothing.”

Did she say 50 mph winds? That is normal up here on Puget Sound in the winter.
I kept waiting to see if I'd hear the words "climate change." I was clicking out if I did.

Meh, not bad as Isabel back in 2003. Did the Mid-town tunnel flood again? Took VDOT over a month to pump the water out, and repair the tunnel.

Norfolk floods regularly. Low areas are prone to flooding, DUH.

These kind of storms can worsen and prolong flooding, though. And while it probably wasn't the case here, sea level rise and erosion can increase the risk of flooding in previously low risk areas.

Can the Fox Weather Meteorologists get through a full day or 24 hours without using their repetitious phrase, "In terms of"? I doubt it but it sure is annoying.

Lol, soooo true!!! What years were you in Norfolk? Wonder if we know each other? Lived both in Norfolk and Va Beach growing up. Went to ODU. Family goes back generations in Norfolk area after moving up from Hatteras circa early 1800s. If you grew up there, do you have a bit of the brogue? It’s fast disappearing. Someone accused me of not having a southern accent. And also asked why was I trying to imitate a British accent or one like maritime Canada! Had to explain the brogue and that southern accents are different from region to region. Guy thought all southerners sounded like Scarlett O’Hara. He was a Yankee, 🤭😂🤣!
