- I continue my adventure through the long drive, with a selection of mods. Meaning i try to steal fuel and random parts from Ai cars all while not getting run over.

When Alex was messing around with the bus and getting fuel out of the cars I wondered how long it would take him to realise he left the hose behind. The sounds made while your character poops are horrendous, but very funny :)
As soon as it dropped off the oil can I knew he'd forget to pick it up
The whole time he was stuffing about with doors, I was thinking "Surely he's going to remember the syphon hose. You know, the one he's constantly looking at on the ground. The one that is imperative to stealing fuel." But then I remembered we were talking about Alex, so not only did he forget to pick it up, he ran it over when leaving the fuel station for added measure. Classic FailRace...
@@Fritty86 True, he starts messing around getting distracted and fails to a) collect items useful for survival and b) keeping an eye out for rabbits. Alex being Alex is a big part of FailRace though.
I'm now excited for the next episode of The Long Drive. That "I am screwed," is a great cliffhanger.

I was literally screaming "pick up the snake!!!!"
watched him walk past the snake on the floor so many times, then get back in the car, see the snake peeking at him through the windshield and felt a sense of doom.
I think we were *ALL* screaming that.
Later on it's still showing in his inventory...
As soon as you drove off I thought he's forgot the Syphon, bad things will happen. Lol. Keep this series coming.
One of these days he'll realize that using the binoculars increases the render distance, and items that render in will remain rendered as you approach them. Also, I really want to see a traffic car hit a rock full speed.
He knows, but he has his issues using them while driving. Bad things have happened in the past...
@@Timberwolf69 you're right, it's pretty dangerous. I typically use Q to back away from the windshield so they don't clip, but only while stopped or really slow.

I like how you forgot your "not a snake" after using it to steal gas from that station wagon. lol
BTW, when you want to remove the "not a snake" from something (like a jerrycan for example), you got to click on the end of the "not a snake" that is in the jerrycan or the car gas door thing.
Stuff don't seems to despawn, I did go back to vehicles I actually wanted a couple of times but needed to find parts for before taking them.
Also, with how rocks sometimes spawn, there's a mod to remove rock spawning in the middle of the road.
That works most the time, but an even better method I've found is to click on the snake, then switch to another inventory slot, it then teleports into your inventory.

Best cliff-hanger/fade to black I've experienced for a while, should be interesting to see what happens next
Alex if you want to avoid as much jank as possible while handling the siphon try to switch inventory slot when your character is grabbing it so that the snake went to your inventory. It even worked while it's attached to a container or a fuel tank with the lid closed so no need to disconnect it, just teleport it to your pocket.
If you want more loot, try the improved crates mod. The crates in buildings will break like a Christmas cracker leaving gifts.

Watching Alex play this game does make me wonder if he has some short term memory problems.
He leaves items behind, forgets to pick up items he wants and doesn't complete important tasks (like finishing siphoning the gas from the initial car, or closing oil/water/gas ports). Maybe not as bad a Laddo, but still...
And he drives as fast as he can then doesn't seem to understand why he has catastrophic crashes, lol.
Pretty sure he does all that for comedic effect, or he gets to much random events thrown at him he forgets
I think it can just be hard to remember things when you’re focused on providing commentary for everything you do!

Still, after all these years, of commentating while gaming, I'd think it'd be second nature by now. And he does admit that his preferred speed in any gaming car is As Fast As Possible, but there are consequences. Like losing all your coolant and oil... 😁

Its something called youtuber vision. Its a common phenomenon that makes youtubers blind as hell and miss things that are really obvious. Most of the time it isn't actually intentional.
It might be a good idea to dump the seats we aren’t using. Easier storeage and less weight
You can only remove the rear seat on a certain station wagon. I don't think he has that one. The rest of the seats are part of the car. I don't know about modded cars being different though.

I’ll be honest, anytime I have a long day at work or having a bad day, for you to play the long drive makes up my day! Thank you for continuing this series!
From what I remember, the AI's stop for the player, (Not vehicles) If you stand in front of a slow moving car or more preferably, a bus because they're always slow they'll stop for you and then you could hitch a ride with them until the next stop that has oil at least. Then you could hitch hike your way back to the your car and fill the oil. The coolant isn't as important because the engine will still run without it.

Running without coolant doesn't last long. Car overheats fast and takes a very long time to cool. I spent almost an hour pushing my car through the desert trying to find a source of fluid. Was when I got bored and drive into the desert instead of following the road.
@@mankypurple1206 If you're not on the gas the whole time, it shouldn't overheat as much.

Waiting for him to span back into the game to find the hatch and new tires disappear. Those car parts from a mod are temporary, they don't survive once your PC refreshes cache.
I dont get it like they'll still be there right unless he disables the mod or deletes it 🤔 or maybe dont refresh the cache? Or does he not have control over that

@@michaelb4415 it's the mod parts from that one particular mod. other mods don't have issues, just the one that creates traffic

I’m anxiously awaiting how this whole fuel consumption mod will work out. I’m ~1,300km into my long drive and haven’t seen any gas in the last few hundred km aside from 1 glass bottle in a restaurant. Might just be my seed but I think fuel spawn decreases.
AI cannot be killed by you. AI car cannot be claimed.
AI cars can de-spawn after saving. Leaving its head.
Head can be worn as a hat, and lights up like a torch
AI have different mods, aggressive, and Police cars.
AI can be used for a ride but you're only a passenger
AI parts stolen may vanish from your car after saves
Wood crates can be broken with mod or AK for parts
Physics Lock mod and Physics Gun are very useful
Two Fury's : yellow stripe but the white stripe's better
Turbo takes some speed to spool up, then Zooooom
When you were standing in the road with the bus and that car came along and scared the bejeezuz out of you, I laughed 😆 .
I already loved the long drive but these fuel and traffic mod add a lot more to the game
one sip was the oil, another one was the coolant... and there you go, straned :D
Maybe not the most important at the moment considering the circumstances, but the Fury had a slightly bigger engine.

That may be one of the greatest FR endings ever.
I guess he has at least a few options.
Option 1: Go back get the not a snake by walking and then walk/ find a new car to continue the journey. But walking limits your speed cargo and protection from rabbits. So you may die to hunger water rabbits or wild ai cars.
Option 2: place the diff like car doors jerrycans etc across the road in hopes that cars will turn up and crash to donate parts. However since it seems like you can’t drive the ai cars you’ll need to pilfer parts. However since you forgot the siphon, you won’t be able to get certain fluids like gas. Because of this the only thing that would help you is a two stroke since the fuel is already in the engine.
Option 3 wait for a bus
Option 4 wait for a car to hop in to transport you

Well id love to offer some helpful advice about the snake but it seems that's hardly the issue. Good luck and be sure I'm not saying that without laughing way too hard.
As bad as it sounds, this is what I wanted to see in this game. It felt too easy before. Can't wait for the next episode!
While sometimes I want more rabbits spawning or at least a difficulty curve depending on distance and/or biomes, I do love how the game keeps their occurrences completely random. I'd spend most of a vid seeing rabbits in the distance like no big deal, then out of nowhere Alex stops for two seconds only to turn around to see one sniffing his car...
When you take parts off A-I cars , they take them back when you reload your game!
Haha having a drink mid crash while flying through the air is quite a skill!
I must say, I’ve been watching FR for years. Videos are as entertaining at 24 as they were at 16 or so. Really speaks the quality of content he puts out
Alex you forgot to break the crates again! Also, if you're desperate for parts, then "camp" out near a large boulder in the middle of the road and steal fluids off of vehicles that wreck off the rock!

Alex you don't need a snake for the fuel, you can tilt the side of the other car towards the fuel can.
Given how he has died from a truck falling on him before, I don't think he'll be trying that any time soon.

The turbo mod actually makes the bus pretty good. i have a quad turbocharged bus that can do about 140 km/h. Hills are pretty easy in it too.

The best way to disconnect a snake is to select it, then switch to another inventory slot. The snake will disappear into your inventory, assuming you have an empty slot (you can't be holding anything else when you do this).

Safest and easiest way to retrieve the siphon is one you have picked up one end, switch to another item in your inventory such as the gun.
Also, use jerry cans for more than 3L and be sure they are upright.
Its tricky I know, the siphon is super glitchy.

What a day! Hopefully you can find a way to push forward from this unfortunate ending to an otherwise productive and joyfull day. It was going so great from finding other drivers to stealing people's car parts. I have to say I think that you brought this on yourself. You took advantage of a poor pumpkin involved in a horrible crash in the middle of nowhere. Instead of helping you reaped the benefits by stealing from others in a worse predicament than even you were in. As a result I chalk down your unfortunate ending to karma. Just kidding I probably would have stole the pumpkins stuff too! After all it is the apocalypse! Keep up the amazing content and have a great day!

Alex, hopefully you see this, and hopefully it works, but if you you’re using the AI Traffic Mod then press F11 to randomly spawn in a car. You may be able to grab an engine or other bits and pieces to put a functional car together to keep pressing onwards.

This is everything I wanted from the AI traffic mod. Delightful little crime spree.
Time to take the drive of shame and get the siphon back....
In this single episode he made all the worst rookie mistakes he avoided in vanilla lol.
*When you are so worried about gas you forget to fill everything else on your vehicle*
I have some tips for the future if you can somehow overcome you current predicament of no water and no oil. I guess you can steal the water and oil from another driver. That is the only way forward I think. Yes, but onto the tips:
1 you can find another not a snake in the garage on the floor at a diner or in the bottom of the garbage bin attached to the sign at a bus stop. See bus stops can be good for something!
2 Do be careful about what you steal from the other drivers. As we all know there is but 1 road in the long drive. Its not hard for someone to find you. As you can imagine the other drivers are not very happy if you steal from them and they have been known to "track you down" when you save and exit. (The parts may despawn when you save and exit and then reload in but it is more enjoyable to think that the other driver found you and stole their parts back!)As you reload to continue your journey you might find that there are some particular items missing from your vehicle, namely the ones that you stole previously. This can be detrimental to your future journey if for example you stole an engine, or wheels or some other key component and then loaded your game to find that your stolen wheels or engine has been "stolen" back! As a result you can be stranded without wheels or an engine. That can be a problem if you are in the middle of nowhere. Now if you stole something like headlights or mirrors or doors or some other non key component that is fine because if they steal it back you can still keep going and find those parts later. You can be lucky and load in after stealing an engine or something and it is entirely possible that the stolen parts are still there, but it is like a 30-40% chance though. Basically steal anything that you want from ai as long as it isn't an engine or wheels, just incase they dissappear when you load in next!

I believe to break the crates you need a mod.
disconnecting from a can will usually pull off or you can hit tab to equip it which seems to help

I'm about 95% sure you can dismount the fuel tank of the donor car, and pour directly from it, if you don't have a not-a-snake.
Best way I've found to get a snake out is to switch to one of your other weapons/tools then back to the snake.
