Thanks m8 I found your pod from some learn french website, love the scottish accent. Maybe after a few of your videos I can finally communicate a bit with my fiances french family.
I am SOOO confused. If "how are you?" can be asked as "ça va" and also mean the exact same thing as "comment ça va".... with: comment= how ça= are va = you... Can it be/why isn't it: comment sont toi ?? comment = how sont= are toi= you doesn't "ça" mean "it/that" and "va" mean "goes"... while "sont" means "are" and "toi" means "you" ??? So why does: how are you = "comment ça va" ... instead of "comment sont toi"? ANOTHER EX: quoi de neuf quoi= what de= 's/is neuf= new Can it be/why isn't it: quoi est neuf quoi= what est= is neuf= new Doesn't "est" mean "is", and "de" means "of" ???? So why does: quoi de neuf = "what's new".... instead of "what of new" ? and why isn't "quoi est neuf" used?? (or is it?)
i think "comment ça va" is more "how's it going" than "how are you" and for "quoi de neuf": you're asking about one thing from all the new things happened in that person's life i hope it makes sense to you
@@niacano6309 It seems to be both, might be they are not french themselves. It's not only the pronunciation, the tone also makes a difference. But for beginner this is alright.
