I only have a few more weeks until I get my farm I am impatiently waiting for the old man to move out 15 acres of land 13 is cleared completely has a 2 bedroom house barn is bigger then the house also has a shed and shop I'm going to have to get a couple fast growing shade trees not many on the property
Hi! Great video. I love my Kunekunes and I never thought of letting them clear my land! I've been doing it manually and making it all perfect before I move the pigs into a paddock 🤦♀️. How do you get water to them? Thats my only issue I haven't solved for
We have an ibc tote that we use that has plumbing to a hose and we get their water that way. We are currently working on a ram pump as well. The ram pump will take water from the creek down the field to the top field in our land. Sorry for the delay in response.
Do you guys just let your boars run with the sows 24/7? How many litters of piglets do you guys get per year? Do your boars eat the piglets when they're born? Also, have you eaten any of them? If so, were they tasty compared to regular pork? Sorry for all the questions, I'm very interested in getting some but my bf is a hardcore farmer and says they have to have a purpose other than being cute lol.
Kunekune's are a heritage breed and many people use them for pork production. They have a very sweet taste and lots of people say they are the best tasting out of all the breeds. Where are you guys located? Check me out @halbertfarm I can answer questions too.
We do let the boars stay with them. We have not had boars eat the babies. We recently took over this herd so we have not had litters yet but it looks like we will be having them in the near future our sows are filling out. We have had a few processed and we like the meat. The chops were much smaller than my customers like so I won't be getting rid of our large blacks anytime soon. They made good sausage and roasts though as I have some customers that like smaller roasts.
Let's be TH-cam friends....I love my pet pig too...mine is a Juliana pig.....she is so smart.... I am going to subscribe....look at my beautiful pig...
They are so cute, and looks like a bit spoiled too.
They are so cute....the little baby ones.....darling...they do a good job...
Very well trained and well loved pigs! God Bless y'all
They are pretty good. I have a video showing one got out this weekend. We try to brag on them and then they do that..LOL
Great content! Thanks for sharing
How do you keep the smell down ?
Can you feed these pigs a round bail of hay if you don't have enough grass
how do you train them to an electric fence?
thanks 4 the info
do you have to worry about taint in the meat for year old boars that have not been castrated?
How do they lessen the impact of kunekune inbreeding? Besides culling and only picking the healthiest pigs to breed, are they at all hybridized?

I'd just connect hoses together and run it to their pen, but i guess during the winter that would be an issue.

How much did the fenceing cost you? I have a breeding pair of very young kunekunes coming soon and will be setting up a pasture for them
